The front doesn't offer that much protection. It's not a hard board inside, just padding.
I'm not sure if it's waterproof but I'm sure you could spray it with some waterproofing scotchguard.

Thanks for the review. Can you tell me if it is waterproof and also does the front of the case add much protecion for the screen
