Im an Australian & travelled to Tokyo, Japan in 2004. I was shocked to see so many homeless people were there. At night they would sleep in the train subways. I also saw many sleeping in the parks in the day time. It was so sad. The weather was so cold. One morning I saw a homeless man shivering. I gave him a can of hot coffee & he thanked me. I sometimes wonder what became of him.
@jonathan45278 I lived in Japan from 99 to 2004 but I don't remember seeing that many homeless people. Maybe I didn't go to the same places you did. I did see a guy picking food out of a garbage can once in Ginza and I gave him an onigiri from 7 eleven. I saw a few others in a park in Tokyo but not nearly as many as in NYC.
Japanese people are racist! If you're White and you're American and European, take advantage of the 'inferiority complex' you'll get from most Japanese. But when the ugly side of Japan finally shows its face, the bank loans you won't get, the rental apartments that are Japanese only, those are a small price to pay for the much harsher treatment most non Japanese Asians get in Japan, even if they pay taxes, and were born in the country and even love Japan like my friend.
Huh, I never knew Japan was having these problems (though, then again, why would I?). I always judged it by little glimpses of it's beauty and the apparent friendliness of the people.
Author William Gibson wrote a cyberpunk science-fiction novel called "Neuromancer" back in the 80's. In the story there were those little cubicles you see 5:13-5:27.
But what I found intriguing was how the protagonists in the story were basically homeless and how that is what I'm seeing today. I used to be homeless not too long ago, and I would see people standing in food lines with ipod 3G's. I go to my local library and there are plenty of homeless with laptops. Talk about technopoverty.
Nagasaki seems like one of the fortunate ones. If we had those cafe rooms in the US, we could cut down on the number of homeless in US. Internet rooms, food-I could live that way if I had to.
the incomes of the 90% japanese have declined, but the prices of lending rooms haven't, yet at all. it's been already 6 yrs since the prices of the Tokyo real estate, particularly for flats and studios have got to fall down. so, when do the lending costs get so, too? i guess most of the citizens are hoping that. citizens including who own the properties. i don't wanna see people have to survive like this any more.. like to see happier faces of the people. from Tokyo.
This situation is the fault of the japanese government following too close behind the smelly fat lard ass americans ,who fuck their friends wives and eat our pussies!
Trust me Japan is FuCKed UP and Racist Too! The men are PerVerted or Mentally Stupid and imature! ALL the women who run around at night in Roppongi are WHORES as well! Don`t be Mistaken by the Make-up and Giggles...their Pussies are Dirty and their minds are Polluted !
I can't believe this. I always thought the Japanese are far superior than us. It's sad that they have done everything right and still couldn't find a place call home.

svtcobtra,
Okay, are you saying that Bill Gate is not superior than you or me, a policeman is not superior than a pimp or mugger, America is not superior to Cuba? It's obvious that any homeless Japanese is far superior than any homeless skell we have here in America.
A lofty statement is just a lofty statement. It doesn't change the world.
I was saying, no human is more superior than another, what part of that don't you understand? Anyone can accomplish anything. I never intended to change the world with my comment either. Bill Gates may have more money than me or you, but he wasn't born a billionaire, nor was he born with all his ideas preset, he worked hard to achieve it.
Yesterday, I took a walk in a town that is in center of Tokyo. The town is only a office town, so it's not a place where there would be lot of homeless people. Still, in every park i went to, there were homeless people.
In Shibuya and Shinjuku, there is visuable amought of homeless people. On the streets, parks, train stations. Even young women.
This is mostly because of the economical situation. Many part time workers loose their jobs.
I only explained, the truth.
But, My some comments are not displayed. There are many people abusing a report spam function.
Why ?

The homeless are in all countries.
There are many beggars in U.S.A.
But, beggars are few in Japan.
Homeless person is different from the beggar.

Homeless person is different from the beggar. The beggar is very few in Japan.
The homeless people of Tokyo, one of three people owns a cell-phone.(mobile phone).
In short, Japanese many homeless people enjoy the life.
Japan has " the homeless people support system" .
The protective institution exists, too.
But many homeless people refuse it.

Even in the US, they have a shelter for poor people.
while in Japan, To lose the house is to lose the life.
Japan isn't the advanced country any more. This is just area where crazy economic animals live in.
