Ricky sings with such feeling. And his backup band and singers deliver the true feeling and message of this song. I've been listening to it for a couple of days straight. I'll add it my solo repertoire. The best!!!

Back In 1982 I Was Going Into My Senior Year In High School,I Saw Ricky@the lake county fairgrounds in painesville,Ohio,T Totally Awesome five dollars to get in, ride the rides,Plus Two Ricky Skaggs Shows,Will never forget it,but my brother pointed out to me that he was the true skaggs fan, just because of guitar pick,I Understand Now.....
times change so does music what we call good is not good to others so respect others all said this old stuff kicks this new shits BUTT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ricky, vince, george, and many others in country music really know what life is truely about... Thank god for these people they have really touched a lot of hearts. I truely love this music..
I listen to ALMOST every type of music from death metal to rap, from bluegrass to techno. I love it all. I would never know of Ricky Skaggs without my local indie radio station 88.1 KDHX. Thank you guys!
This song just tears at my heart and yet I love to listen to it over and over. Sometimes my chest literally aches with sadness at the sorrowful story this song depicts.
If I find the right girl someday and finally get married I think this song will help me to hopefully appreciate my wife properly and never forget to tell her I love her.
@Ben2China This song is one of the greats - it does say so much. A lot to think about for sure. When you do find the right girl to marry I feel she will be very fortunate to have a husband who is very sensitive and caring. God bless. - Paula
Would one of the fiddle players on this cut be Bobby Hicks? Is it Bruce Boughton on the steel?
This is classic Ricky...saw him three times live in our neighborhood in as many years and if he was still doing music of this caliber I'd go see him again.....
This is my very favorite song by Ricky. He sings it just the way I like. I've always loved it by other artists, too, but Ricky is the tops for me. His band is terrific, too. This song is sung Karaoke at our American Legion Post and a hit on the juke box. It's so popular. Thank you for posting a winner. - Paula (formerly PaulinaRena).
I love this song :D im 12 and not really into this but when it comes to eally ood music i have to listen to it o matter what people say this is what my ex boyfriend should be singing to me sence he still loves me and watched me go now my big blue eyes are sillin at someone elns :D
My first Ricky Skaggs tape was "Waitin' For The Sun To Shine". Four of us drove from Canada 700 miles to play golf in Viginia. We drove all night with that tape playin' steady all the way. I was so starved for "real" country music that I instantly became a Skaggs fan. That was in 1984 & I have been a fan of him since. Whenever I go to the Opry & him and/or Vince gill's on, it just makes my trip. Now at the Opry there's far too much of the new & not enough of the old. This is Opry tradition.
Ricky does a great job with this terrific classic. The band sounds wonderful, too. Didn't Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs also have this on record? I do so love this song - perfect country song and all the entertainers who have done it are really special. Thank you for posting - Paula
I think every Country artist has a signature song -- one song that touches your heart so completely that you immediately know who that artist is because the song brings back wonderful memories. This is Ricky Skaggs's signature song.
I agree this is Ricky's signature song. I love all of his music but this is my favorite. I love the song, even though it's sad, but such great songwriting. He has a distinctive voice and st yle. It would be wonderful if there were some of today's modern country (??) artists who would do some songs like this. As long as we still have some of the traditional country artists (Ray Price, Gene Watson, George Strait, Merle, George, Ronnie, etc.) we'll have some good music. - Paula
My heart just melts every time I hear this song not only because of Ricky Skaggs's incredible tenor voice, but also because of that wonderful steel guitar crying all through the song. Thanks for posting. This is true Country. This is the good stuff.
I love this song! Thank you so much for posting it. This is REAL country music that tugs at the heart and makes you cry in your beer or rootbeer in my case LOL. GREAT.
Me and my grandpa sit around all the time playin this song on our guitars!!!!!
