nickelby68...Facts....minkyroo is talking about the 1973 ad called 'NORTHERN' which was filmed on Exchange St, Colne. complete with the butcher, Richard Laycock, working outside his own shop. He was our family butcher. The ad you're talking about is the 1974 ad called 'Bike Ride', filmed in Dorset. So get back in the water, you're wrong! Google that one.
ScouseFiles...if you want to speak 'Lanky Twang' CORRECTLY may I suggest a booklet of that name for you to study.'F' word not used minky!!!!

Minkyroo....you are the arsehole of the north not Keighley.
Colne is certainly not what it should be but that's due to bad planning and the fact that we allow cretins like you to drink in what is probably the worst pub we have in Colne....but let's face it...like attracts like, so you and your mate should have felt at home there with (or without) the dog shit under the pool table...which I do not believe for one instant....no self respecting dog would go in that pub.
A Yorkshire advert filmed in fukin Lancashire. Colne is a shit hole. It's the most depressing inbred dump I've ever had the misfortune to step foot into. People refer to keighley as the arsehole of the north. Well at least keighley is in Yorkshire and it's heaven compared to to fucking colne. I went for a drink with a mate of mine in colne. His local was the derbys arms. There was a lump of dog shit under the pool table and my mate said it was there a week later. What a dump.
lol they don't have ads like this any more, this one actually makes sense unlike today, wanna buy some milk, well watch this ad of a monkey climbimg a tree chewing a toffee.... milk
look forward to singing this to the leeds northern monkeys in wembley at the play off final. Milllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!
strewth, i can remember that advert being made - its on exchange Street in Colne lancashire - so much for the Geordie accents! we once had to deliver meals on wheels down that street, in the snow!
i was at school[park] and remember seeing the bbc lorries at the top of the street [between the town hall and barcleys]and we all wondered what was going on
by the time it was aired we had move to solihull and i used to bore everyone to death telling them, that's where i' m from
i can say for certan that the first ad was filmed in colne lancashire the street is called exchange st the mill in the back was haslams people in colne prob no it as jhon cottons. i walk up this street every day .
From the 1970s, when there was a future in nostalgia. The bike ride advert is still shown today because it was directed by an unknown young man called Ridley Scott. I think though these adverts, classics though they were, had their day and Hovis were quite right to switch to a more 21st century image. I still recommend Hovis. Makes great sandwiches.
Its funny how yorkshire still looks the same on this advert - its still the 3 rd world - i presume this is one of the upmarket areas of leeds shown on the advert?
The hill in the second advert is actually in dorset, i.e on the south coast.

The war referred to in the "Northern" ad must be the First World War or maybe the Boer War. Certainly not the Second World War.
