ivo's rendition has the rare austerity blended with scriabin-ish sensuality & melancholia. coupled with sofronisky's . these are the ultimate scriabin 2s. too often we hear the undirected excessive sentimentality or cheap indulgence in scriabin sonatas
@Verityseo an interesting comment, scriabin was a unique figure and ivo plays it like i imagine scriabin did. i have played scriabin for years and wish i had the technique to play it this way. i just listened to his Islamey, and it really takes someone with phenomenal technique to play softly and tenderly like this. only horowitz came close to the separation and blending of multiple voices like this.
I agree to slow and boring. Just the last movement is exciting.
Very interesting is

Best interpretation I've heard to date. Everyone else plays it too literally.

Pogorelich captures the spirit of this piece as no other pianist I have ever heard; what a brilliant and imaginative musician!

Scriabin was a hell of an excentric...Pogo knew this...
and plays accordingly...beautiful!

Very nice, my favourite of the early sonatas. Pogorelich is a bit of an eccentric. This he does very beautifully!
But it's a pity that you cut it in two. 10:10 should never be a problem to upload, I uploaded 10:30 once.
