  • I was at that game loads of leeds fans applauded the goal including me

  • Too bad that wasn't for the Rowdies. I am just saying having Roy playing for the Tampa Bay Rowdies was the next best thing to having the clown prince, Rodney Marsh!

  • legitimately that's the greatest goal of all time

  • Brilliant goal, wasn't it in 1991? And QPR won 3-2 if I remember correctly........

  • They seek him here,

    They seek him there,

    No White gets Fuckin near,

    WEGERLE!!!!!!!!!

  • Was there that day.

    U Rssssssssssssssss

  • I met Roy last night in a restaurant here in Florida as I was playing guitar. He is a very humble and modest person. I kept telling everyone: "This is a World Cup Star" and he just sat there and smiled. Everybody was looking at me like I was crazy.

  • One of the best goals ever in the top flight! Told a few mates about this over the years but not many have ever seen it. Funny how this never makes it into any greatest golas charts nowadays.

Wegerle spent some time at Swindon in the 80's and was fantastic! Great player on his day.

  • Can't believe this is the only vid of Wegerle on youtube! He was great at Luton.

Got a few of his goals on VHS. Would share them on here if I knew how!...

  • Roy Wegerle was South African and came from a family of superb footballers, brothers Geoff and Steve were the older brothers by 9 to 10 years who originally played in South Africa in the 70's before moving on to the States.

  • Class player loved him at Ewood

  • This was ITV's goal of the season, and what a great goal. They should show it more often.Just to give this goal more credit , QPR were 2 nil down in this game against a fairly rampant Leeds side ,especially at elland rd and went on to win 3-2

  • thats my dads friend

  • Thank you so so much krands 85 for posting this on the net. Since around 1990 I've been telling my friends about this goal whilst never being able to see it over all these years from our Manchester base. Now they ( and myself ) can enjoy it time and time again . One of the best goals I've ever seen. Roy Wegerle.....quality.

  • Oh shit I remember that goal! Isn't this one from like the late 80s?

That lad learned his football in the States even..

  • skiliau da

  • Thats my dogs uncles friends cousins mum

  • goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • remember that goal so well, SUPERB HOOOOOOOPS Andy :)

  • thats my friends dad, hes also amazing.

  • Love this man!

  • rovers legend

  • Had it not been for apartheid Roy Wegerle would have been the best South African football player ever!Simply incredible by the way he also attended PRETORIA BOYS HIGH

  • this guys nephew, Bryce Wegerle is my coach

  • his son was our mvp, after he graduated he game me his jersey.

  • i was at the game and the whole of elland road stood to applaud. yes i am a leeds fan.

  • Actually I only updated the info AFTER Resenbrink posted his message, I didn't know who it was beforehand.

And if you've scored better goals hazed, then post them and show us :)

  • Defence was rather lacklustre, I've scored better goals than this, not like QPR were facing a strong side.

  • Beating six men and scoring from outside the box pretty much speaks for itself. Quick feet do for Mike Whitlow; standing still takes care of Gary Speed; then he nutmegs David Batty, beats Gary McAllister with a stepover, is too quick and strong for Carl Shutt, and finally shuffles to the side of Chris Fairclough before ramming his shot past John Lukic. And it was all done in 10 seconds flat. only 2 tears later leeds won the league with virtually the same personel

  • to be fair i think i cud skin fairclough and score past lukic! lol, gr8 goal, is rooney scores like that ppl wud rejoice, hate it wen small players font get recognition 4 magic moments,

  • That is so true

  • Thanks Resenbrink, I have a real trouble with reading the info section on my own

  • Krands85 posted it about 1 year ago. April 20 2007 to be precise.

  • great gol

  • That's for Queens Park Rangers, by Roy Wegerle.

  • No shit Sherlock
