  • Well, thanks for exploiting a terrible tragedy, guys..

  • My absolute favorite scene out of this whole movie.

  • Two people didn't know how great "Our Father of this nation" was!

  • leave it to the first president to tell us we have fallen by the wayside, we miss you george

  • This is my favorite scene in a great movie.

Most of the movie was all about laughs, but this scene was dead serious, and extremely moving. Voight did an amazing job as Washington. The only thing is, it could have been a bit longer, with Washington explaining more about the roles faith, courage, and sacrifice played in the founding of this great nation.

  • Great scene with a great actor, I wish someone would make a feature film about George Washington and get Jon Voight to star as him. He did a fine job of portraying the greatest statesman to ever hold the presidency.

  • haha. "michael malone" was completely right though. the ruins of the world trade center do represent over a century of corrupt US foreign policy in the name of capital gain for the corporate elite. If you think the terrorist "hate us for our freedom", you've been bamboozled. that's like saying, don't hate me because i'm beautiful.. or something equally arrogant. they hate us because we in the US think we own the world and disrespect every sovereign country with something we think is ours.

  • mrghastly BULL!! You sound like a lib drone when you spew about the "corporate elite". You don't even understand what our enemies are, and what they believe do you?! How pathetic!!!!

  • You believe that "michael malone" knows what he's talking about? George Washington doesn't? If that's what you think then the terrorists have already won and those fighting against terrorists are dying in vain. StupidIty and ignorance will kill us. TALKING TO TERRORISTS DOESN'T WORK.

  • @lindsay480799 so you agree that america and its foreign policy.. our imperial and colonial practices are a divine right and that somehow speaking up against that evil is therefore against god? yeah, you and all the rest of the maniacal religious jihadists. its the same thing. if god thinks its bad to denounce fascist greed then i'd rather not be judged. please research actual american social/political strategy over the past 100 years, before you go blindly supporting corporate greed.

  • Great movie, I love this part, America!

  • whats the name of the song in the backround?

    wonderful... =)

    best wishes

    Xeon

  • no, it was made by Jeff Zucker, who use to be a huge liberal.

  • I respect your opinion on that. However, if you think a bit on that you might realize that people abuse freedoms all the time. We are the easiest country to harm simply because anyone can use our freedoms to their advantage, then because of this they can be taken away. Many have been taken away. Our country is not on a great path right now. The government is way too wrapped up in things the average guy is doing and it's probably been that way all of our lives, just easier to see now.

  • If the Founding Fathers were here, they would draw no party lines; the issues of today are not that black and white. Our Forefathers were thinking men, the Constitution was not written overnight. This movie and this scene in particular is a testament to the freedom we all take for granted. Nullifidian seems to thing it's right-wing propaganda, foolish to say the least. It's about freedom and the 4th of July, and it took a Statesman to have enough balls to make this movie!

  • The abuse they speak of comes from instead of using your freedom for the preservation of your rights, and for the good will of your fellow man, you instead use and abuse your freedom to encourage descent and hatred against your own Country and the very core beliefs for which your country stands which ironically are the very building blocks of freedom themselves. That is the Abuse, it's abuse Michael Moore has committed in abundance.

  • Comment removed

  • Moore is damaging freedom Nullifidian. He lies to the American people, and leads them in a direction which favors enemies of the USA. The more people choose to believe the lies of people like him, the more they are willing to sacrifice thier liberty for the will of others. Moore shows that he favors a more socialist belief system, and such a system is detrimental to us! No one suggests that he shouldn't speak, however it is just as right for us to speak against him, and try to show him the truth

  • Comment removed

  • Nullifidian I adamently disagree. At no time during the movie is the Moore parody told not to express his right to free speech. Instead, he is told that he is abusing that right, and that he is wrong for doing so. The whole concept of the movie was to teach him, and convince him of the truth about America. However, they never force him to do anything! That's the case in real life too. People have the right to lie about America. It is equally true that we have the right to tell them that they....

  • ...are dead wrong. We also have the right to point out the truth to them about the lies they are telling and about how those lies effect people in the USA. It isn't a matter of shutting them up. In reality that is something the Moore's of this world would do to people who disagree with THEM. You may remember the recent arguements regarding the fairness doctrine, and that is but one example. I also find your comment on the "intangible concept "freedom" to be disturbing. It makes freedom utterly..

  • ...undefinable. However the Declaration of Independance and the Constitution more clearly define what freedom really means. If we use your method, than freedom is based solely on the feelings of the moment, or on whatever political winds are blowing, and that is a poor way to define it. The warnings addressed in the movie are real. Why dismiss them so readily in favor of supporting liars like Moore?!

  • Comment removed

  • Nullifidian once again you are wrong on all counts! The fairness doctrine is an attempt to silence Conservatism. Radio stations were going to be forced to broadcast liberal shows in order to "balance" Conservative talk radio. The fact is that liberal shows always lose money! This would have gretaly increased the broadcasting costs to the radio stations. In order to prevent this they would have dropped Conservative shows. Liberals in power are well aware of this. As to free speech, I need to....

  • ...remind you that at no time does the movie or any Conservative say that the Moores of this world should shut up. They are, again, stateing that the ideas they are perpetuating are WRONG! To claim that the concepts of people like Moore is not damaging to freedom is a falacy. Think about the kinds of concepts Moore believes in. His attacks on capitalism, the military, etc. Not only this, but think about the concepts taught at major universities, and even to children at schools. They have been...

  • ...redefining the history of the US, and also doing the same regarding the principles on which that nation was founded. The more you look into it, the more you see a socialist agenda in them all. They have been spoon feeding that garbage into thier students for years, and THAT takes it's toll on the people. In time, they began to believe that the US was fundamentally flawed and unjust. Also that gov. was to provide for them. Those teachings effect how people think and ultimately, how they vote.

  • ...They have voted over the years for people who are increasingly like the Moores of this world, and that can be seen as you pointed out in what men made to the presidency in the majority of elections in the 20th and 21st century. When you think the US is flawed, and that gov. is provider, you willingly accept whatever changes a more liberal gov wants to institute, and we've seen it happening strongly since Obama, Pelosi, and Reid have been in command. They seek to change the US in the image....

  • ...of liberalism. They could only have done so if peopel willingly put them in power! And ALL of this was made possible because people over the years bad mouthed America under freedom of speech. Yes, it CAN effect our freedom. Make no mistake about that! As to conformity, people who love God and country are not "assimilated conformists". The beliefs they hold are quite real, and not based on the "crowd". And no one is saying that dissention should be shut down. However, if they are going to be..

  • ...allowed to say lies about America, why is it a problem for people like you to allow us to, just as loudly, shout against them?! They are not being arrested, imprisoned, or sanctioned by the gov of the US! They have "plenty" of the scope you mention. Yet, if WE speak out you cry foul?! No, we have the same right that you give them, and we DO speak, and we DO disagree with them! And THEY will hear it no matter how much they wish WE would be silent! Try to change your focus here from supporting-

  • ...dissention, to also supporting people who love the USA. When you look at such people, you will see that democracy is far more than people who disagree with everything. It's also people who love and support the USA too! Take Care!

  • Nullifidian "Long winded" am I? Well, it no longer than YOUR responce is it? :) The fairness doctrine I was referring to was the one libs talked about during the Bush years (long after 1987). The proposal was looked into, and it would have cost radio and tv stations millions. Especially because lib programs never make any money! This was a plan to force stations to either accept a much lower profit, or to drop programs which didn't fit a gov mandate of "fairness". I've seen interviews with...

  • ...Moore and I've never once heard him support the military. He's been seen at ani war rallies such as one with Cindy Sheehan on Jan 6 2005. He also spoke out against invading soverign nations like Iraq and Iran. Such terms and actions show he is not a supporter of the military or it's mission. As to socialism. Well you seem to think I'm to dumb to understand what it means. Don't be foolish. I'm a student of history, and have learned what it is, and what it means if we let take hold in the US...

  • ...Libs like Moore have been in favor of socialist programs such as the health care bill, so yes he does support it. The so call "kinder, gentler"system of capitalism gives Moore away. What does he mean by kinder, and gentler. Well, in essence it means that companies are evil, and capitalism is greedy. The only way that kind of system can be fixed is through gov (at least according to Moore), and that is a key idea in socialism. As to Universities and schools. Students may be apolitical as you..

  • ...claim. But that is not the case with teachers and professors at these Universities. I grew up in public school and am a college graduate. I am well aware of what they teach, and it is leftism, and socialism. I also have debated with college students on YouTube, and they have spewed the same leftist garbage I was taught. The fact is that students can be influenced, and can be molded even if students don't realize it! It's far more than mere conformity as you claim. As for me. Sorry to burst...

  • ...your bubble, but I don't just accept whatever I'm told. I'm an avid researcher who looks up facts and who delves into history to see what works and why. I'm curious just what it is YOU hold to. You seem to have a dislike of leftists and conservative alike! Where do you stand?!

  • Moore is center right?! HA! Only by your anarchist definition I suppose. No way of dealing with you?! Get over yourself! Seldom have I posted with one so arrogant as yourself. I think your basis is wrong. No country has ever had a population as prosperous as the people of the United States. That fact is undeniable! The capitalism you seem to hate so much has created this. Free Enterprise, the private sector has done more to improve the quality of life here than anywhere else on earth! No....

  • ...system is perfect of course. In cases where people are exploited, they can be prosecuted and shut down. You have to look at history a little more Null. How can a nation less than 250 years old gain so much in so little time if our system is so bad? Compare this to nations which hold that gov should be in control. There's no contest there!!!

  • Null you've made many assumptions about my posts with college students, all of which are lacking in any basis! I've been there! I know what they teach. Your denial means nothing!

  • Null I would argue differently. Socialism is gov control of an economy. Nations such as the USSR are good examples of this beleif system. There is no such nation where the "working class" has control. And no, it is not common sense to hand our system over to them. Systems such as Medicare and Medicade are trillions in the hole. Further they are mismanaged. One example: Medicare denies more claims than private insurance. The Gov track record in this area is very poor. Economic sense?! PLEASE!!!!

  • Null I never said the military's mission was to overthrow nations. Oh that's right I IMPLIED IT :) Don't put words in my mouth! You obviously don't listen to Moore and others like him very well, but I do. They don't have anything good to say about the military. Those same people have referred to US soldiers as terrorists, rapists, murderers, and criminals. Still as to it's use. Iraq and Afghanistan had to be done! We are at war on terror. Who else will stop them? Your words, or real force!?

  • Nullifidian The fairness doctrine was not going to be the same. I heard the coments of liberals on the subject. You've clearly not done your research. The reality is that libs want to silence conservatives. Your denial of it doesn't change the facts!

  • Null. As to the fairness doctrine. I listened to libs speak about it. The policy was looked into, and it would have been damaging. It wasn't reinstated because libs did not have the power to do so at the time. Right now they are focused on other areas, so they've no time to worry about it now. Your assertion otherwise is conjecture on your part at best! As to the military. I made no such claim. The lines you quote from me I will clarify. I used the words of Moore to make my point, but did...

  • ..not cite it as such which I should have. As to terrorism, you have fallen for the same garbage so many others have fallen for. Our war was against terror, not just the group which attacked us on 9/11. For years our gov did not take action against these groups. 9/11 was a wake up call. The US finally took action, and it was to be against any who enacted terrorist acts, supported them, or harbored them. As a result tens of thousands of them are dead, and no new attacks occured during the Bush..

  • ...years. 70% of Al Quida leadership was destroyed, and millions of people were freed from them. Terrorism was weakened severly, much of thier finances were disrupted, and nations which once harbored them became less available. If that doesn't curb terrorism in your mind, nothing will! As to a national health service. In order for such a system to work gov has to have control over it. I mentioned Medicare and Medicade as examples of what happens when a gov takes control of a system. Medicare's..

  • ..unfunded obligation stands at $36 trillion dollars. And Medicaid consumes an average 21% of total state spending making it the largest state expenditure. They have both been mismanaged by a gov who NOW says they can take over the entire health care industry, and yet cut costs! They have had several years to prove they are qualified, and have failed. There is no reason to believe they can make our system better with a track record like that. As to socialism. Socialists don't define who they...

  • ...really are. Many I have heard claimed what you claim, that it is putting production, distribution, and exchange into the hands of the working class. However that is not the case. In nations like the USSR (socialist), and Nazi germany (also socialist by thier definition) it was not the poepl who had the power. In fact, it was an elite group of people who had the control you mention. They decided what job a person had, how much they could make, how they could travel if at all, what food they...

  • ...could eat, and a host of other controls. More modern examples are China, and Cuba which also have similar systems. In Cuba you can't even buy a toaster without gov permission, and it was Cuba's current president who defined thier system as socialism. The socialism you define simply doesn't exsist. As to universities. You hate capitalism and you want nationalized health care. Where did you learn such concepts if you did not learn them where you are educated? I know you say you've not been....

  • ...indoctrinated, but you DO share at least some of thier beleifs. You must have picked up the concepts somewhere, unless you claim you came up with those ideas on your own! I can't speak fully to your personal experience, but I can to mine, and I was taught about how bad America was, and how unfair it was, and how change was needed. The changed they wanted were along the line of gov provision because people were said to be unable to provide for themselves in this unfair system of capitalism...

  • ...most teachers unions and professors support left wing dems during election years. Many rose out of the hippy movements of the 1960s. They were well known to embrace Communism. Do you honestly think that those ideas didn't come with them? Don't play dumb! My arguements with others on YouTube have shown me that such lesson are still being taught. Denying that they are not retelling what they have have been taught is against human nature, and you should should know better! As to America...

  • ...how many of the nations you mention are able to spend trillions on social programs? Who is it that you cite that gets to determine how great our quality of life is? Why is it that people around the world bend over backwards, even breaking our laws, to get here? If what you claim is true the opposite would happen. People would be running to get to the socialist like nations you champion! One fact for you: People in the USA eat better than 70% of the world (food availability). We create wealth..

  • ...in far larger quantitiies than other nations. The standard of living here is also greater. We live lives that most of the world can only dream of. I don't have a library of book right in front of me to look these facts up, but come on, you can't say the things you've claimed with a straight face! You need not look far outside your own room to our prosperity.Sure there are ways to improve, but still, where would you rather live? As to empire. I thought you might say something along those....

  • ...lines. In recent years especially there has been an effort (particularly in colleges) to compare the US with ancient Rome. Rome achieved much of it's wealth through the conquering and enslaving of other nations. They often compare Roman military might to that of the US today, stating that this and military actions if proof that the US has become an empire. That concept is laughable! The nations of the world are NOT enslaved by the US. In fact, we trade with them, thus strengthening thier....

  • ..economies, and our own. Anything we have we either produce, or pay for. You may be thinking of Iraq and Afghanistan with regard to military action, but this is not proof of an empire. Iraq has formed it's own gov system. The US will leave when they can defend themselves. Afghanistan needs more work, but they too are not under our direct control. We are, infact, teying to drive the terrorists out and give the nation back to it's people. We have done such in the past. How many nations were.....

  • ...freed in WWII? Did we take them over and claim them as our own? What about our actions in South Korea? Did we claim them? I could go on for some time, but I have to work tommorro. If you delve into history, you will find that the US has been a force for GOOD in the world. We aren't an empire. Our Constitution is NOT based on such beleifs. I hope I NEVER become as you are. I was once much more liberal, but over time I DID question what I believed, and this is where I ended up. I believe in....

  • ...limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong natinal defense, and it was a long journey for me to reach that point. If anything it seems you have become lost in anarchism, and an unhealthy dislike of the USA. I challenge you to rethink your beliefs. Don't be so quick to hate this nation and it's people. Remeber or learn how the US came to be, and what it has done for the world. It is a better place for our exsistence. Have a good one!!

  • Null I am going to answer your comments one by one, and it may take more than just tonight, Bare with me as you have made many arguements. I stated they are not concerned about the fairness doctrine right now because they are putting all thier effort into the health insurance bill. They aren't even talking about it. I'm sure at some point the matter will come up again. However, they have other major points on thier agenda to accoomplish first. As to the military, I speak from the view point....

  • ...of libs I have seen interviewed. These libs have never generally supported any military action, including Iraq and Afghanistan. They view such actions as criminal because it is said to be an attack on a sovereign nation. This became a problem for our soldiers, for you see the fact that they were even there, and the actions of soldiers on the ground were also viewed as criminal. Libs in Congress, including John Kerry claimed that soldiers were terrorizing Iraquis in the dead of night!....

  • ...another (the name escapes me at this moment) compared thier actions to Pott. The hard core leftists continued with these kinds of arguments until Obama was elected. When you deny the validity of the mission, you also deny the validity of the action of those IN the mission. If such was not the case libs would have stuck to arguements against Bush, and not our soldiers. As to Terrorist attacks. To my knowledge the anthrax attacks were done by an American. My reference to thier being no other..

  • ...attacks was with regard to US soil. I find your comments about the War on Terror to be based on a false assumption. You actaully think that this was about projecting our force around the world?! THEY KILLED 3000 INNOCENT PEOPLE!! That was the latest in a string of attacks occuring over several years! Nobody was doing anything about it, and the attacks were only going to get worse?! Bush did what should have been done long ago, he fought back!! Your belief in the "empire" is unbecoming of....

  • ...one with even a high school education!! And you comments about Israel?! Absurd! They are a tiny nation surrounded by other nations who want them DEAD! They have suffered attack after attack to destroy them, and they have done what any sane nation should do, they fight back to WIN!! As to a national health service. The reaon I mentioned Medicare and Caid was not to claim they are a national health service, but to illustrate that gov is unable to run health care as well as the private sector...

  • ...If they can't run those smaller systems well, how can they claim that they will run the ENTIRE system well? Understand my real point. For there to be a national health service in the US someone has to be in charge over it. That would end up being the gov, and they can't handle it!! To claim that gov is not trying to take over health care is proof that you haven't even looked into the bill. What we know of that bill is that gov will assume control. There's 2700 pages of info we could go....

  • ...through to illustrate this point so I'll give just one example. They wish to FORCE us to buy insurance under threat of jail or a large fine. If that isn't control....what is!?! The US is based on the beliefs of the Western Europe. No gov can guarantee quality and affordable health care for all! It's a pipe dream!! According to statistics less than 1% of our popualtion doesn't have insurance, and quality of our care is second to none! Even an official from Canada recently got surgery in the...

  • ...US because the procedure was not available in Canada! We ARE serious about it, but most of us don't think the answer is to hand power over the system to gov officials, nor do we hold that Western European methods are best for us! We hold to free market solutions for such matters, and that is a better answer than what you champion! As to socialism The Nazi party, when the name is properly translated, is the National Socialist Party. If you don;t like their own definiton, talk to them! The....

  • ...USSR the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic also defined itself as such. Yes they were in conflict, but that doesn't mean they weren't socialist! Also the Cuban president said his nation is socialist and they have a system much like the USSR did. China is also similar in the way it's gov run things. I base by statements on systems that are known to exist, and the way they are run, the fact that gov dictates the lives of people through terror, force, and manipulation of thier own population..

  • ...is evidence that my definition is correct, or do you deny what they say about themselves?! As to where you learned your views. You demand proof? You've given none yourself! Still, I wonder how you can ignore the change in viewpoint of any Americans over the years. Do you notice how they demand health care as if it is a right? Do you notice the revision of US history making US the bad guy? Do you see how people vote on the left side of the tracks? And what about the universities who trained...

  • ...many of the politicians in power now? Hillary Clinton was trained at Harvard if memory serves. Obama and many others were rained at Harvard and Yale. Look at thier viewpoints! Is it coincidence that they are similar? I'm not sure how I could prove to you that they tried to indoctrinate me. I can only speak from my personal experience, just like you did. I never had a Conservative professor. Coincidence? When I post next it will be about the Economist Intelligence Unit. Stand by.....

  • Null, about the EIU. First they are located in London. The UK is not well known for its support of American ideals. Second, THE ECONOMIST magazine typically favors views from the left. I also Iooked up info on how they come to their conclusions regarding quality of life. Some of them do make sence such as Material well being, climate, and life expectancy. However others make less sence. Gender equality, civil liberties (undefined), and trade-union membership have raised red flags. These are.....

  • ...subjective in nature, and can lead to conclusions based on the personal opinions of whoever is grading the US or other nations. I've never been one to allow a foreign body to determine what my quality of life is. They don't hold to the same principles we do. What you presented as a FACT, is in fact, opinion. That alone doesn't cut it. Don't forget that millions do everything they can to get here, and that says alot for how the US is viewed by the world. As to empire, the exsistence of the....

  • ...military in other nations is not proof we are an empire. If that were the case we would use those bases to subdue the people of those nations to our will, and that doesn't happen. We are there with the permission of the govs of those nations. Iraq and Afghanistan are not yet fully independant because they can not withstand attacks from enemies. When they are ready, we will leave. The comment you made about a stolen election is conjecture, and unproven. The US freed those people, get over it..

  • ...As to where you live. Well, thats the great thing about America. You have the choice to do so. Still, I wonder why in light of the fact that you didn't like the gov there either. Still, it is your right to do so. As for me, I love it here, and just like you it's a matter of choice. As to Dems vs Repubs. In terms of philosophy the two couldn't be more different. In a nut shell Dems hold to more gov control and unlimited spending. Repubs are the opposite again in terms of philosophy. There....

  • ...are, unfortunately some on the Repub side particularly who favor a kind of hybrid philosophy. It's often referred to as bi-partisan. This is a result of some Repubs moving more to the leftist agenda. But what I refer to is the base philosophy of the two. The best eample of this is presidents Reagan, and Obama. The two couldn't be more far apart in terms of philosophy. Yes there is an "animal" of far left wingers. They are in control right now. They seek to force bills the people don't....

  • ...want down thier throats. I'm not sure what other evidence you need. But your concepts are skewed somehow. No amount of evidence will suffice when you refuse even to delve into the matter. Still, that won't stop me from telling you how wrong you are!

  • Oh and one more thing with regard to the Nazis. Socialist groups don't always see eye to eye. This is because only relatively few people eventually get to be in control. The fighting between such groups is, therefore not that surprising. And let me point out that you lectured me about how socialists are the ones who are the last word on who they are. What you call a "gambit" is simply the truth, THEY defined themselves as such. Based on your own logic, they are socialist!

  • Null actually that's my line. It is in fact very difficult to speak reasonably to you about this. Yes they DO favor the left. You can read it for yourself in thier own articles. For crying out loud, they're located in the UK! It's not a nation which really favors the US system as a whole! Still, if you can cite specific articles otherwise let me know! Your claim that I'm lying is amusing. Lying is useless especially in the information age. What I said about the EIU essentially was that thier....

Also your crack about conservative views on gender equality is unbecoming, and a clear indication that you don't really know what we believe about the subject. As to empire. Remember it was YOU who pointed out that military bases in other nations is proof of empire. In response to my comments, you changed...

  • ...your reasoning to comments about "economic control"! If what you say were true the US could be finished easily. China has purchased much of our debt as an example. They should therefore be able to control us in the way you mention, and that's just one nation. Your arguement doesn't fly! Oh, and Cuba is ONE nation. The circumstances which brought us to them were different and you know it! As to the elections you jump the gun when you call your story established fact. Cite some sources! As to..

  • ...differences between conservatives and liberals, you're wrong. Conservatives believe in free enterprise, libs want control of it. Conservs want limited gov, libs want more gov. Conservs wat a strong national defense, libs cut military support. The two are VERY different! Reagan and Obama are the same!? Oh please! I guess I'll have to cite some examples. When Reagan took officethe economy was suffering under double digit interest, unemployment, and inflation. Reagan championed the passage of...

  • ...the Economic Recovery Tax Act which cut federal income tax brackets 25% and indexed the ratyes against inflation to prevent creeping bracket increases in future years. The act instituted the Accelerated Cost Recovery System and a 10% Investment Tax Credit, leading to an increase of capital formation. This created incentives by removing gov barriers to investment, productivity, and growth. The result: Inflation dropped from 13.5% in 1980 to 4.1% in 1988. Interest rates dropped from 18% on a...

  • ...30 year fixed mortage in 1981, to 8% in 1987. Unemployment dropped from around 10% in 1981-82 to 5.5% in 1989, once the full force of the tax cuts kicked in. Reagan's economic program was based largely on free market principles, and the economy was spurred. Over the next 25 years 43 million jobs were created, and 30 trillion dollars in wealth was created. Compare this record to Obama's Unlike Reagan, Obama believes that gov is the answer to solving economic woes. He help usher in greater.....

  • ...gov control over the Financial, automobile, and energy industries. Now they seek to also gsin gretaer power over the health care industry as well. Obama made clear during his campaign that he intended to "spread the wealth around". He, and the leftist controlled Congress have taken trillions of dollars and spent it on stimulus packeges and pork projects which have stifled the economy. Job losses have been great, and our debt under him makes all spending done by all other presidents look......

  • ...tame!! Even lower estimates place our debt at over 12 trillion dollars once his plans have taken thier full effect. Reagan believed in the private sector. Obama believes in gov control. The two couldn't BE more opposite!!! Oh and Bush wasn't really a conservtaive. He tended to hold a kind of hybrid belief system. His debt was largely becasue he kept agreeing with lib policies! Your comments about Israel are laughable! The reason they were attacked was because the other nations wanted to....

  • ...KILL them! After the War of Independance it was clear that those nations would not stop until Israel was destroyed. Now what would you have them do? Let themselves be killed, or fight back? The mainstream media doesn't typically report favorably about Israel's self defensive actions. Instead they call for them to "come to the table" to negotiate peace. I guess you don't watch the news very much! As to how leftists got elected? Great speeches, lots of money, and even more lies! Libs don't...

  • ...broadcast thier true intentions, Now that thier intentions have become more well known, the people are responding. 75% don't favor the health care take over. Congress has a dismal approval rating, and Obama's has dropped faster than any President in history. Corporations give money to politicaians as a way of "making friends" with them. If they give money the politicians might be more favorable to them. Note how friendly unions were to him, and the rewards keep coming to them! As to Kerry...

  • ...based on how he speaks it's hard to believe he likes ANY war. However, to be fair cite where this info is and I'll read it. Also I am curious about you comments regarding revolution against corporations and Congress. Are you suggesting that business is bad in general? You've already said you are an anarchist so your comment about Congress isn't surprising. Still, let's say that this happened, and corps, and Congress are overthrown. What then? Till next post, take care!!!

  • Null I will have to concede after looking more thouroughly at Kerry's record that he has sometimes voted for military action. My requests to you to cite sourceswith regard to the economist and Kerry that I'll read still stands if you will send them to me. I admit I'm not perfect. Still, I find many of your views disturbing to say the least. You currently live in a great nation. I wish you'd understand that. Nevertheless I wish you well, and I WILL do even better reasearch when I post to people..

  • ...on YouTube. I know that you view me as of lower intelligence than you. But, understand I am a person willing to learn truth wherever it is found, even when I get argumentative with people. You have challenged me well. I still love the USA, the Declaration of Independance, and the Constitution, and that will never change. My hope is that you will do what you have challenged ME to do, and that is to question the views you hold. Reading books and talking to activitist groups isn't enough alone..

  • ...I challenge you to read the founding documents. If you have, read them again, and understand that our system has produced a nation unlike any other in human history. For any who may have read these posts, I hope you can see the differenes between the philosophies of people who love the US as it was founded, and those who think it should be changed. What's at stake is the very freedoms we often take for granted! Good luck Null. Take care!

  • @USSJ3 we're much like the roman empire... give or take some freedoms in certain situations. they lasted for about 300 years as a republic and altogether 500 years as a national influence, yet still exist today as a religious influence by way of the catholic church. it doesn't look like we'll make it as long as they did. every organization, no matter what it is has an expiration date, before it is corrupted. from a musical group, to a motorcycle club, to a business, to a government, to a church.

  • mrghastly I've heard such arguements before, and such comparisons are foolhearty at best. The US has not been in the business of conquering nations and enslaving them. In reality we've done the exact opposite such as in WWI, WWII, The Korean War, and more recently in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. You're concept of Christianity is interesting to say the least. Care to elaborate?

  • @USSJ3 We have better PR than the roman empire but we subdue and exploit nonetheless. look at our trade policies with third world countries. when they want to nationalize their own resources and use them to better themselves, we assassinate their leader and install a puppet of our own. we're not as obvious as conquering and enslaving, that wouldn't seem very "free". this country thrives because of the fortune 500 companies based here... for now. they hold loyalty only to money and power however.

  • @mrghastly name the countires you mention. Who was assasinated?

  • @USSJ3 as far as christianity or any other religion, it may have been started with good intentions but most religions have been perverted and distorted into tools of social control by the powerful. i'm not against god or religion, but people need to think for themselves, rather than being told what to think by some cleric or politician. wars are really fought for power and capital, though the ones dying are told otherwise. i have more respect for empires that admit that greed is their motivation

  • @mrghastly Insofar as religion is concerned I am well aware that there are those who use it to thier own ends. Still, the concept that one should think for themselves is, at times, an excuse to live apart from the moral principles of religion, and that's not as great as it is often cracked up to be. Religion is something which can be thoroughly studied by anyone who wishes to, so it's harder...

  • ...to use people in the way you mention unless people willingly allow it. As far as war is concerned I find it amazing how people claim the USA went to war over greed. The people of our nation are too quick to forget that the events of 9/11 drove us to those wars. They forget that the US freed millions from tyranny. They forget that tens of thousands of terrorists are dead, and that the leadership of Al Quida was severely weakened....

  • ...all of which was done at great cost in lives and money from the US. Also you need to understand that what makes this country thrive is the fact that ordinary people can turn thier lives from being poor to being rich through hard work and determination. The fortune 500 companies you cite were not founded by gov, but rather ordinary people. Free market capitalism was born here, and it shows.
