  • the should make 1 of those 4 the ps3

  • and try changing the location and languge like farout!!

  • since they wouldnt have a modchip for this since its so rare get swap magic

  • The little port you did not know is actually a male mini usb port out.

  • PS1 was called PSX; well before this PSX was released. It was kind of a colloquial name...

  • @KasHCubeD Find some evidence.

  • What were they smoking when they decided to put the controller ports in the back?

  • @TheGamingPegasus187 Controllerports at the back gives it a cleaner look. Especially when you're using wireless controllers, there is no need to have the ports on the front.

  • Well, the price was pretty ridiculous and I don't think many people would have bought it, especially considering that this would have come out in Europe and the USA sometime in 2004, when many people already had a PS2. Even the PS3 struggled with its high price and that were only 600$. And I think I bought my PS2 in 2004 or 2005 and I paid 149€, just a quarter of the price of the PSX.

  • why didnt sony put this on the market insted of the origanal ps2 that did half as much of the stuff this one doese cos i think if they put this one out insted it would of sold better than it did cos loeds of ppl dont buy somthing that they allredy got thats simler and costs much more than they payed for the origanal one so sony shot them selfs in the foot like load of other entertainment companies do on stuff like this.

  • @torquetheprisone The costs of it were really high. People would be more willing to buy a PS2 and this system that would cost 800+ in the US.

  • It was only released in Japan; why is all the text on the device in English? Why wouldn't it be all in Japanese?

  • @TylerSteven9 Because Japanese people incorporate some English words into their language. You see it on other stuff too, just a random English work into the middle of a Japanese paragraph.

  • DVR on console? Fantastic

  • Press 1 for Rin Disk!

  • the remote doesnt run off of batteries silly. everybody knows that remotes are solar powered:P

  • @tyeswo just like my flashlight and my glow stick 0_________o

  • @Gamester81

Im From Brazil,Can I Put The PSX Menus Language into English,or another?

  • My Dream Is Buy This Psx and The Playstation 1 NEtYaroze System

im going to spend 1500 Dollars Plus Shipping

do you guys think this is a good idea?

  • @kaplanjoedudugames no get a car of a big ass tv instead

  • @kaplanjoedudugames Practically? No. If you are a collector and you really want them, go for it. I don't think these will be of any real use to you,.

  • @SuperDuperCrazyDude i'm not a collector

the NetYarozee,i no wanna buy that anymore :)

and the Psx,im going to buy it for 200 dollars, from my neightbour :0

what do you thing about this?

  • @kaplanjoedudugames Well a PS2 will run you about 70$ and this probably isn't the greatest DVR by today's standards. But that seems to be a helluva deal for that system. I don't think you'll get much use out of it. But you could resell it for a bundle so go for it!

  • The very first XMB-based device

  • better than ps3

  • Winning Eleven 10 was the best Soccer game on PS2 End of Story.

  • PSX is awesome, Im one of the many few in the UK that has one. They were only even released in japan. I got one when I was ever visiting friends in Japan. You can mod this to play PAL and NTSC games so dont need to worry about that if you ever see one being sold. I can also speak and read Japanese so thats why it didnt bother me if I couldn't mod it to play non JAP games.

  • I got one of these with the PSX Logo in blue, do you know what model it is?

  • ya veo de donde nintendo copio la forma para el wii, se casi igual.

  • Controller ports in the back? No air vents? Well, Sony had to work out some kinks before the PS3 came and the PSX was its guinea pig. It is an interesting console none the less but looks very problematic.

  • ps2 I can ply English ps1 and 2 games

  • psx: I can play Japanese ps1 and 2 games

  • I'd love to see that DVR technology put in to the PS4 if it can be cheap enough.

  • @ItzNickish why go buy a DVR if you want to record not everybody records.

  • Does ANYONE know where I can buy one of these? I LOVE to own rare and quirky game systems like the Panasonic Q that also had a gamecube system in it lol

  • @TheRaistlain Since they're Japan only you might not be lucky on eBay. But i've seen many on yahoo auctions japan (where my brother got his), but you need to have a japanese address to purchase from that site since they only ship domestically.

  • Seriously, the PSX isn't THAT rare, its more rare in the fact that no one know what it is than its actual production rarity.

  • It would be betta if the writing was in english

  • dude this guy has a lot of games

  • is it man

  • the ps3s dad

  • if it sold in north amarica it would have alot more sales and its a stupid move that they didnt i would buy one if i could plau my ntsc us games on it

  • now i know the truth nintendo...

  • if its only made in japan why does it have english all over it?

  • @Turdfurgusen1 because japan uses eglish quite commonly

  • What's with that stray SNES cartridge supporting the window blinds somehow????

  • It's ironic that something in 2003 had more space than in 2006/2007.

  • The O.G XMB

  • i want one i touched it back in japan in 05

  • Comment removed

  • So ahead of its time. I wish I owned one right now... English version of course.

  • Wow wow wow this is the 1st time i heard of this console :O!

  • Would a cooling fan help extend the life of and cool down the PSX? Or would the PSX still overheat within a couple non-interrupted hours?

  • Damn it still looks really good after all these years wow the design still holds up

  • Will it Play DVD's That's Made outside Japan

  • @WarnerBros556 european ones at least for I beleive Japanese and european DVDs share the same zone (zone 2).

  • @wondermega4ever You Mean The PAL Region

  • @WarnerBros556 not really,I might be wrong on this aspect. I know japanese systems can play only japanese games (NTSC) , unless it has been modified but I beleive can play DVD 2 games (european zone). Now, if zone 2 movies will displayed correctly on a pal TV...this I don't know.

  • hey gamester, just to let you know that is not for a computer. That input on 5:48, in japanese they call it D端子/ D-Terminal cable. That cable in essence is what they use to get HD, so thus it is very similar to component cables here. Just that it is one plug and 2 audio cables, whereas ours is 3 video and 2 audio. Just to let ya know :D

  • @tknjin im guessing that it isn't compatible with any monitor in the us, cus i've never seen that thing before

  • @Hakudo2VisualKei you would need a japanese tv that has this particular input because American TVs will not have this in any way shape, or form. You will need a japanese monitor of some sort to be able to utilize that D tanshi/ D terminal input.

  • lol XBOX

  • Game loading, please wait.

Came across this video today after I saw one of these in a shop in Shimonoseki this evening and wanted to know more about it (it was 15000 yen).

  • If they made that instead of ps2...

  • PSX = PS3 Without Wifi ;D

  • Isn't the "PS2" controller just like a ps1 controller with analog sticks? Because i have one of those for the PS1, but not all games work with it

  • @DGMRuadeil Nope, the PS1 also had analog sticks. The only real difference was that the PS2 controller was black.

  • @DukeNukem2020 thanks for clearing that up :)

  • @DukeNukem2020 the ps1 i had didnt have analog sticks. i still have the controllers.

    (the console is dead though)

  • @CWCandMRSAFETYRULES You had an earlier model then. The PS1 did have analog sticks about half way in it's life. There are 3 models of Playstation(each with a different controller). The launch playstation didn't have any analog sticks, the second major revision had the "Dual Analog" controller(slightly different, no shock and the sticks sink in like the 360's analog sticks), and the last major revision was "Dual Shock"(It said Dual Shock right on the box). If you don't believe me, research it.

  • @DukeNukem2020 i believe you lol, i was just saying that there were versions without analogs

  • @CWCandMRSAFETYRULES I know, I had the very first model of the Playstation 1(The one that had all the A/V outs and had overheating/disc read errors) with the standard d-pad.

  • @DukeNukem2020

Those are the three models of PS1 controllers. The PS1 had more than 3 models.

  • @Firebomber7 ok nerd, thanks for correcting me, there were like 10 different models. Most normal people would of caught my drift.

  • @CWCandMRSAFETYRULES the ps1 did have analog sticks, i have 1.

  • @DonKhamairi The newer versions of the ps1 did.

  • Playstation IMO was the best console OF ALL TIME.

Final Fantasy 7 kicked every other game in the fucking ass. Even people who hated RPG loves that game.

So many good rpgs, fighters, racers, strats, I could rattle off all the fucking awesome games on the system but I have to live!

  • They should of tried to sell this in america first, then japan. Man, i woulda bought one. it's almost a better version of the ps3. Almost like a early release.

  • when the console loads the disk, that text says "booting ROM, stand by" or somthing close.

  • i wanna have freaky sex with this machine

  • @djparnate OMG I just thought the same thing LOL! It's white glossy finish is so sexy!O.O

  • huh nice menu!

  • For this to have a 160gb and a 250gb hdd was pretty great. I don't think most laptops and pc's at that time had that amount

  • soo the PS3 is what the Japanes got in 2003 -.-

  • @wrestleterry pretty much, exept no friends, online store (unless you count PSBB) and its a DVR.

  • is it possible to mod for us games

  • also this was the test bed for the PS3 if anybody knew anything and if you knew anything which you dont. this was the testbed wor the linux xmb system we now see in the PS3. so heres the explination for you on this about the controllers. they are in the back cause it was never meant to be a game system. was meant to be a dvr dvd player. not a gaming system

  • originally the PSX was created as a media system not a game system and was adapted at the last minute. hence the lack of cooling ability. and was originally released in japan (these arent fucking rare in japan they are everywhere) for the release of FFXI eliminating the need for the pos hdd add on you had to have. these systems were released with the original FFXI on the drive. and without a disc. meaning you delete it your shit outta luck (sorry dude you got boned if FFXI aint on there).

  • @REAPER0D These ARE rare systems in japan im in japan and ive been searching it for about 3 months now and I cant find one So shut up

  • Comment removed

  • I LOVE the way this looks.

  • i wonder if (when mine comes) it plays CDs that are region free. movies etc. but i have japan stuff too.

  • Is this on better then PS3? :O

  • @TeamSweden99

Heck yes, I've also heard that Atari Jaguar was the most powerful console ever, and had a great library of quality games.

  • @DeeFutura Okay, thanks :)

  • @TeamSweden99 no, its only meant to record TV. but it does JPN PS2/PS1.

  • @TeamSweden99 nope

  • it kinda looks like a prototype for a ps and x box combination ... lol and It kinda looked like a wii contorler but its not

  • So ummm...I have to ask you Gamester81, what is it you do for a living?

  • On 8:29 It means "Please wait while your video game is booting."

  • I better then the WII ....I want it!!!

  • @IRageFox LOL I know im just giving shit

  • I modded one to a PS3 because it looked alot better

  • WOW I FUCKING LOVE SNOW!!

  • wow can yu change language on that

  • ps3..better..

  • I love your videos I thought I knew all the gaming systems but you always seem to find ones I've never even seen before.

FYI "Winning Eleven" is FIFA under a different name.

  • @madmax01992 No it's not, Winning Eleven is the Japanese version of Pro Evolution Soccer

  • @tECHPhil89 sorry yea lol (i'm a twat)

  • Please subscribe to my channel I am doing PSX gameplays with commentary of the best, weird, and worst games youtube user name JayMerx

  • so its like a ps3 before the ps3.... its the inspiration of ps3?

  • fuck you get every thing that counles rules you gte everyhting am going to your home and play them

  • Original playstation is called the PSX watch the playstation musuem video.

  • lol charlie sheen should be on that cover.

  • I swear I saw a display of this at Circuit City 10 years ago

  • whats difference

  • psx can work on ps1

  • @Newmario12 I always called the ps1 as psX

  • @DukeNukem2020 Well, you're wrong. :P

  • @ZachsVlog Now it's been corrected. Now there IS a real PSX console. The PS1 was called PSX during it's first years and it stuck

  • @DukeNukem2020 that always confused the fuck out of me cause I remember seeing commercials online a couple years ago called PSX, but because people also called the PS1 the PSX it kinda confused me. I didnt even discover what the real PSX was until afes months ago.

  • @DukeNukem2020 i called it ps1

  • @DukeNukem2020 then you've always been wrong

  • @DGMRuadeil you must of not lived through the 90's then when they called the first Playstation "PSX" way before an actual PSX came out.

  • @DukeNukem2020 i did, i had it when it first came out :) People here just called it the playstation, and then later playstation 2 or ps2. I didnt even hear the term PSX until way later on the internet

  • @DGMRuadeil you never heard the term PSX describing the first Playstation? It was plastered all over GamePro and other gaming mags.

  • @DukeNukem2020 nope, i guess that was in the american magazines, here in the netherland's i've never seen it called that

  • 16 people are jealous and can't afford to buy a PSX :S

  • look like the wii

  • if it only plays japanies ganes why does it sat quit game in inglish

  • @xXBUTNUGGETXx most of english words cannot be translated and most of japanese games support english test.

  • sony might as well have duct-taped a ps2 to a dvr

  • Precursor to the PS3?

  • does the dvr function work on american tvs in america

  • Referring to the question about why did Sony include Memory Card slots. The memory cards were for PS1/PS2 games. The harddrive was for the DVR functions. Since most PS1 / PS2 games don't expect a harddrive in the system it was impossible for Sony to tweak them to use the harddrive for game saving.

  • god help you if your house gets robbed xD

  • I remember the news about the PSX years ago. It looked really interesting.

  • well duh if they sell the psx ONLY in Japan of course it wouldnt sell good if they put it available in the USA now where talking

  • @FrntlineAssassin they test if it will sell in japan. then they sell in us. the us and japanese markets are similar. In fact the us market follows the japanese market. plus sony is a japanese company

  • where is the HDMI. on that thing. dosnt sounds like a gaming console but more like a computer

  • @techu40 lol no hdmi, made in 2003, no hdmi yet

  • Amazing!

  • you look a little like that singer of the blood hound gang :) on topic good work, I still like the playstation 2 very much, I think the best console ever.

  • ware can you can get it?

  • how much does it cost on ebay?

  • @MyShadow2424 I found two on ebay just now, one working for $450 + $180 for shipping (searched Japan PSX System). The other, doesn't work and it's $60 + $145 shipping (searched Japan PSX). It says the one that doesn't work, won't read discs. So I'm thinking maybe the DVR still works?

  • Winning Eleven 10 was probably the best WE/PES game in existance!

  • Only thing you said wrong was back in 2003, the yen 100 = to about $1. I was a buyer and seller of products directly from Japan back then. I wanted one of these in 2005, but I was told the PS3 would be similar. This was supposed to be an adult system. Sort of a one stop shop for those who had a nice home theater system. For me I would rather get the Debug PSX unit, and maybe a PS2 test unit because I have many PAL and Japanese games for both systems.

  • Video was great thanks a lot, but the annoying comments are an eye sore. Nothing worse than a bunch of nobodies trying to correct each other.

  • @metalmachine80 thanks for the input jackass.

  • @metalmachine80 dude, shut up, just ignore them

  • @isorSOT Ill say whatever the fuck i want, whenever the fuck I want, if I fuckin want.

  • @metalmachine80 LOL theres a correction right bellow ur comment!

  • what were the japanese ps1 and ps2 called?

  • @ClOuDsTaR159

playstation and playstation 2...they arent named any different exept they pronounce it praystationu or something like that

  • Hey this is just me but shouldn't the original PSX ( First Gen Playstation) Have a different title then PS1?

Because if I remember correctly the PS1 was a totally different system to, wasn't that the slime CD player sized first gen Playstation?

  • @zexx The original Playstation is just called Playstation. It's only after SONY announced Playstation 2 they made PSX smaller (the one that looks like a CD player) and called it Playstation ONE.

  • @zexx psx was the original code name for the playstation, they used the name officially for the machine in this video and the small playstation is called the PSone (by the same token the slim Playstation2 is called PStwo), PS1 is a correct term for the first gen playstation.

  • @NickBFTD Agreed to a degree, PS1 or just PS. Was a number ever given to the first generation or just added to "make it easy"?

From what Playstation History shows the PSone was the successor of the Playstation 2 not the Playstation, other then the code name Playstation X and the chronological first generation Playstation was there any extension of the original Playstations name.

  • @zexx you are correct, the original PlayStation was not given a number officially but the small later model IS called "PSone", i just meant that PS1 is a widely accepted term for the original PlayStation.

I wouldn't call the PSone the successor to the PlayStation 2 though it was released after the PlayStation 2 as it was still just a PlayStation and not a new console.

  • Was that a VGA connector on the back?

  • @bseven54 yea

  • Are you a soccer fan?

    Are you brazilian or something?

  • came out AFTER ps2?

  • Interesting. I knew the name PSX WELL WELL before this came out though. Although this is the PSX it also refers to the PlayStation. I always thought it was the Japanese version of the original PlayStation. I have now found oiut it was a codeword used amongst gamers and developers.

  • @19822andy well well before? What kind of expression is that?

  • @TeamChaotixBR An English one

  • @19822andy from England?

  • @TeamChaotixBR Of course!

  • @19822andy it looks like Brazilian Portuguese, "Bem Bem antes"(well well before) instead of (away bebore)
