Then walked calmy to the generator killed all the zombies and that explains all the dead bodies on the last level on the passing, then he saw this tank so he said "come get some u son of a bitch" then the tank crushed bill then bill shot the tank between the eyes and was blind and ran off then bill cudled his weopeon and sang

@robothesus in L4D's official blog, it was said that Bill sacrificed himself in order for the bridge to be lifted up so the other survivors could make it. and looking at Bill's personality, it's not that strange (i think) for him to make such a decision.

and that's why Francis sounds a little disturbed by the idea of lowering the bridge, and Zoey too, because it was Bill's sacrifice that made it possible for the bridge to be lifted.
