To set the record clear. Rob Zombie did music for that short intro movie you saw in the beginning of Q2. That was it. This cue here was basically one of the gameplay tracks...
I'm terribly sorry, but White Zombie had nothing to do with this or any other song on the Quake 2 soundtrack. He is not cited, mentioned, or credited anywhere.
@PvtRichardCranium The Moby Games website (a known recorder of all video game credentials) lists Rob Zombie as the sole composer of the Theme track (this track). As Rob Zombie was in White Zombie, its not really that big of a deal.
In other words, this is "Operation Overlord" by Sonic Mayhem, and is the song played when you first fire up the game (and is used in levels—and Sonic Mayhem did ALL of the level music).
@KriztofferSwank its hard to know who did what i usually get my info on these by others and they get all mixed up on stuff like these, but hey im doing good so far, the only zombie vids i messed up on so far were this and white rabbit, at least im not like those guys that post the song bodies by drowning pools saying its zombie i hate those guys
@DestroX71689 It's cool. Just wanted to get the real info out for anyone who's curious. Some of it's speculation, after all, but these conclusions are the most sound I've read so far.
That link of mine is all goofed up, so just search for "sonic mayhem gameography", and it should pop up with a page titled "frame - SONIC MAYHEM > MAG". This is their old credits page (though not exactly in the format it used to be, of course). Scroll down to "Quake II" and you'll see Sonic Mayhem credit themselves for the songs listed, which is all on the game CD's redbook audio but two: "Climb" (by Jer Sypult) and "Showdown" (by Bill Brown). Zombie's track isn't redbook audio.
The song Zombie did is part of the opening cinematic track entitled "Ntro", written by Bill Brown. Zombie's "Quake II Theme Song" is at the tail end of the opening movie and song. You can also hear it on YouTube by itself if you search for "History of Quake" and click on the first video by ymajik. THAT's Rob Zombie's theme for "Quake II". You can read all about it by searching "REDO #2: Sonic Mayhem - Quake II (1997)" on de interwebz.

This isn't a Rob Zombie song. He wrote a theme for the game, but this isn't it; this is a Sonic Mayhem tune, written by SM (at the time Sascha Dikiciyan and David Valencia) themselves, not in collaboration with Zombie or anyone else. sonicmayhem[.]com/frames/frame_credits%28old%29.html#quake2
you have to buy it and it isnt a downlaod thing when i bought quake 4 for the 360 it had an extra bonus disc that had info about Q4 and the making of it and it also had on it the entire game of Q2 so it was awesome i wish i could get a copy of Q1 somewhere tho lol laterz hope this helped

I used to play Half life and the original Rainbow 6 to the soundtrack of Quake II. Loved it.
