My favorite place for many of the reasons spoken in this vid. Such patriotism and pride, not to mention the wonderfully polite people I have met also in the Hill country.
We are not impressed with your glib jingoism. Your simplistic soundbite precis of our complex history is an insult to scholasticism. Truth be known, the desire for independence was strongly opposed at all levels at all times by many Texians- opting instead to a simple restoration of The Constitution of 1824.
We reviewed your website and find that this video is but shill by those interests that would divide the Texas people one against the other to further already abysmal economic disparities.
Your reference to "a simple restoration of the Constitution of 1824" has some authenticity. But, in fact, that was tried (see the Consultation and the resulting Compact) but the simple dictatorial manner of Santa Anna was clear and compelling. I sense you have have a hardened view and were merely looking for a crack to poke a stick through. Yes, there was opposition to the final break, but then, as now, revolutions are odd things to run.
No--the vote for who made it IN office on November 4th has corrupt nominees, cabinet members and while BO doesn't appear tyrannical himself, Joe the VP fits the bill. Let's not forget that our (yes its OURS now) stimulus package ($300m in tax reductions so really only that amount is stimilus). The rest is pet pork projects and who exactly deems if a bridge in Iowa is necessary? Please don't tell me you trust ANY politician to manage OUR money! I would like to hear back from you in 4 years...
Most people look to the government to protect them from their fellow man, as they should. Government is made up of our fellow man, and we must not forget that at times it is government that we need protection from.
It does indeed sound precisely like today. Even if you are not a Texan, if you are an American, you should read the Texas Declaration of Independence and find that we are in the very same predicament.

Fortunately, we voted the corrupt and tyrannical government out of office last November 4th.

I'm certainly inspired to resist "corrupt and tyrannical" government. Sounds a lot like today actually.
