WRONG THE GUITAR PLAYERS IN THIS SO CALLED PUSSY METAL OR YOU CALL IT DEATH METAL THESE BANDS ARE SO LAME ITS NOT FUNNY AND THE GUITAR PLAYERS SUCK THEY CANT EVEN SOLO OVER THERE OWN CHORD PATTERNS.
@INCOMINGFIST says the guy that listens to buckethead lmao have you ever heard botnus?! thats a hardcore track. buckethead is amazing and you are and idiot.
great video we do receive alot of hate ... we also play shows for about ten bucks a person after driving 6 hours to get to the little bar we play in ... and thats AFTER we get a record deal ... appreciate that somebody shows respect where alot of people fail to because we are one of the only genres left with no 'stars' and limited commercialization, making music purely for the love of the music and the fanbase. mucho respect
She's really talented..infact one of the few musicians to actually say something NEW on guitar. A female combination of Randy Resnick,David Lindley, Bill Frisell & Stanley Jordan. Bravo Kaki King!
I agree with her. But sick drums plus sick bass plus sick guitar does not equal a band. I mean, look at Nirvana. Hella good with shit vocals, shit guitar, okay drums, and okay bass. Its not what its made of, its how it tastes.
My nipples just got so hard. I'm so happy that she actually has such a wide appreciate for music, the markings of a truly great musician :D. I wonder if she listens to Opeth...
plus...godsmack fucking sucks and so do " hardcore " bands. they are fucking garbage. guitar sucks. bass sucks. drums can be decent. vocals suck. hardcore went out with the misfits, black flag, suicidal tendencies and bad brains. that was hardcore music. they weren't scary...you could hear every word they said. so once again i stress...never take musical advice from a woman. especially a lesbian with huge eye brows.
She may have said Hardcore but the title specifys Death Metal, and its generally a misconception to say hardcore when you mean EXTREME, which is what death metal is. As for the woman/lesbian comment, your a fucking bigot. You should be taking musical advice from her because she's a fucking amazing musician and not for what her gender is or what her sexual orientation may be.
Perfect example of a metal band going mainstream: Avenged Sevenfold. Sounding the Seventh Trumpet ans Waken the Fallen were excellent metal albums.... they went to shit after that though.
Funny how people who DONT like metal are so quick to judge and condemn metal heads. I LOVE metal - Nile, Emperor, Devin Townsend, Cryptopsy, Pantera, Meshuggah Cannibal Corpse etc etc. I also really love Kaki Kings music. Oh and Stravinsky, Bjork, Tegan and sara, tom petty, jazz, mozart, Aphex Twin... I could go on. funny how you none metal heads tell US to broaden our horizons....how about you do the fucking same????
Indeed. I play death metal, and although I don't particularly like the metal bands you listen to, I thought it funny I also like Aphex Twin/Tom Petty/Kaki King/etc.
Plenty of kids dress scene and play a 3 minute breakdown, viewing themselves as an epitome to heavy music. Metal is definitely overlooked for its talent not only in performing very technical pieces, but arranging them too. Some of the heaviest metal bands are also the most melodic...All Shall Perish is a good example I think.
just goes to show that we can be far more diverse than what they can. What bands do you like man? if you play Dm you must enjoy NILE? the new album is wicked
@fatboyphil044 I think all of us who appreciate metal, and are musicians ourselves will have an ecliptic taste ranging from Beethoven to the locust. I wish metal was looked at and respected as is should be, but with its "harsh/violent content" I'm not sure it will ever be respected by most people. they'll hear the first 20 seconds and write it off as noise without even trying to analyze whats really going on musically, or structurally. I'm glad kaki is letting people know whats up!!
ha! you people are retarded...i dont listen to just metal. i listen to everything. from biggie to crosby stills nash and young, so dont bash me for being a 'metal head' which i am not. i actually listen to more acoustic music than anything...hedges, ross, forastiere, dufour , vallour. they are amazing. i can understand how some people who have never heard this style of guitar prior to kaki could think it was very impressive...but there are much more talented guitar players out there...
Maybe I'm the only guitarist in this forum. Does anyone else realize how incredibly technical Kaki's compositions are? All I hear are comments about irrelevant shit, metal music, her eyebrows and blah blah blah..why are you commenting this video in the first place? Go...get your ass kicked in a mosh pit or something. lol
It's all a matter of opinion, Kenobi. You sound really chauvinistic and ignorant, just so you know. Gender has nothing to do with intelligence, creativity, or talent. If you stopped smoking crack and headbanging long enough to listen to some of Kaki's music you would know that her talent transcends gender, and is just pure fucking awesomeness. :DD
I like most of the bands you listed, but THERE'S AN ENTIRE WORLD OF MUSIC BEYOND METAL! Peace out, you narrow-minded fuck.

metal bands that are not popular... pantera metallica maiden slayer testament sabbath anthrax megadeth meshuggah lamb of god... god...never take musical advice from a broad.
It just didn't seem like you were voicing an opinion; looked more like a definitive statement to me. And you sort of came off as sort of a douche, but... that's just my opinion after all, right? =P
@KenobiFromCoruscant I'm guessing you've never heard Kaki King play guitar. She doesn't play metal, as far as I know, but she can appreciate it... you're so small minded. It's pretty lame that you judge people, an entire gender no less, and have no idea what you're talking about... ignorant.
im not bashing a whole gender...im just saying never take musical advice from a woman...its never steered me wrong. i know this broad doesnt play metal...she just has seizures on ovations and calls them songs. kaki king is okay but everybody on her videos makes her out to be a "guitar god" which she is most definitely not...
@superwolf76 Yes. I thought the same about Emma Watson. Don't get me wrong--she's still hot, bobbed cut and plucked eyebrows and all. But I liked her with thicker eyebrows more for some reason.
I totally agree. I listen to metal alot and i like Kaki's music too.
One good example of a very talented metal band is Opeth. They have released a totally clean non death metal album alongside a full progessive death metal one.
Opeth isnt really death metal though. heavy yes, but not really death metal, the death grunts and double bassing is really the only thing that makes them even close to death metal. i think shes talking about bands like Cannibal Corpse, Behemoth or Zyklon.
every time i try and ask people what metal bands to check out to get good music no one agrees and whatever recommendation i get gets countered by 20 people saying that band sucks
I love the music of both Kaki and many metal bands. Just like any music, there is a lot of metal out there with no artistic credibility, and there are metal bands out there with more of a message than any other musician could ever capture. I like avant-garde/astral-rock because they convey ideas that are far from mundane to say the least. Check out the video i posted of some bands i like for an example of artistic credibility in metal. Ill gladly make a video with more bands if you like it.
Don't worry, Kaki, death metal bands don't give two sh*ts about what you think of them, they aren't concerned about making it onto the next Juno or Garden State soundtrack. BTW lumping Godsmack in with death metal is like lumping you in with the spice girls.
On a side note, you're totally adorable and I wish I knew you.
she's one cool chick, i agree death metal bands got talent, but their weakest points are that they lack rhytmical diversity (insane rhytmic sections, but they usually sound alike too much, quite different from avant-garde metal), they use too much distortion so only very few people can distinguish their musical complexity, the lyrics are kinda generic but the thing that really turns off the cultured listeners is that the vocal style is miserably mediocre, it's ALWAYS loud crude yelling
of course, i accept most of those points are my personal opinion and can be countered, but i think my last point is the strongest, i'm not saying fans shouldn't like the interminable yelling, i respect likings, but after so much work it takes to compose the musical pieces in death metal, i see the yelling as an excuse to attract some headbangers, while killing the musical complexity achieved in the process, finally typecasting and alienting the whole genre
The very first thing that jumps into sight, is that death metal vocals are not "crude yelling". Technique is needed if the singer doesnt want to end destroying it's throat in the process. Also, there are (a very few, i admit) really incredible voices over there. Some growls that cannot be imitated.
Saddly, the trademark of DM is the growls, rather than the music. Still, Im much more into technical DM than regular. The last one (ironically) bores me to death.
With regards to screaming vocals taking away from the performance of a death metal piece, who's to say that the southern drawl we hear on just about every country song, is any different?I think that singing in every song takes away from the performances of the studio musicians that play on them. They are accomplished musicians as well.I am a fan of metal music, and a musician as well.I think that you are criticizing a genre of music for one of the things that identifies it as a genre.
"I think that you are criticizing a genre of music for one of the things that identifies it as a genre. "
True, that's why I hate labels. I am a musician too, and my band plays a so called "thrash/death metal" genre. So, as you might guess, I cant hate growls at all. I just say that I dont like that the only difference (that a lot of) people see between, let's say, death and black metal is the voice.
hey take your lips off my dick.
