  • Totally Devoted Seeds Fan... The Track Is Amazing And Best Bit Is When It Gets To 1 Minute And 40 Seconds Into The Track for About 25 Seconds :D

  • great tune!

  • favourite pop song for me, ever :D

  • POP PERFECTION. PERFECTIONNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

  • imo, i think this is their best song, period

  • Quite possibly the catchiest song EVER recorded. XD

  • to bad this song didn't do well commercially but I think it's a great song.

  • im not impressed. ministry work for love is better

  • 1:23 epic change....

only 2 b followed by an epic er change @ 2:05...

  • gooood good good

  • Ian Broudie is kind of a genius...

  • Hey sorry for advertising but I just uploaded a little cover of "Perfect" by the lightning seeds, so please have a quick listen if you’re interested would be much appreciated!! :) xx

  • Purely infectious.

  • These guys and this song is awesome. Great memories!!!!

  • Lightning Seeds HFeStival 1990 washington dc 1990 AWESOME

  • Music from this era was so crisp and refreshing.

  • que buena musica de lo mejor buena epoca

  • This song sounds a lot like The Stones...Get Off Of My Cloud...uncanny

  • MARAVILLOSA!!

DE LO MEJOR DE LA HISTORIA DE LA MUSICA

  • such a warm voice

  • I love this song. I was just watching Daria and I heard it in the background LOL.

  • the LP version sounded better, this one is good too, but i prefer the LP version, when will somebody post the LP version or I might have to do it

  • @jupiterscastle

    Go ahead, post it!

  • @jupiterscastle

That would be awesome!! I remember being at the local record shop the day that "Cloudcuckooland" came out. I was in high school back then. Awesome sound from an awesome album.

  • @jupiterscastle

That would be awesome!! I remember being at the local record shop the day that "Cloudcuckooland" came out. I was in high school back then. Awesome song from an awesome album.

  • @jupiterscastle there was an alternate mix of this version wasnt their? i have this version on a cassette and the no harmony vocals during the break

or am i too baked to determine that fact lol

  • @jupiterscastle i'll do it, just bought the record

  • @jupiterscastle Please post the LP version!

  • @jupiterscastle can you please post it, i can't find it either - and yes it's much better!

  • @jupiterscastle This is clearly a single edit - drums punched to the foreground - agreed that the LP is a bit richer.

  • real......pure......music.

  • @gatoron2595 - Pure and simple everytime!

  • Tune!!!

  • Just realised how much"Words" by Doves sound like this.

  • Always liked this song, but first time seeing the video!! a brit-pop classic from the early 90's.. reminds me summers in Los Angeles listening to KROQ!!! love it!!

  • I love this song but hate the fact that it is not the original version of the song that was on the CD when it first came out. For some reason they went back and changed the song around and then from that point on this is the version of the song that is played. So sad

  • is there a better opening song on an album?

  • @djkenny

"Rock n Roll Star", on Definitely Maybe? Fair point though, Cloudcuckooland is a forgotten classic

  • Am I the only one who thinks the first sentence sounds a bit like that of "all I wanna do" by sheryl crow? (this one is earlier, for sure)

  • i´m from argentina the best pop music is from UK

  • A Good song. Doesn't the lead singer look a little like a younger Andy Dick (the actor/comedian)?

  • This version is not from the Cloudcuckooland album I've wore my record out and bought the cd and know it by heart. Would like to know were it came from like this version also.

  • When was this? How do I know every word to this and forget everything else?

  • great song, what happened to em, they were great

  • this is different to the one on the greatest hits

  • ah the memories of no worries & innosence.

  • A really catchy, feel good song, love it

  • i wish i born in 80s

  • @budamas23 meee too

  • Amazing

  • This was my FAVORITE album senior year in high school. I wore it out playing it. Besides Pure, this was my other total favorite track. Really smooth, great way to introduce Electronica to the masses back in the early 90's. farmboy777, I think that Susanna Hoffs cover of this was a travesty. She was just never good after the Bangles broke up -- boo hoo! That's all I'm going to say.

  • @tillyboos i agree she sucked on the cover of this.........She might have been cute but thats bout it.:)

  • This isn't the video I have on VHS- does anyone have the animation one?

  • Ahhh Happy song, close my eyes and remember good times...tks for posting...

  • Might all be innocently done but the verse sounds like its been lifted straight off Transvision vamps "baby I don't care" which like this song, it too must have fallen out the back of a horse......I therefore conclude this to being the same horse!

  • Winter 1990 in Perú. Great song!

  • @traileroperu Yes 1990 , soy de Peru tambien,,bacan esa cancion

  • another beautiful song...

  • Wow! I'm 13 again! Thanks...

  • The doves - words is just coincidently similar

  • The main riff was first done by The

    Stranglers.(Check out 'Normal Normal' on

    Dreamtime reissue)

  • Comment removed

  • Who made the original?

  • like the Susanna Hoffs version as well.

  • I like Susanna Hoffs version better, She sings it with the sweetest voice.

  • Beautifull Song!

  • Great, great song

  • i love the piano part at 1:33'ish.. makes me happy!!

  • original rocks! the doves-words is a rip off!!!!

  • like suzanna hoff

  • This song is different from the CD version I have. Never knew lightning seeds were on you tube. Thanks.

  • wtf is the "AII I WANT-I WANT IS YOU"???

    never heard that before....

  • Wow, great 80s find here. I'll be checking them out some more!

  • The best song the Pet Shop Boys never had!

  • and the last band made this song?

  • flot mitsiko oot oot oot!

  • Was to original version of this video animated? I seem to remember animation back when I watched this on 120 minutes.

  • Ha ha! Susanna Hoffs REMADE this song from The Lightning Seeds. This song was popular from the Seeds in approximately 1991. Awesome CD! Many more great songs...Cloudcukooland. Peace.

  • did they do this befor susanna hoffs or whats the story?

  • Not many songs better than this AND it sounds even better on the cd. A little different actually, BETTER!!

  • The only rubbish song the lightning seeds ever made was that 3 lions shit..... the rest of thier song were pur magic.

  • you mean the 3 lion stuff that was their biggest hit?

  • Because every football yob in England bought it(there's only one thing worse than football and that's a football bore, saying that I'm a geordie,I used to dig football once upon a millenia ago.Now if I went home and declared that I'd be thrown on a fire as a heretic).I have to agree with skegsthomson, apart from three lions all their music(this track particularly)was first rate.Ian Broudie, clever and talented guy.

  • Brutal!

  • oh my god yeah the doves did!

  • Doves stole this riff.

  • nah

  • for wot song?

  • Words

  • my thoughts exactly

  • Happened that it was a new decade just coming (1990) and everything still reminding me the 80s just pissed me out, but actually it wasn't to blame those kids either, this song is fantastic because there's a slight but proud elegance in its own simplicity.

  • It costed me first to really understand this song there in 1990 (the original version, without that ugly break with that flanger voice) but the same happened to me several times with other songs from different bands. Now I agree All I Want is an all-time Modern rock classic.

  • Where can I get this different version from the Album version? It sounds slightly sped up

  • This was first song on cloud cukoo land, album version much better

  • Susanna Hoffs (of the Bangles) later covered this song in a slightly more stripped-down manner. Good in its own way

  • Flashback Central! This is super!

  • i've transported back to freshman year of high school, good times :)

  • this was revive by sussana hoffs

  • Crazy that this sound wasn't bigger in the States. I remember "Pure" and "Life of Riley" getting some play. But still, vastly overlooked over here.

  • *****

  • Yes, I own CuckooLand and was very alive when B-Club came out. I was trying to describe how this song (and others) makes me think and feel. For some reason, I can always imagine characters in the Breakfast Club listening to this. Brodie's a pop genius.

  • january 1989 great english single

  • great fooking band , the most under rated in my book , just that fooking english choon they carried oot . shame

pick u up and take u hame again

  • your book must have like 3 pages.

  • 3 pages

    war and peace bud

  • Great! Fookin great!

  • i always preferred the single version to the album version just for that little middle-eight chant before the bridge.

  • Woot. I hadn't noticed that chanty bit before now. I must have only heard the album version.

  • the drummer is fit

  • I had only heard Susanna Hoffs version of this song until now, but I like this one a lot, too. It's a bit more uptempo.

  • Just more of the awesome talent of the 80's. What happened to music these days?

  • This song didn't come out in the 80s.

  • I think it was released as a single in 1989, so it did come out in the 80's, though maybe it peaked in popularity in 1990, perhaps.

  • haven't heard this in a while. thanks for posting!

  • Este tipo un genio de la melodía y las armonías. una versión estupenda que es tan buena como la clásica. Y el video es excelente.Con esta banda y esta canción descubrí el indie pop.una revelación!!!

  • thank you so much for this! :)

  • Awesome song, thanks for posting.

  • Different from the version I am used to.

    Thanks for posting!!!!

  • Another Classic! I'm a Yank but the Brit's do rule since the 60's!

  • @phree2b greenday?

  • @phree2b so so true...... they have a great sound....

  • LOVE IT!

  • Good Pop is good Pop: timeless, heartwarming and sweet.

  • We need more Britpop like this today. Ian's voice is so fragile & sweet.

  • mate you should check out the delays, not a million miles away from the seeds, great pop tunes and the singer has an amazing voice. Just search delaysworld on youtube and listen to some of their songs.

  • Awesome Awesome Awesome........................

  • Pop... pure and simple pop. So many of Lightning Seeds' tunes stay in my head for days after hearing them. Life of Riley, Pure, Three Lions, All I Want... these guys are absolute masters of the "hook" needed for a catchy pop song. Add to the tune a quirky lyric, and you have it. Hit after hit. Never get tired of their songs, and never leave them without a smile on my face.

  • The perfect pop song!

    English pop totally rules!

  • tru dat

  • ive been longing to hear this song for years...whew!!

  • my mistake its Cloud Cuckoo Land

  • album version is better. CLOUDCOOKOOLAND

  • Wow I have the 12 inch single, remix and another track.I love this song.Brings back so many beautiful memories.

  • This Band fu????? my mind

  • Bloody Amazing! Classic song..good lyrics!

  • Fecking Awesome ...brilliant songwriter ..

  • "Breakfast Club" music. Pure 80's pop genius.

  • this was my favorite song when i was 5. :p

  • Really forgotten what a tunesnith Ian is - Agree about this and Pure - Tell u what if Pure was re-released with a bit more rock and guitar it would fkin massive

  • This one and "Pure" are two of my all-time favorite songs. It's the first time I listen to this version, and it is just as awesome.

  • havnt heard this in years, thanx for posting xxxxxxxxxxxxx great song, great band

  • terrific song

  • Class. Thanks for posting so much. I love this song to bits.

  • I love this song - can't decide whether this version or the album one is my favourite though.

  • thank you for video!

  • sounds nothing like get off of my cloud lol

  • Hey cnomad, the album was cloudcuckooland.

  • yeah, you're right - correction made. Thanks!

  • it's not LATE 80's!!! get over the 80s! this was released in 1990! it's a 90's song!

  • The album was released in 1990, but the single was released in 1989.

  • good song and good video!....yes they were underestimated!

  • The version on their MySpace page is not the album version? It didn't sound very different.

    myspace-dot-com/lightningseeds

    Replace -dot- with .

YouTube doesn't allow URLs in the comments.

  • The album version is so much better. This is crap!

  • When I heard this song for the first time nearly 17 years ago, I thought these British blokes stole from the Rolling Stones "Get Off Of My Cloud." Great song none the less!

  • irishpogi you are correct. They most certainly did lift part of this from "Get Off Of My Cloud". Parts of this song also sound like their own song "Pure".

  • It's amazing that a few years later, Mick and Keith sue the group The Verve when they put out "Bittersweet Symphony." Why didn't Jagger and Richards get all bent out of shape when this ditty hit the airwaves??!!

  • No, this song does not the least resemble Get off of my Cloud. What planet are you writing from?

  • Learn how to read. I didn't say the whole song sounded like Get Off Of My Cloud. I said "PART" of the song. Let me be more specific, so maybe you'll understand "ENGLISH". From 00:19 to 00:34, and from 00:51 to 01:06, anyone that has listened to "Get Off Of My Cloud", can recognize the guitar part. I'm from planet Earth. You must be from "Ur-ANUS".

  • I was thinking the same thing. If you're going to lift a rift, they sure picked a good one.

  • Seen this vid for the first time, sounds completely different compaired with the album-version, but also nice.

  • A Fabulous Classic ~ What More Can Be Said?!

  • This is the rerecorded version from 1990. Does anybody have the original 1989 version of the video? I've never seen it.

  • Not sure about this radio edit, but the album version was cool.

  • One of the best songs from the late 80's, How great are the Lightning Seeds, very underestimated.
