  • I'm curious as to why you said Starbucks but not which bookshop you went to. It doesn't really matter, just something I noticed. I think I'm going to aim to give at least one compliment to someone a day.

  • David Fincher is my favorite.

  • good luck with everything! Kick tush on exams/revision (?) and essays and such. I wish you the best.

  • during the 2009 p4a, hank asked the middle-of-the-night commenters to comment w/nicest thing anyone has ever done for us/we've done for someone. then he talked about compliments. how giving (and receiving) compliments can be so nice, but we sometimes don't do it because we worry about how it'll be received/how we'll be perceived, maybe we don't want to put ourselves out there. he talked about how his own feelings about compliments have changed over time. it's a great topic for a challenge/video.

  • You should really se the Swedish, original, version of The girl with the dragon tattoo. It's even more briliant! And a better representation of Lisbeth as the strong woman she is!

  • Good challenge! Simple compliments really do make a difference. My tfios came earlier today and I just finished..oh my god. That book. I love it. And I think it's very cool that you're acknowledged in it :).

  • Mean girls quote! ;)

  • Do you/can you publish any of your essays online? could be interesting?

  • LOve U! :)

  • oh my god your hair is so fetch

  • How did the exam go? I love this challenge :)

  • The Once and Future King!!!

  • Mean girls reference. Didn't expect that.

  • Morning Rosi! How are you today? how did he exam go?

  • quick question, does it cheapen compliments if you are going out of your way to give them?

this is phrased appalingly but if you say to yourself i am going to compliment this person on something, do you not perhaps think you are complimenting them for the sake of it, i really cannot explain this at all

oh forget it, its just my cynicism anyways, combined with my terrible spelling and scentence structure i just should not have said anything at all (but im still posting this comment)

  • good luck with your essay ;)

  • Wow, you hit the nail on the head. People do get weirded/creeped out by random people telling them something, especially compliments. It's strange that something you considered nice can actually have such a negative impact on the way people perceive you.

  • Is it just me, or does she get prettier when she's crazy?

  • Stayed home all day so I couldn't do this :/

  • All 3 of the original Swedish films are on Netflix Watch Now category. Noomi Rapace is really good.

  • Somehow I didn't end up leaving the house today. So I didn't get to compliment any strangers. Maybe I'll compliment some people in these comments.

  • I really enjoyed Girl w/the Dragon Tattoo as well. I was upset at first that they would have to remake it after such a brilliant version had already been made (really people, why can't you just read the subtitles?), but I actually found this new version to be realllyyy good. They stayed very true to the book, and I thought the actors did really well. (Seriously, three cheers for Rooney Mara. She was a great Lisbeth)

  • ack no I can't stand david fincher!

  • I wish that it was socially acceptable to tell someone in the street how beautiful they are,

  • I love to give compliments its the easiest way to make someone happy

i sometimes even look out for people that i think look sad, or people who look like they don't normaly get noticed or complemented. however i only give honest complemts. i love it.

  • I'm normally really good about complimenting strangers, I am surprised though that sometimes the friends I'm with make confused comments about why I just talked to a random person. ahhhh well, they will learn, grasshopper.

Also, I felt badly b/c today of all days I didn't see many strangers, so I didn't have an opportunity to compliment them. So now I'm on little-known youtuber's pages giving out little happy comments =). I hope that counts.

  • Have you gotten your copy of TFIOS yet?

  • Comment removed

  • @Goldlucky13 The ones I ordered won't arrive until February, but I bought one in a Waterstone's today and just finished rereading it (I started just after I uploaded this video, in fact).

  • @Goldlucky13 she's already written a review on it!

  • Regina george wore army pants and flip flops...

  • @MrJugnoris Cady did, I think.

  • @HannahCruickshank lol I knew I should of Google'd it and if you didn't reply to me I would of never found out I'm the top comment. wrong. okay but top comment.

  • @MrJugnoris Actually, Cady wore army pants and flip flops

  • @nikiisliving I know. lol I've been corrected a few times now.

  • A girl I know congratulated me for combing my hair and wearing socks the other day.

  • Love the Mean Girls reference!:)

  • I always add a "have a nice day" to people at checkouts in shops, did it today to a guy working in superdrug who had look like "fuck my life". He seemed to peek up and replied "yeah you too"... interesting how you can make someone's day less sucky with a simple sentence

  • Did you watch the original Millennium Trilogy? Those were AMAZING!

  • What did you say to the person in the book store?

  • I complimented the President of my uni on his tie. He seemed quite pleased.

  • Your videos always make me happy. :) Thank you. :)

  • I feel like I should compliment people more, I don't seem to do it enough.

  • @NatalieZenaLouise me neither.

  • I love David Fincher movies.

I've seen the first 2 movies of the Swedish adaptation and have not, yet, read the books, but I'm looking forward to see the Hollywood version.

Rosiana, do you have a PO box or an adress where we can send you stuff? (I promise it will be useful-stuff, not envelope-full-of-glitter-stuff).

  • Why thank you! So many people think a guy in a skirt is weird.

Giving compliments is something of a lost art, I think, and I'd add that it's harder for a male to give random compliments than a girl...if I complimented some girl's skirt or her boots, chances are 50/50 that I'd get smacked for my troubles. Kind of a sad state of affairs, really.

  • @glassisland You wouldn't get smacked, but chances are she'd think you were either hitting on her or gay, depending on the compliment. It is a strange culture we live in.

  • @ThatBookGirl True - I suppose I was exaggerating a tad. ;) Sometimes, I just want to give a compliment where it's needed. No ulterior motives!

  • @glassisland I had never thought of that, but that's true. Good point.

  • Yay a rosianna video just before bed. I think giving compliments is a really lovely idea. I shall try harder to compliment people other than my friends, who I compliment a lot.

  • a minute and nine seconds of rosianna in my day is better than nothing. thank you for making me smile, hope you get a good nights sleep.

  • ahhh i want to go see Girl with the Dragon Tattoo so bad, but i want to read the book first! and i have so many books already lined up to read. i'm gonna have to wait for dvd, i guess...

  • @Dleger13 Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is probably the only instance I've ever come across where I thought the movie (both of them actually, the Swedish and the Hollywood versions) were much much better than the book. I think the thing about the book is that it's such a good story, so it makes up for the fact that the writing isn't that great, but the movies can bypass that so you get all of the good with none of the bad!

  • You made me sign up, so I started today YAY :)

  • Is the title in reference to Bridge Jones's Diary? Hope you did well in your exams and things :D.

  • @Legendariums No, it's a reference to Mean Girls

  • @NobodySawThat I see. It's just there is a similar line in Bridget Jones' Diary.

  • Good luck on the assignment.

  • You're like actually awesome! :)

  • even your quick videos are lovely to watch :)

  • I love giving compliments to random people, workers cleaning up the leaves in the street for example, puts a smile on there face :)

  • @0uterHaven That's awesome that you do already do this! It's definitely a good habit to have,

  • I'm very much failing at the NYR.

  • @booksandquills Me 2
