  • @DOWNSBRI000 watch kipkays he will tell u

  • 00:13 funyy laugh

  • how long was the wire? gauge? coated or non-coated? plate brand?

  • did u use an amp?

  • mine bounce more... i dont use suspenion though... ive made ones with the collum being the width of a pencil, they bounce even more lol they arent as loud though

  • I've made a few. Sure thier neat once your done but getting any decent sensitivity and power handling out of them is useless. I've made several before with huge magnets and coils.

  • Go fuck yourself ...... but use the dishes to eat, maybe you need it most

  • Now that's bumpin. Fuck subwoofers, I want plates in da club!

  • how much do you sell this for i need one for my audio class

  • you played A SONG

  • on the radio, don't go smart ass.

  • @six20simplesneph can't you see the plate vibrating? dumbass

  • look at my home made speaker :D

  • it's well under a buck , but it sucks, the sound muffles and it's not very loud

  • Actually, If I had any better recording device it would sound way better. It was almost preforming at par with one of my HTC High def speakers. I made another one out of a take out dish from Noodles&Co. and that one was almost better than it. I hope to be able to post a vid w/alot better sound of my other speaker. Please don't just judge by the vid.

  • @260830107 have you ever made one??????: )

  • @260830107 Where did u get the magnets from?

  • Adding a sub to that....... 1. make a small enclousure areound that make an air escape than put some plastic wrap over the speaker hole

  • i made on but my does not work help

  • try posting a vid for help.

  • i did not use a neo magnet

  • you do need a strong magnet but u dont need a neomag, my best guess is either you need more impedance (more turns) in your coil or you connected something wrong. hint hint, if you just get your wires straight out of a cable jack their going to be enamelated.

  • you should raise the voice coil and paper plate, so that the magnet sits half way up in the voice coil, and right in the middle. so that the magnet doesn't touch any edge of the voice coil, use 4 wooden dowels or rods or anything along the outside edge of the paper plate to permanently raise, align and support the paper plate and voice coil, in relation to the magnet. that way you will increase efficiency and performance of the speaker.

great job with the proof of concept.

    laters

  • amazing...

  • mythbusters didnt do exactly like in this vid..

  • I am looking at Mythbusters right now, and they tried to make one of those as well, but it failed miserably! :)

  • they made household hacker's under a buck version which isnt right this is the right setup from makemagazine

  • mythbusters didnt do this version of the paper plate speaker

  • this is like a real speaker just different material

  • wow it's amazing!!! i really like this video!!!

  • mine shakes a lot more than that, i have a crappy vid of my old one, but i have a better one now, check it out if you want

  • evil ways? santana?

  • whatta?

  • hey in a microphone theres a good neodymium magnet (if you rip it out) :(

  • really?

  • A magnet and a microphone are almost the same thing. You don't need to take the microphone apart, just use it as the speaker and it will often work (unless there is extra circuitry in the mic that prevents this) it will not be an impressive sound.

  • thats pretty beast.....

it would be awesome if you could play a guitar or bass through it.... that would be beast too.

    eat your carrots.

    see you at camp.

  • You probably could...if you were able to design a relativly simple jack to hook up to ur GUITAR!...or bass in your case.

  • @15turkey15

yeah you can. same way you hook it up to ipods and such. i dont remember how but i do remember u can

  • makes damn good sound for being so simple, how did you build that?

  • plz show how you made it!!!

    soooo cool!

  • true true!

  • ur the nerd for watching this

  • Just Imagine using a 30 mm neodymium magnet!

IT WOULD BE LIKE A HIGH POWER SUBWOOFER!!!!

  • I made a speaker out of a coil of wire (About 3 or 400 turns and a couple of fairly strong magnets from a magnetic sculpture device. The coil was a vertical loop and one half of it went into the gap between the magnets. it was wrapped around a lego former with card attached to make the sound. It didn't go very loud even on a stereo on full volume. How strong are the magnets you're using? You should put some more around the outside facing so that the wire is in the gap of a magnetic field.

  • haha basic physics =) two magnets and a spool with Iron Coils =)

  • Ya It doesn't take long to build

  • hi i got the speaker to work by testing it with a battery but i dont have any audio jacks or any thing i just have some headphones but how do i hook it up to the speaker

  • THanx for watching my video.

To connect the speaker to the headphone set your'e going to have to cut off the jack from the wire and then sprip it down to the wire it's self. Write back and let me know how it goes.

  • hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

  • I'm going to have to ask you how you did that!

  • Cool! I'm going to show this to my son.

  • Very, very Cool!

I'd like to learn more about how you made it and how it works!

Care to make another video? : D

    Mrs. S

  • That is awsome im goin to try to make it :-) what type and sort on magnet did u use????

  • Neodimium...that might be spelled wrong...but according to one of the above comments that isn't the only solution.

  • that is soooooooooooo sweat t your the beast

  • That's pretty neat
