@freeqwerqwer I disagree with you. I don't know if you are talking about his conducting style or his musical styles. But the music that he creates communicates the music very well and offers a fresh version, unlike the homogenous, lush sound other conductors create. As for his conducting, it may be unique but it communicates to the orchestra very well his musical ideas and emotions and in turn create good music. If you just dont like the interpretation, that is not a measure of his aptitude.

@AmelieWuensche Maybe it's because she is an artist? ;-) Do you remember what Antonio Salieri once said while talking to Katerina Cavalieri (a scene from M. Forman's Amadeus film)? He said: "Looks and talent don't always go together, Katerina"... And she replied: "Looks don't concern me, maestro. Only talent interests a woman of taste" ;-)
@smmlr a beutiful Movie to Describe Uchida, She is Beutiful and so is her music, She Plays Mozart with her heart, Schubert with her soul, Schumann with all her tecnique and Beethoven with all her humanity = )
@manuelspcool Yes, I am. I come from Poland and so does Mr. Daniel Stabrawa, 1st concertmaster (1. Konzertmeister) for this concert (he was born and studied in Cracow/Kraków), as well as several other members of the orchestra :-)
By the way, do you remember that this year we celebrate the 200th anniversary of both R. Schumann's and F. Chopin's births? :-)
@smmlr that's so cool I love play the pieces of Chopin, this is a year of parties for Schumann and Chopin two musicians that change the romantic period greetings = )

I saw the Berliner with Mitsuko Ushida in Paris last night. It was a fantastic concert. What an orchestra and Mitsuko Ushida was superbe in Beethoven's 4th piano concerto
beautiful resonance in the hall ad of course it's because madam Uchida plays so beautifully and the orchestra goes in a wonderful harmony with sir Rattle.
and we wonder why younger people dont get into classical music! She wears something unique... not unclassy or risque... and gets loads of criticism because of it.
I say the reason people are not willing to be a part of classical music is the stuck up, black dress, tux with tails, quiet reverence for the music, clap after the last movement and leave attitude that has developed.

What the hell was she thinking between 2:15 and 2:22? Why did she suddenly slow down? I don't get it?!! She completely ruined the rhythm and synchrony with the orchestra!!
I think she intentionally delayed to get extra reverb-like effect to add bravura to this triumphant moment. And maybe because the soft waltz rhythm follows next, so she just wanted to sound a bit more Viennese style, which usually adds extra delayed accent to waltz.
I love this piece, the piano playing is awe inspiring, and the rest of the orchestra makes this piece epic. Im not sure why but the beginning of the piece reminds me of music you would hear in a Diamond commercial around Christmas time. "Zales, Diamonds are forever" *not making fun of the piece* but its pretty sweet 5/5

Think before you open your mouth bro. I am nor saying your music is shit but try to be wise.
tireless efforts to bring music to it's heights. You, as Germans, must be extremelyproud of Schumann - who would have thought that a drunk insecure, unemplyed failed concert pianist would one day be a Legend, whose music is played in the most distinguished concert halls in the world, with reverence. Long Live Schumann!!!!!!
Es ist ein beweis dafür das ästethik so induviduell ist. Musikalisch absolute höhenflug,..wenig feinfühligkeit was outfit betrifft..was ist mehr wert ? ...
I agree, she wears weird clothes! Top pianist though, the type who never shows off, the composer comes first, not the performer, along the lines of lili Kraus, Arrau, Schiff etc..
But this is the best version I ever heard of this magnificent piece of music! Great, both Mitsuko Uchida and the BPO with the always amazing Simon Rattle!

Smooth with new-laid snow,

From the cold evening glow.
There was no other creature
That hear what I could hear --
I stood and watched the evening star
As long as it watched me.

To Bluewing04. I am a musician as well and I couldn`t believe what you posted here. What is worse, you suggested us to check out Judy and yourself. Are you insane?
Think before you open your mouth bro. I am nor saying your music is shit but try to be wise.
Respect others!
Thanks

That's a treacherous section for the orchestra between 0:20 and 0:40 - very difficult to feel the beat. I like the way Rattle helps with this. Bravo.

Her coat is very fine silk, just like her playing.

Such clarity in her playing. Passage-work always very musical under her fingers. Very inspired playing.

Thank you Berlin Philharmoniker for your
tireless efforts to bring music to it's heights.

Why does she wear a rain wear?
Is she fire brigade member?

I searched and searched...
But this is the best version I ever heard of this magnificent piece of music! Great, both Mitsuko Uchida and the BPO with the always amazing Simon Rattle!
