  • A-mazing!! :D

  • Excellent version, singing and playing. Cheers from Brazil. CB

  • Beautiful !!!

  • She has a brazilian heart and a carioca soul

  • It's amazing how the vibration of this song in Portuguese, translate into English, what I could only hoped that it would say. Thank you for taking the time to make this video in English. I am delighted to know the meaning of this beautiful song. It's one of my favorites.

  • thank you!!!!!!

  • Aw this is so cute, its perfect :)

  • Really well done.

  • hello, thank you for enriching our community with your translation. this is one of the lesser known bossa nova tunes here in europe. this song is a hard nut to crack when it comes to the chords, i have tried myself to find the perfect ones and not fully succeeded yet, transcribing them based on the version sung by "os cariocas" which is in c-major... i will also check our your other videos.

  • You have done this song justice by your interpretation. Your singing is beautiful and your playing is almost impeccably In the Bossa Nova style but and the translation is what I enjoyed most. Portuguese is so passionate that at times does not translate well. This is a wonderful translation. The love shines through without the almost obsession sentiment that would with literal translation of this song's lyrics. Love the, "you were mine all along" Oh, and singing it straight through remi

  • WOW!!! Love it! Awesome translation. Really beautiful voice and adaptation! Hoping to see more translations. :)

  • I was listening to the "Elis&Tom" version and suddenly thought I'd look for the English lyrics, and came upon your song.

Wow I just loved it... delicate, wistful... and I was very pleased with your lyrics too. I see you did this years ago; I hope things are working out for you in all ways. Have you seen the terrible Jobim translations infesting the internet?!.

Anyway, thanks again, I really really adored your beautiful creations. -Larry B.

  • beautiful! awesome interpreation of the song...

  • Very good menina, so lovely ! Congrats, sincerely.

I'm not "very agree" with chords, but I think this is The beauty of Music,

above all with bossa nova, and surely, with jazz.

I'm using to play this masterpiece with original chords written by Tom Jobim,

just changing some position and bass on guitar, sorry, don't know how to explain :)

  • Great job at writing English lyrics to this song - very difficult thing to do, so well done! :)

  • You're lovely, will you marry me?

  • Will you marry me?

  • I love you

  • i'm brazilian singer and songwriter, you did an amazing job with the translation!!! :) beautiful voice too! obrigada! :)

  • Beautiful voice, end like...

  • beautiful translation! :) I love this song in Portuguese and surprisingly you just made me love it in English as well! Awesome voice, great lyrics!

  • u r soooo talented!!!

im brazillian, and ususally i would find translations stupid, but you changed my mind :)

    congratulations

  • Thank you for helping to keep these beautiful classics alive in today's polluted music industry where any spoiled brat with an attitude and a couple of flashy dance moves can get a recording deal .You have real talent and I enjoy your videos. Great song, sung wonderfully, and played equally so.

  • E português? Você canta em português também?

  • Your voice is so great! Great cpntrol with all the changes. You would still be great singing in Portugese.(sp.)

  • Vc canta música em inglês? Vc é de outros país?

  • love it

  • Beautiful girl, beautiful voice, beautiful song, beautiful translation...

And Jobim is a genious! Congratulations!

    From a Brasilian. ;)

  • i LOVE THIS GIRL.. IF IWAS NOT A GAY GUY I WOULD ASK FOR HER HAND,,

  • Thank you so much. I really wanted this. : )

  • You're really good, Thank you so much !

  • It's been two year since i watched this video. OMG I am getting old. i still like this version so much. que saudade!!!

  • hum,, pode comentar? rs no one can say pode ser mais sonoro em ingles mas acho que a melhor tradução seria, i´m the only one who knows :) ah.. mas gostei do video. bj

  • Amazingly accurate interpretation--not far away at all from the original Portuguese, while at the same time capturing the sentiment and intention perfectly well. Brava!

  • very nice.

  • When I first read "So Tinha de Ser Com Voce (English)" I thought I wasn't going to like it, but I really do! You did find the right words to translate the song from Portuguese to English! And your interpretation is amazing!

    Congrats from Brazil.

  • wow, i just left thing song playing in the background for like an hour, thinking it was in Portuguese. didn't even notice the words were english :P

  • Perfect!

  • gente incrivil como bossa nova só fica bom em portugues :/

  • absolutely wonderful.

  • You interpretation is wonderful! Thanks for posting the chords and lyrics, too!!

  • Não gostei muito não. Gosto de música inglish com legenda, senao não entendo.Bjs.

  • very nice! :)

  • JUST. AWESOME.

  • Not only are you beautiful you play and sing Bossa Nova, Perfect.

not many people know about Bossa Nova, and even if they did it's an aquired taste, a good taste,

most want to listen to what's on the Radio with pop tarts.

thanks to you i have just learned Meditation, ; )

  • sooo weird in english!

  • You have made me so happy hearing this, thank you so much.

    5 stars

  • That's absolutely awesome ! I am absolutely in love with you ...

  • Uma versao diferente mas muito linda, uma das melhores cancoes do maestro Tom Jobim.Ainda tenho muita saudade dele.

  • Nice, very nice.

  • I like it, sounds beautiful.

  • Lindo!

  • No es tan linda como en portugués...

  • simply beautifully elegant. =]

  • i can't believe that it's possible

you are fucking the most badass person on the planet omg i could almost cry

  • i think most people think that you are putting it down, but the way i read your comment is you are saying, that she did a great job and you could almost cry because it sounds so great

  • it was definitely a compliment! this video is one of the most beautiful things on the internet. understanding the song is more than a matter of translating the portuguese.

  • Maravilhosa versão, não paro de ouvir. Parabéns!

  • amazing!! i love it =)

  • That's lovely! I'd never known what the lyrics meant until now!

  • Thanx for the chart and lyrics! Good job of WORK! and that is what music is. I try to get as many of these Brasilian tunes as I can. A friend of mine has a whole book of them with the syllables broken up with the chording. But some of the Djavan stuff that is funky I can't get with the Portugese, you have to think in a language to really sing or speak them. A lot of bossas USA singers can do in portugese, Ella did some well. Kevyn Lettau also comes to mind. English lyrics are always welcome! FC

  • Wow Kevyn Lattau I haven't heard about her in 20 years.I used to go see her all the time at a club in Santa Monica Ca.

    What she up to?

  • She is a friend of mine on the Jazz Network(ning), has her own site and myspace, check her out. A cousin of mine sang some brasilian wordless vocal with her on a cd by John Patitucci titled 'Mistura Fina' a while back. I discovered her on a Jazziz(magazine) cd sampler, she is great!- FC

  • i've never heard the english lyrics before, great redition tho, well done

  • Incredible and absolutely lovely version :)

  • as they would say in Brazil...

    muito ben! Obrigado!

BTW, check out the Bossacucanova CD " um Batida..." I think you will ove it!

From one Brazilian music lover to another.

  • Great!

  • I wish Damon sings this

  • Lindo! Estou em lágrimas !!! A MPB e a Bossa são as músicas mais LINDAS do mundo !!! Emocionada !!!

  • I know its creepy, but I want to marry you! :P

btw, what do you think of Stochelo Rosenbergs version of Chega De Suadade?

  • Wow,you really do an excellent job with this song!!! I would like to hear you sing the Brazilian Portuguese version.

  • Adoro ver gringo pagando pau pra musica brasileira!

  • Boa versão em inglês, somente faltou mais entusiasmo,

Nice english version, just need more swing

    Um abraço do Brasil.

  • Foi bacana .. mas da para sentir que o ritmo não está brasileiro, mas ficou bacana sim !... o ritmo que tinha que melhorar, ser mais solto e mais pulsante e vibrante como a bossa nova e o samba são ! .. mas parabens ficou bacana

  • I love you

  • muito bom, I love you so much! ;o) :o* smack!

  • excelente !!!! muito bom!!!!

  • Great job, could you email me a copy of the English lyrics?

  • awesome!!!

do you do an english version of voce?

  • Hey! Nice job! Takes big brass ones to put it up on youtube too! Keep it up, but learn the Portuguesa and it'll sound better!

  • Very nice you want to sing with my group? (half kidding) Very nice vocals

  • Very, very Sexy :).

  • Very Nice...

I Only miss the brazilian Swing in your sing.

    Sorry about my bad english.

  • Holy crap! You put the chords up! You made my day. I am copying and pasting them as we speak.

  • Another lovely translation and charming performance. Have you ever considered doing a translation of "Manha da Carnaval"? I've never cared much for the English lyrics ("A Day in the Life of a Fool").

  • Simple pass!!!!!!!! very good!

  • Beautiful and quite charming!

  • Wow....that was nice....great translation and lovely voice..............obrigado!

  • wow I've always loved this song and never knew the lyrics were so beautiful. Thanks!!

  • Good, friend !

You know Ella's version, from "Ella sings Jobim"?

Lyrics are different, and, in my opinion, better than you use:

words are more "singable", more "music" in each one.

    Try, I'm sure you'll be happy :-)

Without talking about the Poetry ...

    Congrats !

  • ... lost my other comment :-( Repeat +/-: very good your translation, very difficult work ... I didn't read before about it ! Every language has his sounds, you know, it's not easy to find a song with the same text in other language version ... Congrats again :-) PS about the chords, if you want, can send to you Jobim version by email, but you will have to transport in F. Kiss
  • Just Perfect girl!! I loved your english version of this music that i love so much =)

    Elis Regina \o/

  • You really rock!! i appreciated your translation, you are the right person to write some of Jobim's song in english! :):)

  • Thank you!!! So many of those original translations are soooooo bad! It's too bad they are copyrighted and it would be very hard to redo them, legally.

  • yeah, i agree to you, maybe somebody can see how talented you are, and gives you an opportunity. i'll be the first one to buy your CDs.

  • @Travagliod hum,, pode comentar? rs "no one can say" ... it can sound better in english, but I think the better translation here would be, i´m the only one who knows etc.. :) ah.. mas gostei do video. bj But I liked the video

  • @Ludmilauol Hey ludimila, eu acho que em inglês soa mais natural dizer no one can say ao invés de I am the only one who knows, o que também seria correto. Mas ambos as expressões significam a mesma coisa, não?

Analise: "Só eu quem sei", ou "ninguém sabe", exceto quem canta.

Mesmo sentido. acredito que uma tradução se torna ruim quando a mesma foge do sentido original ou é usada em uma linguagem e contexto não apropriados com o texto original. Pode comentar também. :) abraços.

  • oh!!! very good !!!

  • beautiful voice, excellent translation.. can you try to sing it in Portuguese next time??

    ;)

  • Cantou muito bem = )

  • If I could learn to play this song any girl would be mine.

  • song's 'bout me..

  • Wonderful translation... great job!

  • Love your translation. It is as close as it gets to the original without loosing the meaning. thanks. i love it.

  • Excellent translation! Wish Sinatra was around to record it. God, that would be something... But your performance is flawless. Congratulations!

  • you are the loveliest woman alive

  • WOW!!!!!!! Miss you!

  • Can you write a english version to a song I compose?

I guess you are the right person to do it...

  • Excellent work! Your translation has capture the essence of Jobim's lyrics. As a brazilian and his admirer, I can I'm very impressed. Keep up the good work!

  • The only thing I can hear is your voice - and this is perfect.

  • bEAUTIFUL!!!!!

  • Great interpretation, great voice!

Just a comment, the chord after "...meant to you" at 00:37 seems wrong. Hope it helps :)

Got to your video through a friend of mine's, Marcelo. It was on the related links.

Both of you are awesome. Keep up!

  • I think it should be a D7+9 instead of an A, Mlee. :-)

  • I was playing here at home, and you could also try G#7+/9 (I mean one fret up from G7+/9, hope that is the chord).

But that is the only part I would touch. The interpretation is awesome and your translation (is it yours?) is quite good and fits perfectly.

  • G# is the tritone substition for D, which is also used in this song elsewhere, so you are correct too!

  • Something about a beautiful women a soft guitar and a lovely song.If my wife would let me i would be on the first plane to Chicago.Dam maybe she would! Thank You for shareing.

  • kd auriverde??????????

  • Beautiful interpretation. The voice is very beautiful and the perfect chords. Very talented girl. 5 stars!! myCongratulations

  • Great work; you've made a very singable version of this song, which as you know is one of my favorites.

  • great! ♪♪♪♪♪

  • just beautiful...

  • Yippee! Those other lyrics really are unsingable (tho Ella did OK!) Such sweet vocals (yours), and great playing, as usual! And you have TWO guitars that look like mine (tho I no longer have my jazz box)... These lyrics really great! I'm happy to have been a part of your journey to this new work! Now I can put that song back in my book!

  • Bravo Marylee !

As usual, very very good performance !

    Thanks for that.

    CM.

  • Oh Wow, so beautiful...what a wonderful translation! I Love it!!!Also like the guitar on the wall!

  • Thanks for the great start to my weekend!

  • 5 stars señorita. beautiful! nice translation and performance as always.

  • Look at you uploading videos at 2:00am... and me watching them at 3:00am (three cheers for insomnia... oy). But anyway, 5 stars. Gotta love Jobim, you, and translations.
