If this parts was made in Brass it would have to be annealed at least 3 times. Brass will work harden very fast if you play with it too much. also make sure you use a lot of spinning soap to work the metal with less heat.
Do you know what grade of brass can be used for spinning? I've tried formable brass from mcmaster carr and it work hardens very quickly and I have to anneal all the time.

Yes the disk starts as 1100 grade aluminum. Soft.
