i have a moose rack from my first moose back 12 years or so ago...I've never mounted them...they are in my garage....I've had a mouse nibble at a few of the ends and I need to know how to protect the antlers...do you coat the antlers in something or just leave them bare? I know that if I mounted them and they were in the house, they would be protected lol, but I want to make sure I do it the right way. thanks!
interesting technique! i would not have thought of that. right now i have just been working on the smaller scale with skulls and let them bleach out naturally in the sun (as i have all the time in the world right now without a customer base,lol) if things get rolling with my business i will have to try this out!

@ilsdmspjs you might try putting some moth balls in the general vicinity, or some cotton balls with peppermint oil around the antlers.
Not sure, but if they want them bad enough, they will probably find a way to nibble them....
sticky traps work good too!
