The Stranglers are much better now since Paul Roberts has left . I hated that "front man" look . Baz Warne is excellent & Hugh is a tosser. Thought he could do a Sting & fucked up

@patx29 you have to understand that a main part of the appeal of this band is that unlike other lesser talented bands, they have never set themselves apart form therr fans. as a bunch of intelligent men they are aware that although their contribution to music is valid, they have not found a cure for cancer or managed to prevent starvation and corruption in 3rd world countries. as such they consider themselves to be ordinary men ( which they are) who are simply creating music.

@patx29 the fact that people on here are able to speak of converstaions and meetings only demonstrates how accessible this band make themselves to their fans. they do not consider that they are superior in any way and relate to their supporters in a warm and generous manner. this is a testament to them as people , they have maintained their integrity and keep firmly rooted.they are after all ordinary people. i personally think its great that people can talk of their experiences with the band.

What's that George?-The split was quite acrimonious and Hugh wants no more association with The Stranglers.and has hardly spoken since....SO......the rattles out eh.....How bloody childish and small minded can you get!!!! I have met both Hugh and Paul on several occasions and I can tell you who is more personable and FUN to be with !!!!---No!--go on, you have a guess!!!!

I've known all of them and, sadly, it's Hugh who remains bitter . . . And, has a go at the others on any occasion he can. It's almost pathological. Shame and a waste, he was very talented . . .

Bloody true! I love the old Stranglers, met JJ a few times,he say`s it was like losing a brother,and that he tried to call him a few times! ? Hugh, who I`ve met quite a bit doesn`t have JJ`swarmth,and indeed does seem quite bitter about the old band........

Love Hughs new stuff, BUT- funny how half his set is old Stranglers material!?

@LabiaLicker1 i know what you mean. hgh seems to not want to make peace. i spoke with him over the phone thanks to my cousin who went to a show of his in NY. JJ seems like hes down to earth awesome bloke, not that hugh isnt. but its true JJ has tried contacting hugh few times in the past but hugh has not returned his call... wish i could met them all. but they hardly tour the states :(

@oblongfan1 I`ve met all of the stranglers, JJ def a very warm,funny individual,extremely approachable. Dave more introverted,a nice geez! Hugh tho, i`ve met 4 times,and unfortunately on 2 occasions he was the one who fitted up his own ass most,sadly.

@LabiaLicker1 I KNEW THEM PRETTY WELL AND WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO SPEND TIME WITH THEM BETWEEN 78 AND 81 WHILST THEY WERE ON TOUR. JJ WROTE TO ME REGULARLY EVEN FROM JAPAN. I FOUND THEM TO BE AS YOU DESCRIBE, I ALWAYS FOUND HUGH TO BE A SULLEN GIT, BUT JJ IS SO FUNNY AND FRIENDLY. I MET JJ AGAIN AFTER 20 YEARS AND HE WAS JUST AS LOVELY HE ALWAYS WAS..
