UFOs - Phoenix Lights 2 - July 4 2006

As a former USAF FAC flying many night flare missions...I would say these are not flares. But as they look to be over by the Gila Bend ranges...I would guess it is a flight of 4 F16s from Luke doing a night rejoin and you are seeing the afterburners of 2, 3 & 4 being tapped as they get some smash to join lead...No from this distance you won't see their lights, and in night tactical mode there off anyway...the lights move to to the angles the jets are moving relative to eachother and the camera.

the lights "go out" because they move behind the mountains surrounding the valley...thus blocking our view of them...and just because an aircraft is labelled "ufo" it doesn't necessarily make it "alien"...it's just unidentified.

I used to snicker and call ufo enthusiasts dumbasses too, until I saw this stuff with my own eyes (along with about 11,000 other Arizonans in March '97 alone). I've seen the same exact formation, moving the exact same way more than once. And they're def. not flares .

It looks like a flat triangle, tilted about 20 degrees in respect to the horizon, and rotating around its central axis. The comment about it being lights on the distant mountains (possibly cars on winding roads, although this wasn't specifically stated) is well taken. The mountains surrounding the city aren't quite high enough to bear this idea out, however. At least not in my memories of hiking in and around the Phoenix aera, or in any Googled photographs of the city.

You can't see mountains at night because they are obviously dark, but lights on them appear to be in the sky. When I was in mexicali delivering a load(Im a truck driver) I saw lights resembling what is shown on the video. I just didnt make a big deal out of it, but then I keep asking myself what the heck it was. It was around march or april of 2006 though. It started with one light at first then split into three. The three lights hovered, then disappeared. I thought they were shooting star,and I've been driving for the last 9 hours straight, and too tired too even think about ufo, at that time.
