i remember the first time i heard this song. I cried cause i remember that tune was playing when simba was trying to get mufasa to wake up. But i ove this song thanks for putting it up brings back memories
It's just so beautiful, I don't think I could properly put it into words. I want to smile and close my eyes, then I want to cry. It's haunting and melancholy, the voices are breathtaking. I always hear a song and say, 'That's my favorite,' just because it moves me at the time, but I believe this is a tune that I could hear in 5 minutes or 10 years and still be moved. Thank God there's music able to do this; that's just what it comes down to.
If you listen to the song "Shadowland" from the Lion King musical you'll hear that the music of "Shadowland" sounds like the the music from this song that's because this song became "Shadowland"
Oh my gosh, you don't know how happy I am that I found this song. I had this album on cassette when I was younger, but the tape eventually broke/wore out. I have been trying to find this album, especially this song in particular, for so long ^_^
OMG!!! i love this n the sopranos are excellent not over powering the others it's just so balanced. the voices paint a beautiful picture. feel like im in the movie watching from the sidelines.lol. awesome
i'm having trouble deciding which version i like better... the english version has more depressing lyrics i think, but i like how this one sounds better.
I completely agree. Those African chants just does something to me. They send chills up and down my spine. The thing I love about them is that you don't have to understand them to appreciate them. The harmonies are very tranquil and relaxing. I don't think the Lion King would be as great as it is if it were not for the beautiful music. I just love it.
I feel the exact same way. I think this type of music has healing qualities to it. It should be played in spas, hospitals and anywhere where someone may need to have their spirits lifted. Eventhough the melody is somewhat somber it still has an uplifting quality to it. I listen to it nearly everyday. I somehow managed to find this cd on ebay. Now I can play it where ever I go.
3:33 when that instrumental starts, possibly this best moment of the song it's so so powerful it makes me want to cry but it just continues maintaining the awesomeness throughout, this really touches ones soul =')
Yea that sounded great too. But my favorite was at around 4:15 when she says lea halalea. Her vocals along with that of the choir is so moving. And as the music rises again it gets even more powerful. I just cant say enough about the Lion King and this music. I love everything about them both. Disney is going to have to work pretty darn hard to top the Lion King as far as Im concerned. They may make a movie that makes more money than the Lion King, but they will never make another one like this.
Thank you! You know what I love most about this music is the fact that you don't have to understand the language to appreciate the music. This music and this song in particular would be a great way to unwind and relax yourself after a long hard day. I mean can you just visualize yourself sitting back in your recliner listening to this wonderful song? Whenever I hear it I see beautiful scenes of nature, beautiful fall foliage, the song just takes me places in my mind I never knew existed.
1:27 Simba observing the stars ..... One of the most emotional scenes ever in that film!

I love the 1:27 part. It's the part that's played in sad scenes, like Mufasa's death. D; It makes Lion King more sad than all of the other movies.
