I'm not sure why safari was so slow. Here's some images of my browsers doing the test

so I will say at least my copy of safari is my fastest browser.

1) I get the same results in firefox and chrome in OSX as safari.

2) Microsoft made all of the rendering tests you showed and they tailored their own browser to do well on it. Your link even leads to Microsoft's site. Are you serious?

3) 2:41 I honestly don't know what's going on there. I just tested that readwriteweb link on my computer and it loaded just as fast as your IE performed.

Hi again ADR! Loved every minute here. Safari has behaved that way to me for over the past 2 years! My kids (they play online web games) can't stand Safari ! IE9 is clearly the winner. Chrome is second in my choice. i'm bored with Firefox but I still use it sometimes for their fast add ons. More videos please!

Yeah ie is faster prolly even faster than chrome but it sucks at web standards and css and adhering to them, especially when you start getting into html development ie9 just doesn't display things correctly when ff,chrome and opera all do so you end up having to write two lots of css one that works for all browsers except ie and one that works specifically for ie and ie alone. It makes design and development suck having to do things twice.

always love the music. As for the fish tank demo and i am no safari fan at all, FF all the way. but the fish tank uses hardware acceleration & HTML 5 has a security hole via webGL and as far as I know Safari does not use it and thus no hardware acceleration.

Actually, that's when opening a lot of flash content. That's more a testament to how poorly flash runs on OSX (It's pretty bad) than it is on the browser.

@mrbit10 The microsoft test doesn't use WebGL. It uses canvas2d. There is a WebGL version out there that was made by a third party. And you're right, Safri doesn't use WebGL

@ReadWriteAccess The Apple site shown in the video said that safari was the fastest on OSX not that safari was the fastest on windows. besides, everybody is claiming to have the fastest browser and they use different tests as proof. Often times, those tests don't have anything to do with actual browsing speed and have a lot to do with how well they handle a specific java test or graphical test or how fast they load some first party test.

You can't upload your pictures or anything from safari on an iPad! That doesn't mean that facebook uses flash for it's pictures! that means that safari won't allow you to upload pictures!

I know for a fact that facebook doesn't use flash because I have a flashblocker on my computer and just changed my picture in facebook without ANY problem. Like I said, use iCab, which is my fave browser

@sc0pl355 Well if OS X can only handle it as good as Adobe developed it, well good luck. I run Windows and two different types of Linux, and I have never has my OS crash. Here's the solution. Apple make your own type of Flash, and try to make everyone adopt it like Firewire on the HW side, and quicktime on the software side.

Your test hits the nail on Apple's head. I've tested the browsers for speeds on loading sites and the resources it took. Safari took up 20% of the CPU during somewhat average performance, Firefox took 10% and Chrome took up 15%. And the one that was slowest was Safari. Even the browser in our school's Macs won't compare to the speeds I get on any other browser. And they have the lacking ability to open new tabs, unless you right click on a site, or control click, and click to make a new tab.

lol @ the HTML5 test, ye the current version of safari is getting on a bit and should be greatly improved/updated in Lion, i think more updates to the Nitro engine etc. and HMTL5 performance boosts. IE9 is impressive, ive been tracking news on that since I heard about it ! going in a great direction ! we shall see how IE9 stacks up against the new version of safari when lion comes out, the issue is thats on a mac, safari on windows HAS ALWAYS BEEN A JOKE...oh well...
