When I watched this part of the episode I was boiled up with anger and felt like I wanted to cry. I mean, how could that be the end?! There was no happy ending, not even after his death. He gave and gave and GRRRRRRRR!!!! I hate stories like these T_T
hahaha that's why you should never watch dubs. Hmmm, if those companies paid those dubbers as much as their seiyuu counter-parts, and they got as much training and such... maybe
I would suggest that thats more down to the TRABSLATORS rather then the dubbers.
Also, something that seems to be overlooked by the nay-sayers of dubbing is that alot of anime is aimed at a younger audience who, frankly in todays world, have little interest in talking properly, let alone reading.
Perhaps they should use FANS of manga to translate and dub for the wider audience.
The crux : its produced by people who care for the characters, but translated by people who care for the money!
ACCEPTABLE is an opinion. ACCURATE is a point of fact. I was commenting on the accuracy of dubbing then stating an opinion on why I thought it isn't handled as it could be.
Secondly, no matter how you dress up anime, the average western market for it is aimed squarely at a younger audience. Maybe not under 10s, but not exactly adult (you said as much yourself, thanks for agreeing).
Thirdly, if anime had NEVER been dubbed, I doubt it would enjoy the fanbase in western society that it does now.
1st, I don't double post, so the last part had nothing to do with your comment.
2nd, if by "younger audiences" you mean no younger than 13, I somewhat agree. Though marketing may aim at kids younger than 13, the anime available is mostly for teens and adults with titles in the pg-13 to X rating (clearly ADULT).
3rd, the fanbase in western society gets fanSUBS & once licensed, buys it to get additional anime licensed. So, anime would still enjoy the current fanbase even if it isn't dubbed.
Onto point 3, which wasn't aimed at what is available NOW, but rather what was available when anime first started to become mainstream... i.e: 20 plus years ago.
If the earlier stuff BACK THEN was not dubbed and exposed to a mainstream audience, I honestly think it would sill be enjoying a NICHE market now.
I may be wrong on that, but history shows that stuff like this only survives due to popularity/marketability. Both of which were possible with dubbing.
This story really made me ponder what is and is not foolish. In the process, I grew to love Tohru Honda more and more. And when I'm alone, I think of this story and how it relates to someone I know. :)
i love this story...but for me...it's really hard to understand....is cant quite grasp the deeper meaning...i know it's referring to tohru but...HELP!
it basically says that we dont need to always focus on our problems and our issues but the hardships of others to reach out our hand and help then like tohru is trying to do with the zodiac
I was reminded of so many beautiful life lessons as i watched this anime and read the manga. natsuki takaya is absolutely amazing...this story is incredible. thank you so very much for this video.
Arigato goizamasu...This is one of my favorite stories I like to tell to others. ^_^ Fruits Basket is really a nice and gentle series, and usually when the characters have talks like that about how people are, they're usually close to the truth. I wonder how Takaya-sensei does it...Please, if you could, upload more of those heart-touching scenes? Like the one with Akito at the end? ^_^ Arigato! -Yukari
Its hard to believe that Momiji grows up eventually, I find it sad that all he wants is to love someone. :')

Standout scene of this series in my opinion.
Such an incredible monologue, but ironically delivered by possibly the most annoying character EVER!

"alot of anime is aimed at a younger audience (SIC)"
I don't think so - a lot of cartoons may be aimed at younger audiences, but most animes are aimed at teen and older.
And on the note of dubs, the only acceptable dubs I have ever heard are for Golden Boy and Grave of the Fireflies.

On point 2, Adult is 18+... NOT 13+
