I remember this last one very well,it was during the big heat wave that hit the East coast in May of 1984.I remember it was thundering and lightning when I was watching it I was worried we were going to lose power and I was going to miss it lol. It's ashame they didn't have Ralph,Potsie and Chuck on it but due to budget limitations they had to be written out.
I wish that Ralph and Potsie had been written into the final episode, so all three of the main characters of Richie, Ralph, and Potsie could be together one more time.
What an heart felt ending, but i agree, i think it's absolutely abominable that Potsie and Ralph were not there. That was the only thing short of a perfect ending.
Also, i've noticed, Richie's son would be like 4 in this episode and Fonzie's son is like 8 so those little boys would be like the new mini Rich and Fonze.
I was wondering that myself. Where was Anson Williams? Anson Williams was one of only two people who starred in every single season of Happy Days AND appeared in the Love American Style pilot episode. Marion Ross was the other. So, why was Anson Williams on the final episode?
I agree with many others that I am really surprised that Potzie, Ralph, and Richie, Jr. are not on this episode. Plus, wasn't Richie and Lori Beth set to have another baby?
Why can't today's sitcoms be like this? This show was special, especially this final episode. I nearly cried three times at as many points: When Fonz finally got the adoption through, Joanie and Chachi's wedding and Mr. C's final toast "to Happy Days." I miss that show immensely as a kid. Thank God for the Hub on cable.
@EKB316 i agree with you im only 17 but i loved watching this show on tv land when i was a kid but i don't get the hub so i can't watch any of these types of shows anymore well except leave it to beaver i still watch that on tv land
This was a great episode to end what was the greatest show on television, its too bad Anson Williams(Postie), Don Most(Ralph), the kid who played Richie Jr, and Richie's second child wasnt seen in this episode, and Chuck Cunningham was written off the whole series, and at the end of the show and song, "These Happy Days are your and mine, These Happy Days are yours and mine: Happy Days!" The final season intro and the ending song was changed and sung by someone else was great. Dont Hate it.
This was it, since october i have watched every episode on the hub, the last one they showed was tonight, and this right here raps it all up. Test me now on anything happy days
Where was Anson Williams in this episode? Too bad Ralph (Donny Most) wasn't here either. I just now noticed Anson Williams was not in this episode. That's too bad...
I remember watching Happy Days re-runs in the 90's when I was growing up. I love watching it on tv and on YouTube again. It makes me want to cry watching the last episode over again!
All I know is, if I had one wish and it could be anything in the world, Happy Days wouldn't have ended in 1984, it would've continued to at least say where everyone's lives led.
Or I'd wish that Scott Baio had a son that looked exactly like he did when he was younger and even kinda acted like Chachi. That'd be perfect. Haha.
If I was ever to get lucky enough to meet any of them all I would probably be able to say is "OH MY GOD I FREAKIN' LOVED YOU IN HAPPY DAYS!!" Hahaha.
I watched re-runs when I was little, and I LOVED this show. I cried when I found out Tom Bosley died. This will ALWAYS be my favorite show. It always makes me sad when I think about all the information I'll never know. Like if Joanie and Chachi had kids and where they lived after the wedding, or what happened with Fonzie and Danny, or Marion and Howard. It just seems like there could've been more to their stories and the end of Happy Days could've had a better, more informing ending to it.
@sailorgirl424 I think Chuck was just written out of the series so Fonzie could be the "big brother" of sorts to Richie. They went on after that just saying the Cunninghams only had two children so I guess it's as if he never existed.
Funny how people today laud the Finales of Seinfeld and Sopranos as artistic achievement and originality. I bet they would laugh at this finale and call it cheesy. But, for my money, there was never a more appropriate or better Finale than this one. It was the proper ending for all characters and the show. And Mr. C's toast brought tears to my eyes then.
"Marion and I have not written the great American novel..." TV Guide named this as the best farewell ep of any sitcom at that time. There's something about Tom Bosley breaking that 4th wall after choking up a bit, and looking into our eyes and saying, "So, thank you for being part of *our* family." Priceless, yes. Love this show.
It is because of him that the phrase "Chuck Cunningham Syndrome" was coined! It has been said that he and Edward Kinisky (from "Gimme a Break!") were living together in Tiger Brady's doghouse! A very amsusing idea indeed!
Tom Bosley breaking charchter and toasting the show was priceless- and of course the clips with Elvis singing "Memories" made it even more priceless. Tom Bosley was a great actor and Mr. C was up there with other classic TV dads like Mr. Brady, Andy Griffith (Ron Howard's other TV dad), Ward Cleaver and others.
so agree with 'classicphile'... later, they got permission from the Elvis Estate to use his '68 version in the end montage. That final fade to black in '84, and that feeling of, "That's it. No more Happy Days." 26 years later, so feeling the same thing as classicphile. Always missing this show.
I remember watching this final episode of Happy Days when it originally aired in 1984. As much as I couldnt stand it after its "jump the shark" moments, I still watched it faithfully & this final episode plus Howards toast, made up for all the "JTS" moments IMO. After this episode aired, its final one, as I watched the end credits roll, I thought, "Wow. Its really over. No more Happy Days". I KNEW right then and there that I was going to miss Happy Days. Sure enough, 26 years later, I still do.
i remember watching this as a kid and crying my eyes out!
i just watched it again after all these years, and i still cried my eyes out!!!
the shows today just dont have the heart that these old shows had! God how i miss them!
