Being 'yourself'' musically doesn't lead to progress, it's just more the same, that actually happened with their last album, even when Skye back, it's just blah, this is fresh air, Daisy did it amazing, of course it'll be an entire new time without the soul of the band but they had to move on, the real problem was to keep changing and changing vocalists, they needed to get solid since this amazing single and furthermore, and they screwed it,

@GeomighTNYC Skye is the first lead vocalist Morcheeba ever had, during 1995 to 2003. She left the band and they replaced her by the singer in this video. Fans usually argue about the changes the new vocalist brought into Morcheeba, once Skye was the REAL VOICE of the band, the spirit of the thing. The guys just lost their focus, working with material that didn't sound like them... the fans complained more and more and more... good news is that Skye is back in the band since 2010.

Well said Barbie...I've got most of the albums and whenever I listen to them it always lifts me up. There earlier stuff is more loungy & chill but I love this album for it's bouncy, fun melodies. You should check out there new stuff...I beleive the album is called 'Dive Deep'...I've only heard a few tracks but what I've heard sounds solid. The disk is going on my Christmas list for sure!

Just for the records, Daisy Martey got fired about 3 years ago from Morcheeba and hasn't been replaced since. The last album, Dive Deep, had welcome some guests though.

And for those who loved Skye, you gotta hear her on Nouvelle Vague ! Worth it !! :)

Daisys voice is explosive, i think it's powerful and enjoyable to listen to, but it differs from Skye. Can't say why the replaced Skye, maybe they felt they need to take the music onto another approach. And the results aren't bad, i really like the new album. I'm sure Skye will succeed past Morcheeba with her solo-career. :)

very inspirational music, thank you , i understand someone`s frudtration for a sudden change of the lead singer , i don`t know who`s decision it was to leave but it`s not like you have exchanged one very exeptional vocals from the eighties and earlier decades that their voice is so unique and powerfull it does not make sense to replace her as if it was Annie lennox , or Janice Joplin , meaning that the new lead singer is equally good and she is the original vocals behind this new song .

Message to Morcheeba, the band's backers, et al: Ross, Paul...man, honestly, when you guys lost Skye, you lost your identity. It may be hard to admit to yourselves, but the sound, albeit not horrific, is NOT "Morcheeba" in the sense of the "Morcheeba" fans like myself liked enough to purchase and listen to. Don't believe me? Check your bank statements now vs. then. Talk about a horrendous mistake...kicking Skye to the curb was professional suicide. Why? Why?? Why??? That's all we want to know...

@pcmedix I understand your frustration and understand that most people do not take it well when artists they love go through big changes, but why don't you just APPRECIATE what they DID give you. First of all, you don't know them, therefore you don't know their reasons for doing what they do/did. You don't know the whole story. Secondly, every artist has the right to experiment and evolve. Every choice they make may not be perfect in your eyes, but still love them and be patient.

Skye definitely had a more soothing voice. The same kind of soothing when you wake up to the sound of raindrops on the window. David Byrne once said

"If your voice is too good, it will be too hard to believe what you are saying."

And that's definitely the situation here. I can't buy into the this fake soothingness that Skye would provide so very easily and beautifully.

What if Skye is gone? Morcheeba is more that a voice. It's also has to do the lyrics and the sound. This song is lovely and is still the esence of the group itself.
