  • shoulda pulled an americana. It is a good pin. Nose break seems asshole-ish

  • I made up my own move, like this. my friend tryed to smack me,I grabbed his arm then put it over my shoulder twisted then pulled till he yelped. Is that helpful in anyway?

  • Your not very experienced, or at least not very wise. The very basis of Aikido when it was created by Ushiba was to spread love to everyone, ESPECIALLY those who are trying to harm you. If you want to control them, then you can take them down and pull them into a hold on the ground so they can't get up. The worst that you do to them there is cause nerve pain, no actual damage.

  • @kailenphillips

You think a hold doesnt cause pain? lol. It's the same as a nerve, it's temporary and is used to control your enemy.. lol

  • No not all, there are a lot of dumb martial arts instructors out there. Fleeing is what should be done if there is a knife present, but if someone has a knife and has you cornered, caught up to you because he ran faster than you, or is going to kill a friend or family member, you probably need to take action, hopefully you yourself have a weapon. If not, the worst case scenario is defending yourself empty handed against a blade, in that case, this technique is the worst to even attempt.

  • The reason why this technique has a low chance of working is that if anyone with common sense feels that you are turning, they will just pull their arm back, that's what I would do, if that doesn't work, they still have a chance of turning into the attack, and don't even get me started about how wrong this could end up if the attacker has a knife. Check out the oni-kudaki, but keep in mind that technique is not ideal against a boxers jab, but rather a hail maker type punch.

  • @tonydelacruz45 Correct me if I'm wrong, but if anyone has a knife, don't all Martial Art instructors (except things like Krav Maga) tell you to flee from a knife?

  • @skullkidtom If they have a knife and your last resort is to defend urself empty handed, probably parrying the blade would be best, and using strikes, eye pokes, until u can secure a disarm would be best, but most likely, you'll probably die or go to the hospital. However, my estimates are not 100% accurate, but if they have a knife you have a 1% chance of actually using shiho-nage, whereas maybe a 40-50% chance of doing an outside wristlock or similar move.

  • @skullkidtom

Yes your absolutley right! But the more experience in martial arts you get, and the longer you study the more they teach you about standing your ground. For instance I studied Ninjutsu/Jujutsu and as a white belt we would defend then run, or strike and run. As we progressed deep into red belt we were taught to fight fire with fire. Other words If they attack you attack back instantly! Sometimes in life a person can't run and they have to fight back and have courage!

  • @tonydelacruz45

ha that shit would be put on you so fast, when you do "turn" you will be on the ground turning over.. This man is going slow to show the technique, when we did this in class it is so quick, that right when you feel your arm move up, a strong force is slamming it to the ground! I had the same outlook as you until I studied it and realised, dang this does work..

  • Go ahead and try this on someone with a little training In Judo/Wrestling/Jiu Jitsu, see how many times it works, you are going to be disappointed. I practice Ninjutsu as well, and although they have a lot of "cool" techniques, some of them will not work in a real situation no matter how many times you practice it. I have respect for martial arts, but there are better more practical techniques to defend against a wrist grab. Aikido is an art but with serious modification it could have some use.

  • @bam7786: Now dont get me wrong, if you like Aikido, that is cool, keep doing it, it is an art, a physical exercise, good for character development, etc. But if you are looking for realistic self defense, practice something else, with very few exceptions, it doesnt work. The wristlock is a good move, and one technique against a rear grab is awesome, but rely on the element of surprise, along with an eye poke, or groin kick before they can be used.

  • I had practiced this technique many times, however, a lot of people are correct, this technique has a low chance of working in a street fight unless your attacker has no common sense whatsoever and no training whatsoever. The Korean art of Kuk Sool Won has a similar technique although I don't recall the name and the main difference is that they push the persons elbow into their body before completing the technique. A better technique for the street would be a keylock/oni kudaki.

  • Break da nose!!

  • I like your take on Harmony. Many people in Aikido emphasize Ai (love) & Ki (energy), instead of Aiki (fitting). Budo must encompass the original bujustsu completely, which means the techniques must work. Osu!

  • i like the livingroom-dojo

  • AIKI-LOSER, your special technique must be idiot-nage!

  • Please, go and read thinks about pavarotti, about peace, about his spirit... don't be a Poisonous soul with other people. ok? be nice. nobody want to make you nothing

  • did this to bouncer trying to escort me but he got shihonage

  • maybe sometime

    you should be more polite

  • Hey man, this will work in real fights, your manipulating the Uke.

Please done be negitive about aikido. Its highly affective

  • And what knowledge base are you drawing from to make this inisghtful statement?

  • The basis that pvp and myself both have Aikido training and know that it does work in a real fight. :)

  • well RetardFolksD that means you dont know what a real fight is.because anything can happin in a fight

  • Like it or not sometimes you cant survive it you dont hurt someone and if you think that using Aikido in a real fight will not hurt you are sadly mistaken.

  • breaking their nose is never in anyway aiki

    your wrong!

ai in aikido is not the ai in aikijujutsu.. this is a fact.

Fact : ai means harmony .. but in aikido Ai also mean love .. what does love got to do with it? you ask? so watch the song.. she will tell you.

dont blame the player blame the game!

  • Actually, the "ai" and "ki" characters are the same in both aikido and aikijujutsu.

  • the kanji might be same but it is truelly different since moriheis spiritual developement his intention for aiki became different too. so people neglect this fact but it is true its no longer only ai as harmony , it is love also.

  • Ueshiba's spiritual beliefs are why created a Do out of the Jutsu. The Ai in Aikido does not mean anything along the lines of "Friendship." It is harmony with nature, as in using the natural forces of physics. Watch videos of the man in action, this idea of him being all about peace at all costs or something is a myth.

  • your wrong and i never said any aikido is aiki-do.

if you wanted a reply from me, this is it.

  • Evert Aikido is Aiki-do. That's what the name means and the function of the art is!

  • you missunderstood me, all aikido is not aiki-do because alot of people teach aikido differently and many of these unfortunetly just forget what it is about .. it is NOT about being "effective" the way some people define it.

    final.post here.

  • the ai in aikijujutsu does not erefer to harmony between people but between techniques and atacks..in aikido the harmony mainly refers to harmony between two people a fusion of the atackers intention and the ukes, rather then a fusion between wepons or atacks... it is some little differences.

  • seriously...? This is the dumbest nit picking i've ever seen. Stay on the topic of the techniques jesus...

  • there is a world of nit picking championships out there haha.. and you know my mom has a black belt in it.. however understanding that aiki-do in its very explenation has nowhere the expression of violence, agression or destruction.

  • The thing is all that fancy grabbing and take down shit is cool, but at the same time, you got to do what you got to do. If that means breaking someones nose or breaking something else , do it. People always argue technique and principle, but what about survival, what about life or death ?

  • get a gun or go learn other kinds of martial art where it is more geared towards that sort of survival.

  • You mean get a gun that you can only use in your home, that's not sound advice and martial arts are for fighting, not looking good in a uniform.

    Peace

  • "peace" ?

haha so dont learn aikido in the firstplace , aikido is not about impressing or hurting anyone , because that is what it ammounts to when " surviving" that people talk about is int he center .

    there is no peace .

  • forth :D

  • third!

  • second!!! arghhjaarrrrr!!!
