  • @olivenoire1 lol Mac.

  • @olivenoire1 I do. :D But only by 2 seconds. I have a MBP as well.

  • Using XP on an SSD is a surefire way to kill your SSD. XP doesn't have TRIM, you should be using windows 7 with these drives.

  • $3000 for 3.5 ssd, COOL, so not worth the boot time

  • @David2377 more like $339.00 for a 100gb OCZ Vertex SSD

  • @wicked4u2c fuck up bullshit not 2 secs. i7 980x can't even do that.

And as for ssdisk (more like so suck dick) fuck up a core 2 duo couldn't do this and at least do this on a late operating system "oh my core 2 duo is so fast! It can boot up a fresh copy of windows 3.1 in under 19 minutes"

  • @KarateKid430 My Core 2 Duo 1.8 Ghz T7100 Mobile processor in Dell D630 managed to boot Windows XP in 5 seconds. If you don't believe me check my video on my channel. Windows 7 in 12 seconds and Windows Vista in 14. Core 2 is awesome.

  • So he started up a fresh copy of windows on a formatted disk... big friggin deal.

  • @Outmind01 do u know that what u are calling "disk" is actually bulit up AS RAM? say hello to SSD!

  • But if you want to measure the SSD and windows performance it's best not to count the BIOS starting up since it has nothing to do with how fast the SSD is. Counting from when windows began loading, it took 7 seconds. Nice! Also there is this weird beach ball icon under your video. When I press it, it plays the sound of buzzing bees. Seems like a youtube trick. Look above views at the icons. 1st icon does this. I wonder how this got there.

  • the loader bar didn't even show up! :O

  • @bmw2go11 u can turn that on or off in the bios settings :P

  • My Windows SSD with Windows 7 loads faster and shuts down in under 2 seconds. Your shutdown was very slow.

  • mtron ssd is the fastest ssd today

  • its ssd retard

  • it takes more time to shutdown than to start up!!!!

    amazing!!!

  • it wuz slow to shutdown and startup on my small acer):

  • its slow on my computer too!and its a full computer!

  • my to ^_^

  • Wow, that was so fast

  • lol my windows takes more like 2 mins just to get to the desktop, and then nothing will react for another 3 mins.

  • I boot about just as fast with a 36gb raptor I found from a scrapped computer in my quad.

  • Care to show us a video? I doubt it boots just as fast, if Im correct SSD's read and write about 2-3X faster than your raptor.

  • read yes, write no.

  • 16gb? Wouldn't do.

  • you put the OS on the SSD and put all your other things in a HDD

    save a LOT of time

  • Absolutely! I run a 32GB SSD with Windows XP, Office, Nero and a few Games like GTA-SA. Still have around 15GB left over. All my documents were moved to a HDD.

  • yah but I want speed on data too because i have programs that would fill that disk with out the os on it by it self currently my steam folder is 200gigs..

  • really fast.

but i think there is no drivers installed.

  • Disable the startup sounds in the control panel under sound click the sound tab and disable all of the sounds that the computer makes at startup!

  • thats the fastest i have ever seen windows do anything!!!!!

  • haha

  • If you disabled the shutdown sound, you wouldn't have to wait for it to play while showing "Logging Off". Because that's the only thing you're waiting for and you can have the fastest drive in the world and it wouldn't matter. Plus, it's annoying, anyway.

  • isit how do you disable it though?

  • its pretty fast but not blazing fast for a memory chip drive, me gigabte i-ram boots xp pro (untweaked) from 0 to desktop in 4 seconds flat, that mtron has write latencies of about 7 milliseconds wich is the same as a the average write speeds of the wd raptor, iram works in the micro-seconds range, only problem is that 4 GB wont seat vista. SSd's should soon get a speed overhaul and a massive price drop though.

  • I know that was mega beastly fast but if you want it to go faster I always see a huge improvement disabling the welcome screen.

  • an ssd running on raid0 boy would i like to see that

  • Would an OCZ Core Series SSD (MLC) startup that fast?

  • Micron has just announced that their new SSDs available in the fall with have sustained read/write speeds of 250Mb/sec & 100Mb/sec for the C200 and read/write speeds of 250Mb/sec & 250Mb/sec for the 3 times more expensive P200. Both are available in 2.5 inch form factor.

  • LMFAO!! NICE

  • crazy shit! (OMG, i need one of those flashdrives)

  • Raid 0 is the best for speed :D

  • Just wait 'til SSDs hit 300mb/sec read times in about 2 years.

  • see. just because people have the money to spend. doesnt mean you can criticize them for getting something you dont have.

and plus ssd's reduce loading time allowing more efficient use of a computer

  • Plus they're silent and about 90% more energy efficient. So yeah, Finiras, it's worth the investment. Mtron SSDs will work for at least a 100 years. Data retention is guaranteed for 10 years, without them being powered once in between, even. They can handle shocks (earthquakes etc.), and much more heat. Try and beat that.

In case you forgot: Energy is expensive.

  • its not only boot time, stupid. Don't you do anything other than boot up your computer?

Working with cubase must be awsome with this. I hate loading times.

  • Once their cost get reduced they will be awesome...

  • yea for now it's like buying a laptop or desktop with that price 128gb cost like 999,-euros

  • Check out OCZ's new Core range. They're cheap as chips.

  • I have a Pentium 3 800 MHz laptop running off a 5400 rpm 20GB hard drive that boots a clean installation of XP Pro in about 13 seconds. People seem to think SSD means faster, and it only means faster random access times and NOT faster sequential reads - and sequential writes are even worse.

SSDs aren't what people think they are, not yet. They've got years to go before they'll match the performance of today's high end physical hard drives. But they'll get there eventually - just not yet. :)

  • You're not very well informed about their current status, I'm afraid.

  • clean... wait till you have all programs installed you will load slower

  • Do you ever do any research before announcing something? How does the amount of data on your hard drive slow the startup? Yes it will if you're stupid not to disable the useless and unnecessary startup programs.

  • pure xp without drivers starts in one stripe or so on average hdd

the same xp with drivers starts in 6-7 stripes

  • This video could easily be faked, where's the audio for one... Acbercr0mbie4life: wtf is wrong with you for buying overpriced prep clothing?

  • How well will it do in gaming!

  • not well, SSDrives have very limited read/write times, meaning after a few years, the drive would be dead.

  • that's no longer the case. SSD is actually more reliable, at least for the top of the line ones like memoright and mtron. And for games, they fly. If you are a gamer, a pair of mtron or memoright drives in raid 0 is a must.

  • my Windows 98 beats this computer: it starts up in about 8 seconds, BIOS included, and it shuts down instantly: less than a second.

With an 8 GB hard drive and 128mb of RAM, no Bios Tweak or startup tweak.

Now: Who want's to challenge me?

  • Comment removed

  • I can boot my MSDOS machine and start WP5.1 via autoexec.bat... in under 8sec.

  • lol

  • Today I wait about as long as I waited for my windows 95 beta version I had as a kid. I had a 30 Mhz Intel processor! Bliss!

The first time I started it up there was a big naked lady on the desktop. Stupid brothers.

  • lol put it on youtube and well see.

  • WOOW

  • And with my RAID0 im faster than that !

  • SSD Raid is 5 times faster that your shitty raid

  • watch?v=5UvLhepli84

Learn what is RAID before talking n00bie.

  • Read this Bitch- starting up the game Fear in comparison with WD Raptor of 150 GB lasted instead of 18.5 seconden only 3.2 seconden! Also copying folders with a size of 1 GB confiscated less than 4 seconden with the SSD raid configuration by no less than 28 seconden with the Raptor.

  • Oh my hecky god, my raptors are in RAID0 + your SSD is in raid !

The speed for both of my video and that video is the SAME SHIT ! With SSD you only get 16Gb of data but me i get 400Gb. I spent 500$ and i got 400Gb, he spent like the same 500$ and he got 16Gb.

  • so whats the problem xD SSD is still way faster

  • Which type of raid did you build? (There are many types.)

  • Raid 0 is the best for speed :D

  • Wait, what's wrong with that?

  • I signed in just to tell you that you're a moron. It goes by either the rotation speed of the drive, or the architecture drive. Gigabytes do not measure speed when it comes to storage.

  • there are more read-write heads on a bigger disk, that's why a bigger disk is faster, you are an idiot

  • You're a moron.

  • CLiDED, some people won't learn all too easily.

  • idiot

  • its a soilid state hardrive no need to spin up fucking retard

  • it's an mtron drive u idiot. I have one in my new macbook and it boots in under 17 seconds. shut down is like 4 seconds or something. So, if u r going to call something a fake, know your stuff first.
