I have respect for all military and am very thankful for them serving our country. But its not like cops went around targeting ex military in this situation. Accidents happen. The law enforcement was forced to use force because the area was becoming un sanitary and dangerous and everyone was littering and breaking laws. We simply felt that we had full right to assemble and were not going to leave. To be fair, I wouldn't say the protesters were calm either. Almost everyone was yelling at the police and using foul language. Then everyone broke out into that chant, "who are you protecting" right before the tear gas was fired

Think of all the money that is currently being lost because of the Occupy Movement... Who is losing money?... Who is to gain from this lose of money?... This isn't totally the Cops fault, other protester cause the chaos and then the innocent protestors get hurt. There are much more people who cause trouble, than there were with the Tea Party, Looking at this objectively...and had the least media support. The Occupy Movement has a legit concern, but I think the Tea Party was much more organized and safer.

I have respect for all military and am very thankful for them serving our country. But its not like cops went around targeting ex military in this situation. Accidents happen. The law enforcement was forced to use force because the area was becoming un sanitary and dangerous and everyone was littering and breaking laws. There are members of good social conscience and who never commit violent or unjust acts ; serving in manners the public can and should definitely appreciate. We should not accept that something is called "illegal" if it doesnt make sense. This is public space, where the protesters were... and WHY should people be prohibited from being in a public space? I think calling it "illegal" is irrational...

@mainjurii Wow, you're slow. The campers weren't shot at at 5AM, the rowdy protestors in the evening were. And yes, it's illegal for them to camp, PERIOD. They didn't shoot at peaceful protestors and you can go watch the tons of footage to educate yourself on that. And no, the world should not INSTANTLY change all of its laws on squatting for this movement, they should respect the law and protest properly.

@mainjurii Plus, since it's an illegal encampment the city isn't required (and shouldn't) provide portable toilets. That costs money, first of all, and there's no reason for the protestors to be camping. Are you aware of exactly how MANY hours in the day the protestors are allowed to congregate at Ogawa? A HELL of a lot. They're just choosing to be animals instead, and FUCKING up the movement for everyone who wants to do it right.

@MetaMW66 No... They did give us plenty of warning. There was one officer, I believe he was a Sargent, yelling over a microphone that if we did not leave they would use chemical weapons on us. We simply felt that we had full right to assemble and were not going to leave. To be fair, I wouldn't say the protesters were calm either. Almost everyone was yelling at the police and using foul language. Then everyone broke out into that chant, "who are you protecting" right before the tear gas was fired

This isn't totally the Cops fault, other protester cause the chaos and then the innocent protestors get hurt. There are much more people who cause trouble, than there were with the Tea Party, Looking at this objectively...and had the least media support. The Occupy Movement has a legit concern, but I think the Tea Party was much more organized and safer.
