  • What's a beeper

  • .....meanwhile in 2011, Justin Bieber brings out a brand of perfume for girls just in time for Christmas.

    The grasping little money-slut.

  • Was this a hidden track on 3 Feet High and Rising or just a B side to 'Eye Know'?

  • and what do we think about Hammer?!

  • @ERNST205 HUBLALALALALABABBAl!

  • What a beat!

  • jeff my name is jeff...that kid is dope

  • Brain Washed Followers connections 1989-2011

1989:gold chains and nugget rings 2011:black diamonds and gaudy chains

1989: Jeeps, Maximas, Benz, Jeeps 2011: Lambos, Ferraris ,Maybachs, Phantoms

1989: Champagne 2011: Nuvo, Ciroc, Mascado

1989: NWA, LL Cool J (1989) 2011: YM/CMB, Bricksquad, Soulja Boy and those SODMG bastards

See the comparisons....Very alike...but the differences is the generations

    In '89, Hip-hop was evolving.....In 2011, Hip-hop is most likely dissolving

    UNWASH YOUR MINDS!!

  • nice track to have on here. I couldn't find the vinyl but of course it's on @youtube. props

  • That was awesome stuff. It may not have been the intention, but whoever came up with that idea really knew how to mess with people who were stoned when they discovered it! Ha ha! God i miss the 80's.

  • what's the piano sample from? I know it's Ray Charles but I dunno what song.

And the sample at like 0:52

    thanks fellas

  • @lJohnnyTheFoxl Yeah...they sampled The Ray Charles Orchestra's "Booty Butt<' Ruby Andrews-"You made A Believer Out of Me' (beginning), but that horn sample escapes me...the artist is on the tip of my tongue, but I can't get it! I hate when that happens! (LOL)

  • @lJohnnyTheFoxl the horn sample is from the Godfather of Soul. it's from James Brown's "Funky President".

  • You are C-R-A-Z-E-E haha that kids funny. I shouldnt be callin him kid, he's prob older than me. De La explains the truth in this "song" DON'T BE BRAINWASHED! shame that millions of people are tsk tsk =X

  • won't trade by q-tip

  • @iTTFNcrew i see you have his album :)

    KOOL!!

  • Where was this track 'hidden'?

  • @murcuryvapor it's actually part of a 3 sided 12 inch. Eye Know. There are two records laid on side B. You either have to bump your turntable or needle drop to hear either record. De la Soul has always been a step higher than that normal rapping BULL!

  • wasn't it on the 12 inch of "Me,Myself & I"? It was a 3-sided single as well...unless it was done on "Eye Know" single too...

  • @uVueD2b you are correct i got the vinyl still even tho i fucc'n scratched it up damn 3 sided record haha yell

  • Damn Kanye probably thinks his 808's heartbreak was a ahead of his time. Bullshit. I'm 17yrs old and this song shows what is exactly wrong with my generations rap music. De La Soul is awesome. I think i'm going to buy this cd, ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What's what is even better of the three feet hi cd single

  • Comment removed

  • Man, kanye aint goin through shit. hes still makin enough money to not care at all if people wanna hate him right now cause hes still producing music that those same people love, hating on kanye is a fad and he probably knows this.

That being said i thought he was lame before it was even cool to think he was lame. now i think he rules!

yeah De La Soul is the shit

  • die kayne die

this is the real deal in hip hop/ rap and it will never be the same

  • aint kool to wish death on ppl. i aagree kanye fell off but u never know what that man's goin thru.

  • yea i agree but hes back on his shit check out this song " im so appauled" new shit

  • aite

  • yup!

  • DANG!! Q-tip used this beat : )

  • The Bush Babees also used this sample for "Clear My Throat".

  • sick beat...but what the fuck are they going on about

  • ppl bein brainwashed on materialism

  • talking about there is better things to spend your time and money on then material possessions and bullshit status. But, they are the rawest B-boys that can still wreck shop.

  • no dought

  • C.R.A.Z.E.E

  • well actually our verbal is kinetic so when released flow a to z is perfectly picked in events and interests

  • Slammin !

  • wItH ThE CoSt oF GaS I RaThEr TaKe a tRaNsIt tHaTs MaSs

  • everybody wears beepers.

  • this was on the "Me Myself and I" 12" single on VINYL. i emphasize vinyl because on the same B-side as this song, was a remix of "Me Myself and I". one of the songs "occupied" the grooves of the vinyl. the other song occupied the grooves between the grooves of the first song. so depending how you placed the needle on the turntable at the beginning of the record, you would hear this song or the other one. i am fortunate enough to have this on wax and i'll forever love hip-hop on vinyl!

  • That's CRAZY SHIT! That's the first record I've heard of that did that. That has GOT to be worth something to a collector.

  • @mcultra Depending how you placed the needle!! Dope!!

  • @mcultra

nice point! I also have this on vinyl :) but i originally had this on cassingle!!! remember those?

  • @mcultra thats crazy

  • @alexdelgiudice1 you don't like vinyl!

  • @lekasha08 what are you talking about im a vinyl fiend

  • @mcultra You bet your ass you're lucky as hell to have this single.

  • wont trade?

  • Same sample ;-) Ruby Andrews with 'You made a believer out of me'.

  • Thats Chi-Ali!!!! For You Guys That Don't Know!

  • Be honest. Where did you hear that from, Wikipedia?

  • AND VIDEO GAMESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • This is on the Me Myself and I single.

WHAT THE HELL is that sample that starts at :23 with the guitar and piano???

  • Haha I got it 2 minutes later: Ray Charles: "Booty Butt".

I fucking love sampling. It's such a different experience hearing a lick/loop in the setting of the original and then the sampling track, but rarely is one better or worse.

  • i got a best-of album from 1989... this track is on that alb.. i like this beat since then. it´s o´school

  • this cut was on a single back in the day when 2 cuts would be on a tape singe you could get for $3.99...dela always had xtra shyt on their singles...

  • I don't think this was hidden on the 3 feet high album. I bought the "special edition" that came with an extra disc a couple of years ago. that's the only time i heard this one. but then again, i never heard the original pressing from back in the day. it must've been on the vinyl tho. don't know. but they did bring the "Jeff" character back on the De La Is Dead....man, I miss these days. Even the "fake" rappers back then had more skills than the punks of today...

  • Ha Ha you're right. Back then we thought we were being musical snobs. Like you say, most modern rappers lack the skills of the weaker rappers back then. In a way HipHop has regressed.

  • Yeah Jeff the Brainwashed follower got his beatings from Hemroid,LOL.

  • @steeltownbrown52 Yeah From De La Soul Is Dead Album.

  • well damn no wonder i never heard this i bought it on cassette

  • This track must be well hidden. Been listenin to the album 15 years and never came across it.

  • it's also on the b-side of the

me, myself and I single. (vinyl)

  • man, get a loan, just go!!! or you'll regret it always

  • amen! To some folk 80 bucks aint major but I'm a student naaamean. I had to beg my old man to pay for it on his credit card and let me pay that shit back in installments!

  • De La is worth it all the time no doubt ! .. One of the best Hiphop Crews ever... Long Islands finest and reppin wit the truth word up !

  • I'm trying to decide wether to see these guys or not, they're awesome but tix are sooooo expensive.

  • go.....its worth it.

  • i heard the same beat of this song from a song from Q-Tip, Won't Trade.

  • The original song is from Ruby Andrews

  • i'm 34, and i still play this album. play it on my zune alday everyday lol

  • a hidden track? i have this cd. were do i find this track??

  • i think its on the limited edition CD

  • @andyhibbert it's on the Me Myself & I 7''

  • hidden? what this one? i have this on a 12 inch

  • @heylover3 it's on the b side of the'me, myself and I' 12", they put the wrong picture up.

  • @heylover3 This skit is actually on the "De La Soul is Dead" album minus the beat.

  • i meant the comments about the vaudio,

  • now only if i could convince tila tequila fans to be this polite and respectful...

  • why do they say rahhh! after def?? inside thing??

  • you see those grandmaster flash/sugarhill gang songs they used to go 'HUHH' and 'RAHH' a lot so i guess theyre just reliving the old times

  • @RHOTSERLOK I think because they don't like 'black' slang. They would rather hear him speak properly.

  • @RHOTSERLOK its cause its one of those trendy words that was going around.

just like "chill", and "legit" are today... oh and "fo sho". stupid ass words people make up to sound cool and just cant stop saying. mainly brainwashed followers of pop and c"rap"=crap.

    ya dig?

  • @RHOTSERLOK They are making a mockery of played out terms like "def" and "buggin" which were 80's rapper slang....."ruhhhh" was the signature of Melle Mel the old school rapper....got it?

  • fooz cap an black madalions great album..

  • WHOAH this skit is about 20 years old now, and still damn actual. Thank you for uploading this one andyhibbert. Awesome, just fucking awesome.

  • no problem

  • this is hott...you are c-r-a-z-e-e

  • samples:

"You Made A Believer Out Of Me"-Ruby Andrews

    "Booty Butt"-The Ray Charles Orchestra

damn De La Soul and Prince Paul were diggin' for those samples!

  • wait wait, did i say def...RAHHHH!! lol

  • wow that was awesome

  • Remember rockin the import on cassette months before they blew up in the UK and Hip Hop really crossed over to the mainstream....

  • its funny to listen to de la soul talkin about beepers and such cuz this was such a long time ago. its crazy to think how the young generation of kids were influanced by bling, girls and cars because thats what fake artists talked about. and now its happening tell today to the new generation of kids.

  • were you around when de la soul released this?

  • Oh man, this takes me back. I first heard this on the B-side of the 'Me, Myself and I' 7". Was it a hidden track on the tape, or just the CD? I had the album on tape, and I don't remember it being on there.

  • I think it was just on the LP because I never heard about it being on the CD

  • Jeff...jeff...jeff...my name's jeff! funny...

  • video games! hahaha

  • hahahah

  • Video Games Is Fun As Hell.
