  • Oh my absolutely subbing to this channel--how rare! Videos that inform as opposed to egoistic expressions! What a novel concept! When all that makes our reality as it is or as it is known, what else is there but to explore all that is in it? Archeology might well be the last science after all other sciences---to seek out and travel where few would ever even imagine...

  • Subscribed. Not only is real archeology awesome, but it's cool to find someone who can comprehensively lay the smackdown on some popular pseudoscientific gibberings.

  • @yerk3 Why thank you!

  • I wish I'd found your channel before now.

  • Nice idea for a series but archaeology is not a science, it uses science, true, but it is not a science itself and doesn't use the scientific method.

  • ArchyFantasies, have you read the book "Christ in Egypt: The Horus-Jesus Connection" or no ???

  • Comment removed

  • Why is this video "a response to Christ in Egypt: The Horus-Jesus Connection" ???

  • I like the video and am looking forward to the rest of the series. For the record, I never thought Indiana Jones was an authentic portrayal of archeology.

  • Are you dating Anubis? I think he mentioned having a girlfriend who was into Archaeology. Plus, I noticed that another person, who left a comment here, said that they found you through his channel.

  • Good use of deductive reasoning! You get a gold star!

  • 1 - Yes! I get a gold star.

2 - No! Another brainy girl who is already taken. : - (

3 - You and Anubis seem like great people. You make a good couple. :- )

  • lol! Thanks, and thanks for the sub!

  • science! biiitchesss

  • I've been waiting for you my entire life.

  • Awe, thanks, I'm sure you're pretty spiffy too!

  • I know your type, dismissing the solid proof with your claims that we made some error like we're stupid or something. Last week I dug up an artifact, took it to my lab and when I examined it I found perfectly preserved fingerprints that were, get this, identical to mine! Obviously, this means that some time in the future I will travel back in time and ecxplore that time period for myself. But I suppose YOU'D just crush my hopes and dreams and say I that I should've wrong gloves. Meanie!

    :-P

  • lol, um...the fact that you have a lab impresses me...

  • What? The lid of Pacal's sarcophagus doesn't actually show an ancient Mayan king in a spaceship? Von Daniken lied to us? Boo-hoo-hoo!

I look forward to your future videos on real archeology. And thanks to Anubis for shouting you out!

  • Yah, Anubis is a sexy beast, and big thanks to him!

  • Nice video : )

You certainly break the stereotypical archeologist. You know, the guys on Time Team wearing sweaters their mother made for them XD

    Archaeology is cool : )

  • lol, thanks!

We can be an earthy bunch...but most of us look normal and wear store bought clothing.

  • A nice video, and please go on to make more dealing with themes within your discipline.

And don't be too hasty in ruling out explosions and really big rocks.

  • I always am wary for them...

  • Well Done! And Sub'd. Awaiting the next :)

  • thanks!

  • When the harder side of science meets history, you get archeology? This is a niche in youtube I haven't seen filled, a lot of fake history does exist, though its not as often believed without question as other pseudoscience. You don't have to accept those hypothesis, we can just infer they are likely true from our observations. Isnt there a lot of chemistry in archeology?

While we haven't figured it out yet - we can reject some things as absurd, even testable ones, if they're too complex.

  • Well, yes. We do pride ourselves on being scientists, so I guess we're the harder end of the soft sciences...like frozen taffy...

There is a good deal of chemistry in the field. We're using it lot more now since we've discovered trace residues.

I'm not sure what you mean by rejecting complex hypotheses? Can you explain more?

  • I'll sub if you promise to debunk Erich von Däniken :)

  • Deal.

  • Subbed.

  • Ah, archeology and (hopefully) history themed channel. Now this is my kind of channel.

One question, will you anytime in the future make any videos on military history/the archeological findings surrounding it?

Just curious, and don't worry, I already subscribed and I won't unsubscribe if you're not going to. I'm just fascinated by the subject and would consider it a nice bonus if it was touched upon ^^

  • Well, I can't make any promises on this one, but If I find any that is pseudo-archaeology I will totally debunk it!

  • Then I'm off to search for military pseudo-archaeology! Will let you know if I find any! ;)

  • awesome!

  • Of course they're not space aliens, they're transdimensional aliens from another universe next door to ours.

  • Oooo My bad...

  • But nothing is as fun as travelling at break-neck speed in an open-top landrover being chased by exploding boulders and hitting russians and nazis on the head with a stick!

  • Wait... Back up.. Just back the hell up!

Indiana Jones isn't real? B-b-but the ark! The hearts being pulled from chests! The holy grail? For the love of the gods give me the Holy Grail!

    MY EMPIRE IS CRUMBLING!

  • Few thoughts, Drekki.

The text at the end with Cthulhu should probably not be blue so you can see it on the black.

Second, I don't think we really need an English accent for that little bit there at 1:34 to 2:56

Other than that, I look forward to seeing more. I always enjoy stuff like this.

I think ultimately why everyone like Indy is cause it's an action movie, not a movie about facts.

  • You nailed every point. good video, though!

    And please lay off Indy.

"Nothing shocks me. I'm a scientist."

I also like "Back off, man. I'm a scientist." Different movie, though.

  • I've never watched an Indiana Jones movie, so all I know is the stuff you see in previews. I was more implying, the reason they like Indiana Jones is because it's an action movie. If you think about it. If Indy was more like Doctor Grant from Jurassic Park III you wouldn't have that many people chomping at the bit to see him excavating bones. Humans have short attention spans, they like action flicks that's all I'm sayin. No bashing on Indy here. :P

But yes... Vankmen's line is priceless.

  • Yeah, I got you. I still feel like reinforcing the point because people like ArchyFantasies always rub me the wrong way when they start in on Indy. It would be like a physicist taking issue with Star Wars, you know?

Oh, and you should check out Indiana Jones sometime. Great films.

  • I don't have a problem with Indy, it just that most lay people think that He and Laura Croft are real archaeologists. I want to get away from that.

Indy is kinda like the patron saint of archaeologists anyway.

  • oh hai thar good videeo

  • @NBegovich lol, how did I miss you?
