Hi, this is not Shawn Phillips himself but his site admin here on YT. I would love to have that record for his collection that I have been entrusted with and for archiving purposes.
Please let me know how we can trade for one of these wonderful 45's of his.
@shawnphillips Is there any way that Arlo can get with EMI's licensing department about leasing the masters to both sides of this single for a stereo remix? I keep hoping for a rarities CD. Thank you!
Unfortunatly that would cost too much money and no resources are at hand to fund that exchange. Thank you for asking though. Still interested in an exchange for the 45 record?
It would be a treat to have both sides of this 45 along with "Lost Horizon" and any other non-LP cuts from Shawn remastered and released on a rarities CD. This song in stereo would really be great!
@notwhatyoudexpect Thanks for the comment - would be nice to hear a good stereo mix of this... never thought of it, but you're absolutely right... let's hope they find the original masters so that they can remix it and do that CD you're hoping for!
@oscarowski Record companies at that time were very persnickety about their artists performing on other artists' records. I wonder if Shawn's being on Parlophone at this time made it easier for him to be permitted to sing backup on "Lovely Rita" on "Sgt. Pepper"? I just saw him in concert for the first time last month and wish that I had remembered to ask him about this 45. I was so starstruck that it's amazing that I was even able to have a conversation with him at all! LOL
@notwhatyoudexpect Dind't know about the Lovely Rita backing... cool. I have 2 Columbia 45's with him (Nobody listens is a fave, that I'll upload in the future) + I used to have copies of his first two LP's on WB,but gone to a friend who listens to them more often. Never had an orig. of the Columbia LP (his first). He has a wide spectrum musically I'd say, spanning from pure folk to heavier prog-like sounds.
