I love this song but it did not play to the end, and I wonder why. I'd like to hear it in it's entirety. I just heard the remake by Barry Manilow and this prompted my search for the original. Would anyone enjoy comparing the 2 and how do we post Barry's? Newbie here. Robin in NC
I had the good fortune to grow up in the wonderful era when Miles, Coltrane, Dizzy, Sarah, Betty Carter, Arthur Prysock and so many others were prominent. Most have passed on but thier music live on through the great records they made. Johnny Hammond is as new today as he was then. Wonderful Post.
A voice from heaven, I was blessed to see him and hang out after hours at the local clubs in Paterson, NJ.. back in the day............He is in a class of his own! thnx for the post...
Someone should do such a tribute to David Allyn and/or Dick Haymes. Two of the greatest popular baritones of American music history. "coming from a place Frank Sinatra can't even understand"
"Coming from a place Frank Sinatra can't even understand???" WOW! You must be referring to the "NY NY" Sinatra or the 120 yr old "Duets" Sinatra.
I like Haymes and Allyn, they aren't anywhere near the conversation of Sinatra, Cole, Bennett, or Joe Williams. Who do you think Haymes was trying to sound like?
Johnny Hartman was one of the very few true MUSICAL male singers ever. The two you mentioned aren't even in the same field as a Johnny Hartman. They were Pop singers.
I'm a little rusty with my Spanish, but I can understand what you said. Thank you for your comments, especially calling it a "magnificent" video. Gracias!

The only appropriate adjective here is "purple" in the sense of "elaborate and brilliant"!
