  • great video thanks

  • I think this was filmed using scenery from the west coast of the South island of New Zealand-Punakaki rocks ( spelling may be wrong)

  • Time for a new series of dinosaurs. It's 10 years since the first batch were produced. More dinos, more episodes, longer episodes, better CGI, better stories, in glorious HD and more evolution sequences! Brilliant!

  • @TranshumanCyborg Technicly, they're still reptiles. You wouldn't say ceteceans aren't mammals becasue they live in the water, non?

  • My inner child has been reawakened *starts squawking and flapping arms*

  • lol the sound the do its funny

  • @TranshumanCyborg They're officially flying reptiles.

  • hummmmmmmmm just bullshit ...

  • omg who record this?

  • The description is "A closer look at the dinosaurs that evolved to dominate the skies. From BBC," and yet not a single bird to be seen.

    (Pterosaurs are NOT dinosaurs! -_-)

  • @Velox415 All documentaries like to make things sound simple.

People still refer to pterosaurs as pterodactyls... which are a species of pterosaur in their own right.

  • Remove the skin stretching from the arms to the legs and you have a new monster for Silent Hill.

  • @gaara2910 Look out Murphy. D=

  • Snookie can fly?

  • Yeah, great journey and everything, i know archeologist found some remains and animal/plant fossils existed in Europe and Asia in America(!!!), but we should all remember that Eurasia was once a part of unique continent. I'm not sure about time. So that journey may not be soo amazing...

  • Comment removed

  • Woot i live in Europe :D

  • I'd way prefer these over seaguls any day

  • @LuckArse415 A shitdrop of one of these could easily sink a ferryboat!!! Wut r u talking about?! ;D

  • i begin to wonder if historians beileve in god creating this world...

  • @JEREX101

Some do. Not all scientists are atheists, contrary to what guys like Dawkins seem to imply. I personally know several paleontologists who are religious but also accept evolution over millions of years as a rock-solid reality. Merely believing that God created this world does not require one to believe that it's 6000 years old or that dinosaurs lived with humans.

  • 127,000,000 bc..lol

  • I wish I could time travel back then

  • was that toruk macto???

  • Some of them are hand puppets.

  • when I was 8 a was crying for that he couldn´t found a mate LoL (I´m sorry for my English)

  • thank you chirostenotes i forgot if it had a p or not.

  • that things fucking ugly!

  • @TheMadcowwww Only because you want it to be.

  • question: is this fuckin transatlantic thing TRUE? how do we know this?

  • @rashedly Yes, scientists can determine that continents and sea levels were what they were by taking samples of rock from the seafloor of the deep ocean. Continents are moving today, and we can (mostly) tell where they were from where they're going. Also, fossils of plants and animals of the same species (that couldn't have traversed oceans) found on different continents, can provide proof that two continents were joined at one time (or at least close to eachother).

  • @Chirostenotes yes, that is clearly so :) it's the 'i flew across the ocean' bit that gets me.

  • @rashedly Oh, well it's just speculation. But the dinosaurs, pterosaurs and marine reptiles would be bland without it

  • teresaurs are awsome i remember being scared of those blue tereasaurs.

  • @MOVIEmania709 Pterosaurs, not Tereasaurs.

  • Where does that ornitecheirus going in 3:27?

  • There was a show I watched called "Prehistoric Planet", and it used the same animation as this, but it explained it in a way a kid would understand, and Ben Stiller narrated.

  • i think these were the only flying, not jump and glide, reptiles. not even today that a flying reptile exists.

  • Flying punk rockers, heh. :D

  • the earth has only been around for about 6,500 years

  • @Eyegateproduction

    AHahahahahah, lol. Good joke.

  • Big guy: 40 year old virgin?

  • No match for Chuck Norris!!!

  • 4me gusto poquiito4425y ,4

    w'djgerj;gtle'rtykh3jy5l;hm$W?

  • 12m!!!! Omfg...

  • I'm glad these guys are extinct or we'd have cage instead of fence for backyards. =D

  • lmao, so fiction. And yet the way they telling if it's so true and so expert on it. You invented the time machie and went baclk in time and now telling us about this??

    how about this?

OLk, ultramn defeated all the monsters and thats how u discover fossls .l. lol.

  • ugh... its like an alien world..

  • ricardo 15301 Fossils and educated guesses. Duh

  • oke ... how the fuck can they know this and ... stuff O.o

  • @ricardo15301 educated guess? o.o

  • @ricardo15301 with the bones i think

  • Quetzalcoatlus :) this is my favorite dinosaur though i cant shoose between spinasaurus or stegosaurus. i have him on my fossil fighters game but still i like it :)

  • @Cloudkit90 Spinosaurus Egypticus!!! One of my favorite dinosaurs!

  • @prophetslayerwars Totally. I would ride it. :P

  • Hey BBC, these are flying reptiles and are not dinosaurs, although they co-existed. I thought you guys would have known that seeing as you're BBC and you're supposed to informative.

  • @Lesouder2222Music the bbc are thick theiving bastards

  • @Lesouder2222Music look at the name of the video.

  • @Lesouder2222Music Well it WAS twelve years ago, maybe Kenneth Branagh just has a flash of stupidity when he was narrating this.

  • Likee This If You Hatee The ADs !

  • That is definately 'filmed' in NZ, Pancake Rocks, West coast, South Island.

  • @RoseRegenvanu

    No, India.

  • I love dinosaurs

  • Wonderfull.

  • @prophetslayerwars

No, unfortunately, there are none left. Fortunately, they left descendents--birds. The largest of flying birds is the Bald Eagle with a wing span of up to 7 feet--bigger than the average pterosaur.

  • @N00bcrunch3r no the largest of flying birds is the Albatross, with a wingspan of 13 feet or more.

  • @KateFan Also thats no match for Quetzalcoatlus, which had a winspan of 40 feet. Thats bigger than a light aircraft.

  • @KateFan

That would be because 2 month ago I didn't know much about birds. There was a bird during the Miocene Epoch that had a wingspan of about 24 feet. As for Albatrosses, there maximum wingspan is 12 feet.

  • Note to self: dont fuck with nature.

  • The terrorsaurs were not dinosaurs and did not evolve from dinosaurs.

  • they almost look like the things from avatar

  • of course the big guy mated how do you think pelicans exisit

  • you know this is 100% bull shit? there was only 19 dinosaurs the bones that people find are NOT real it's bull shit they are times of art that they were made so called cave men were never real only indians found rocks and imagination it was a coincedence for them to look alike

  • @TheJackson4eva hahahahaha... a beliver? so ignorant...

  • @jackkorova it is bullshit there were something called natives.... the found supremely shaped rocks and made bones out of their imagination...

  • @TheJackson4eva And how do you lnow this?

  • @jackkorova Polish scientists found out 4 years ago...

  • @TheJackson4eva so you decided to belive them? It really sounds like a decition.

  • omg i have the whole walking with dinosaur on VCR! time to dust it off and watch. i remember the big fella and he dies ;( ;( ;( ;( ;( ;(I

  • now i know where AVATAR got their insparation from...lol

  • @CommanderCody88

We know pterasaurs evolved along side dinosaurs in the triassic period. And we know why they evolved as well. The mass extinction at the end of the permian period left many niches for the surviving reptiles to fill.

  • when i saw this first at 8 i was really sad...these docs by bbc were really well made, the best for dinosaurs!

  • Dinosaur Drawing Collection: watch?v=Uuq2Nf771G0

  • @poptropica555

Pterasaurs are not dinosaurs. They are closely related to them though.

  • All fake people. Dont let Satan confuse you.

  • @punyo4u

What are you talking about? What does Satan have to do with anything? This is science.

  • @punyo4u yes, the video is fake but the animals once lived, WTF is your point? also, there is NO SATAN, dont let brainwashing confuse you

  • @punyo4u idiotic man....

  • @punyo4u All fake people. Don't let religion confuse you.

  • @punyo4u Don't be afraid little scared one. I will tell him not to confuse anyone.. he have a twisted kind of humor.. never mind :DDDD

  • This is my favorite episode of the series.

  • The giant of the Skies is considering one saddest episode by one great king of the skies in the end he fall, lay down and die. It is so sad I almost cry.

  • love the sound at 0:20-0:30 it reminds me of when i was a little boy watching these series :p

  • @xerke

ya, i used to get fuckin scared when i saw this one, i have most on tape and all of em on dvd, n«but i nearly dont watch it anymore, i still know alot about pre history and especially dinosaurs

  • looks like a hippogriff

  • You did NOT just call pterosaurs dinosaurs in the description . . . . >.<

  • 0:27 wow this guy is UGLY

  • Its so hard to believe that creatures like dinosaurs once shared our earth.

  • @ImBarelyHangingOn So true! And they ruled for millions and millions of years. It would be so neat to go back in time and see what the earth was like. It would be so different from what know now. Similarly, some creature hundreds of millions of years from now might be wondering what it was like on earth today when humans ruled!

  • BORING

  • this programme reminds me of my childhood.

I'm surprised how much I can recite..

  • OMFG totally Avatar on Earth

  • The description is incorrect; pterosaurs are not dinosaurs. They are close dinosaur cousins, however.

  • @fullmetalchymist I don't think they are at all.

  • i thought quetzalcoatlus was the largest pterosaurs .

  • @YunaLolitaX yh sme

  • i feel so sorry for the big guy cant find a mate and all.

  • @MrCeleeebrity and i feel srry for the ones that belive in this shit

  • @SuperSa100 Yes because all of the dinosaur bones found are just a hoax? I can't wait for you to present us with your proof.

  • @SuperSa100

you should believe there existed dinosaurs and other animals like this, they may not have been like in here, we dont even know how they exactly look like, but they existed

  • @SuperSa100

What you don't believe in extinct species?

  • @SuperSa100 so in what do you believe?..this is similar to what probably used to happen to these creature... if you're telling about bible, in that case you have to interpretate

  • @Sarva07 no one knows what happen if there was only cave mans in this age and they didn't know how to comunicate very well how people today knows what happens?? Dinossaurs they invented this shit just to Make litle kid's smile in cartoons thats what i bilieve

  • @SuperSa100 There were no men at all in the age shown here... This was millions of years before any man set foot on earth...

  • @MrCeleeebrity ye :( its sad to see there all extinct it just makes me feel shit.

  • @MrCeleeebrity He's not looking for a mate... He has to fly to his own breeding grounds first, which is what the narrator was on about at the end. The last great flight he will ever make.

  • @MrCeleeebrity ...That's rough, buddy.

  • The Terrasaurs sound like mutilated kittiwakes.

  • it reminds me of the AVATAR,, ^^

  • @1989benz

    yes.

  • @1989benz

LOL I was seriously about to put that and i see your comment. Damn

  • @1989benz If you were smart in science the birds in avatar should of reminded you of this, not the other way around.

  • 0:46 - 1:07 EPIC!!!

  • i know right? ornithochierus' entrance was amazing

  • Sorry to hear that. He did excellent work.

  • cinematographers also made unorthadox action sequences to show the dinosaurs. it is all in the interest of educating the viewer and nice to watch.

  • @RocketFuelTV: By comparison to bird and lizard behavior today.

  • Shut up

  • "A large crest is also a lure to females."

  • Must we believe that those creatures sound like that??...

  • No! Not if you want to. But then how do you think these things sounded?

  • I don't know for sure, but did those creatures have larynx? without having one, i am not sure they were able to ...

if they sounded i believe they just made sounds like crocs..

  • Maybe but I don't really know much anymore. Used to be well into Dinosaurs when I was kid but not so much anymore!

But then if they didn't make any noise then it wouldn't have been such a good programme.

  • They look like bats, not seagulls

They should make a video game off this or something

Kinda like Spore, but more realistic and more in depth

  • It is a ancient sea gull. Compare to the modern Sea Gulls. What is your modern animal bloodline?

  • i bet u think tapajara is bizzare

  • lol 2:21 they made them sound like a cat getting fucked good or somethiing

  • Sadly you'r favourite dinosaur isn't even a dinosaur, but a pterosaur :(

  • wow those days T_T

  • Who's that pokemon?

    It's Fearow!!

  • Don't be dumb!... its Aerodactyl! xDDDDDDDDDD

  • Quick, throw an ultra ball!

  • *throus ultraball* I've just cought a Aeordactyl! XD

  • aerodactyl used screech.....

    special defense fell

    wtf?

  • I think, the truth is nobody really knows what they're habbits for life would be - other than to make references to the abundnce of birds that live today. Though looking at most of these creatures - they would have spent most of they're time in the air - perhaps even mated on the wing - leaving only the females to brood the batch. I come to that conclusion because of their size, why waste ebergy landing and taking off when you can fly using thermals. I think females would have been smaller.

  • @paullnewlands - I keep wondering - why fly endlessly, negotiate thermals and waste energy if not for food & brood? Unless there is/was such thing as aeroplancton etc., by extrapolation from the respective modern cetaceans at sea. Vultures still land to feed. Any birds hunting and feeding in midair?

  • I think swifts do. Something like they only land every 2 years or something to breed.. I forget...

  • they look cool...

  • What's your IQ?

  • Mine's Intelligence Quotient - what's yours?

  • Turn your speakers up!

  • too bad quetzalcoatlus didnt evolve till near the extintion of the dinos cuz he could top him :D

  • Technically Pterosaurs are not Dinosaurs as the title would suggest.

  • Yeah, Pity how the YT channel got dinosaurs and other archosaurs mixed up.

  • cool

  • I really love these things but I always find it hard to believe that they know for sure about some of the "facts" they give us.

  • they don't no that all of what they say is true they are making an educated guess

  • pterosaur refers to multiple species, as pterodactyl is a specific species.

  • Is there a difference between a pterosaur and a pterodactyl?

  • Anyone else think its body looks extremely similar to that of a man's?

  • I was thinking that two. Probably some English chap that wants to learn to fly said make one that looks like me so I can say I'm related and that will put me in the circle of whatever lieing circle that would be. But yah that looked kind of funny. I was waiting for some explanation of...and these are where humans came from sort of statement.

  • man this one is like from 2003 xD

  • 1999

  • oh well i remember i only remember seeing it in 2003

  • i knew it! i knew it! either that or it was 2003

    i live in the US

  • Was this series on Discovery Channel?

  • no you get them in the sun(newspaper)

  • Im sure this was on discovery channel some years ago, but i dont live in the UK so i dont know about that...

  • It was aired on the BBC

  • Saw it on Discovery 6-7 years ago

  • Ok thanks, just something i wanted to know

  • Well, I thought the Ornitocheirus was indeed the Quetzalcoatlus...

  • Awesome video.

  • quetzalcoatlus was bigger than ornithocheirus but ornitocheirus had a bigger wingspan

  • Cool video!

  • Pterosaurs are not classified as dinosaurs. In a way, it is funny, as I´ve understood the Tyrannosaurus was closer related to Pt
