How can i get Ubuntu work flawlessly on a 1080p 24p like i-robot with stuttering or juderring? as on asrock, just not happening tearing away disabled all avsync no to refresh etc, do i need to put something in the xconfig? Please help.
oogjenatwork: to not derive that much from the topic/video. you can play HD content on an ION card just fine (0% cpu usage for video decoding) if you use its native capabilities (VDPAU) and your the video you wanna see is encoded in a supported format.
Marijn01 is right. Full HD content does NOT run perfectly. It shows best on a 'pan'-shot. None of my HD-movies runs smoothly. Guess what: friend of mine bought a 3,5K $ Samsung LED TV installation with Blu-Ray and all... Only the cable between player and tv is 200$ (crazy). On this installation you often see some stuttering... :-S So I'm happy with my ION 330 setup! Things sure can improve though
go to terminal, type: alsamixer and you'll see the mixer. make sure to unmute all of them (MM = muted, 00 = unmuted) hopefully this advice helps otherwise use Google! :) *I'm noob in Linux and I managed it too after some time of headache*
I just got a ion 330 and its friggin awesome. i'm using xbmc live that boots from a usb key and ubuntu thats on the hard drive. Everything works perfect in xbmc live with a few setting changes. I'm even using my xbox remote after a small bit of modding. Best media pc ever!! It looks so good on a hd tv!!
may i ask which version of xmbc you are using? i'm trying to figure out linux because i build a small computer which i've put behind the television. i already installed xmbc but i can't make it look the same way as yours does..
I would suggest to update your xbmc as soon as possible. Today came an update which makes rendering mode: vdpau enabled. (YES, it's a good day to be on the Linux side)
Umm... its open source!!!! In other words just compile it on a 64 bit computer if you want 64bit support. I compiled it on my 64bit install and it runs great! With VDPAU too
It does skip, you can clearly see it with any large moving objects on the screen.
So far I've not seen any software/hardware which plays HD-Video as it's suppose to be, smoothly, without any interuptions. Why is that & why do we not complain?
hah dude youre so wrong, my guess is you dont have ANY of these devices! Shit my old ass WD HD player has ZERO issues dude with 1080p mkv to shitty avi, and its the cheapest mediacenter on the block! You will see about a billion media streamers next year.
Hello, I was wondering if there was a step by step guide for a newbie on how to do what you have done to your ion 330!? I have been trying for the longest time to setup my asrock ion 330 like you have done to yours but no matter what I do I can not seem to get it to work!! I have been trying to get the HDMI sound out to work for days! Any help would be great!!
It's actually the frontend only on the ASRock 330, however you could probably easily use USB-TV tuners on it and run the frontend on the ASRock 330. The backend runs on a miniITX JetWay VIA C7 1.2 GHz machine with two pcHDTV 5500 tuner cards.
63Mbps! heavy! glad to see it held up. Nice performance all-round. menus especially. Any info about thumbs? what res are the posters/bkgrnd art? thumbquality 512 or?... very nice.
How do you get your movies like yours with the boxes and backgrounds please?

Is an Alsa Mixer problem. The HDMI is mute. Regards.

do you think the ASRock 330 would be beefy enough to run both a MythTV backend and XBMC frontend simultaneously?
That would basically be the ultimate TV box.

ps- how are you getting the tv channels? you have a usb-tv card installed I presume?

I see so you're getting the tv feed from another machine.

I'm not sure about the thumbs but the posters and background art are 1920x1080 pulls from FanART scrappers built into MythTV & the skins.
