  • Would LOVE it if Glenn Miller's Army Air Force Band had covered this song!!!!

  • This is as good as it gets ... a classic song being advanced with a respectful interpretation. Thank you.

  • Classic, they don't make songs like this anymore.

  • Man...Dwight laughing at :56 just kills me...he loses it for a second.

  • Cindy Cashdollar on pedel steel! Yes! The band sounds great.

  • This video is gold to me, and what really capped it is Dwight Yoakum's boots, oh my.

  • Now.... this is real music that sounds like music.... wow! Great band... we need more of them.....

  • who is that gorgeous girl playing the steel guitar? Ray calls her "cindy"... does anybody know who she is?

  • @lordsinclair1975 Cindy Cashdollar,

  • @rrmaniii : thanx 1000x. That girl can play! Whish I could do so.... learning to play the pedal steel is a hard job.

  • WOW --- just awesome!!! thank you.

  • I am amazed that Asleep at the Wheel isnt in the top 10 on the country charts all the time. What gives/????

  • Classic Dwight!

  • Dwight looked amazing here! Thanks for posting this.

  • Dwight sings this so Beautifully! Can't believe someone can actually make him look short! :)

  • boy !! does Brother Ray ever looks tall here .......

  • Dwight and Ray... pure heaven!

  • what about bob...jk

  • Fat chance of anyone responding but what is the tuning Cindy C. is using on the 8-string lap for the solo and is that a tremeloe rod on her old fender lap steel? Thanks. Johnny Pal Lap Player

  • @MangoDaVille She has no tremolo on her triple neck Fender Stringmaster, at the end of the solo she uses the tonepoti. Cindys main tunings on her triple neck are:(always from high to low!)

    E13th (E C# B G# F# D G# E )

    C6th hi ( G E C A G E C A )

    A6th ( E C# A F# E C# A F# )

More informations about tunings and string gauges look at JOHN ELY's website, (formerly a member of ASLEEP) ...and of course look on Cindys website.

Cindy is an excellent steelplayer, Sarah Jory too. Hope this helps.

  • @MrGert1960 Thanks for the information on Cindy's set up! That was very kind of you. Johnny

  • @MangoDaVille Hi, I'm glad it helps you. Tunings from other prof.Artists you'll find on JOHN ELY's Website. He was one of Cindys teachers and he played with ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL. You can buy Cindy' s 2 DVD-Set "Learn Western Swing Steel", where she' s playing the triple neck Fender.

  • @MrGert1960 Well, I'll be, I didn't know that Ely played with ATW ~ that certainly adds credibility to his pretty sophisticated site, especially his chord finder. I also had no idea he was one of Cindy's mentors. To be honest, just thought he was a guy who had a steel website ~ he is obviously an accomplished player. Thanks again for your largess! ~ No need to respond ~ Mahalo!

  • VERY COOL !!!!!!

  • always enjoy Asleep At The Wheel..I just can't help it..they're just cool.

  • Bob's smilin' wherever he is. Western Swing will never die!

  • das ist suuuuuper *****lg.Manfred

  • IMHO...this is PERFECT music!

  • OMG , DWIGHT.. This vid is awesome. I luv AATW,... Cindy Cashdollar is a awesome steel player. She's well known this is fantastic ty for sharing

  • The girl on pedal steel was just amazing!

  • @proudbanjoist It's not a Pedal Steel Guitar, it' s a "blonde" triple neck FENDER STRINGMASTER, the Fender Logo is not a pre cbs, I believe the guitar Cindy plays here is an early '70. I own 2 Fender Triple necks(1954 & 1955), this week I'll get my 57er Fender QUADneck; this steelguitars are really amazing!

  • Doin' Bob Proud!

  • Man that fiddle player is awesome!

  • This is kinda neat in Bflat!!

  • @ronscons Think its maybe Aflat

  • OMG its Dwight!!!! yeaaaaa!

  • @cowboy76051 Yeah, and he´s great as usually.

  • PERFECT! Thanx for posting...

  • Dwight sings this song so good,

and the outfit, it looks so cute!! :D

One of my favourite Dwight covers

  • I-IV-IIdom7-V progression, firstly in D. then D-F-A#D# (at 41sec mark) to modulate to key of G# and to the I-IV-IIdom7-V progression. Chorus is V-IIdom7. That part at 41 seconds is GENIUS. Anyone care to explain it to me?

  • Sounds like you've got the idea. heh.

  • Dwight sang in his *natural* voice.

This is the first time I've heard him do that.

    Man is he great.

I just bought his album The Very Best Of Dwight Yoakam and I love it.

No wonder the girls get moist.

  • what do you mean by his natural voice?

  • dwight is f-in awsome love atw too

  • Seen them live twice......superb !!!!!

  • Good arrange of this song.

    Jason's Fiddle is awesome.

yes Cindy's Lapsteel is terrific too.

  • Who's the fiddle player ?

    He's great !

  • Jason Roberts is the fiddle player. I think he has some solo albums out, search the internet & the website.

  • ça déménage ! extra !

  • Great lap solo by Cindy Cashdollar!!

    Man I love her =)

  • I love! this song with Dwight! I wish he would record it. He has a true and one of kind voice. Where is he anyway, we miss you Dwight!!!

  • Dwight Yoakam's latest CD Dwight Sings Buck was released on New West Records in Oct. 2007. He's been busy acting and will be in the upcoming Crank 2 and has a couple others in production.

  • @jahs4819 Dwight has recorded it. It's on his CD "In Others' Words."

  • Not a classic Dwight song, but as the true professional that he is, adds nothing but his sweet sultry vocals.

  • I reckon that great Bob Wills song was never done better than Merl Haggards version, he truly does the old western swing songs justice. But -thanks be,also, to Asleep At The Wheel for carrying the torch! great post.

  • There's a reason why Merle Haggard did such a great version. He was Bob Wills' fiddler at one point.

  • Wow I had never see this one before! Thanks for posting it! Dwight did an awesome job as he always does!! Love him in anything!

  • the legs!! the legs!! the legs!!

i just pissed my heart out

  • the laugh brings the dorah

  • I loooooooooooooooooooooooove it with you Dwight! I heard it with Patsy Cline but love it more with you! wonderful vioce and sexy moves!

  • i must disagree with you, Dwight is always great. and yes, asleep at the wheel are great.

  • I'm sorry about this, my friend, it was only my opinion. Anyway, my favourite versions are Patsy Cline and Commander Cody. Greetings from Spain

  • you are definately entitled to your opinion.

i've never heard commander cody do this song.

i like Dwight, because he has his own style

    with everything he sings.

  • For sure, if you give me your mail adress, I'll send you a copy of Commander's version

  • Dwight looks naked without his guitar.

  • Love it!

  • Sublime !

  • Great!

  • when did this happen?

  • I just adore Dwight Yoakam so much.

I can't get enough of Dwight Yoakam.

  • I love this band (Asleep at the Wheel) and, of course, Mr. Dwight Yoakam. Great stuff!!
