It's amazing how the vibration of this song in Portuguese, translate into English, what I could only hoped that it would say. Thank you for taking the time to make this video in English. I am delighted to know the meaning of this beautiful song. It's one of my favorites.
hello, thank you for enriching our community with your translation. this is one of the lesser known bossa nova tunes here in europe. this song is a hard nut to crack when it comes to the chords, i have tried myself to find the perfect ones and not fully succeeded yet, transcribing them based on the version sung by "os cariocas" which is in c-major... i will also check our your other videos.

You have done this song justice by your interpretation. Your singing is beautiful and your playing is almost impeccably In the Bossa Nova style but and the translation is what I enjoyed most. Portuguese is so passionate that at times does not translate well. This is a wonderful translation. The love shines through without the almost obsession sentiment that would with literal translation of this song's lyrics. Love the, "you were mine all along" Oh, and singing it straight through remi
I was listening to the "Elis&Tom" version and suddenly thought I'd look for the English lyrics, and came upon your song.
Wow I just loved it... delicate, wistful... and I was very pleased with your lyrics too. I see you did this years ago; I hope things are working out for you in all ways. Have you seen the terrible Jobim translations infesting the internet?!.
Anyway, thanks again, I really really adored your beautiful creations. -Larry B.
Thank you for helping to keep these beautiful classics alive in today's polluted music industry where any spoiled brat with an attitude and a couple of flashy dance moves can get a recording deal .You have real talent and I enjoy your videos. Great song, sung wonderfully, and played equally so.
hum,, pode comentar? rs no one can say pode ser mais sonoro em ingles mas acho que a melhor tradução seria, i´m the only one who knows :) ah.. mas gostei do video. bj
Amazingly accurate interpretation--not far away at all from the original Portuguese, while at the same time capturing the sentiment and intention perfectly well. Brava!
When I first read "So Tinha de Ser Com Voce (English)" I thought I wasn't going to like it, but I really do! You did find the right words to translate the song from Portuguese to English! And your interpretation is amazing!
i think most people think that you are putting it down, but the way i read your comment is you are saying, that she did a great job and you could almost cry because it sounds so great
it was definitely a compliment! this video is one of the most beautiful things on the internet. understanding the song is more than a matter of translating the portuguese.
Thanx for the chart and lyrics! Good job of WORK! and that is what music is. I try to get as many of these Brasilian tunes as I can. A friend of mine has a whole book of them with the syllables broken up with the chording. But some of the Djavan stuff that is funky I can't get with the Portugese, you have to think in a language to really sing or speak them. A lot of bossas USA singers can do in portugese, Ella did some well. Kevyn Lettau also comes to mind. English lyrics are always welcome! FC
She is a friend of mine on the Jazz Network(ning), has her own site and myspace, check her out. A cousin of mine sang some brasilian wordless vocal with her on a cd by John Patitucci titled 'Mistura Fina' a while back. I discovered her on a Jazziz(magazine) cd sampler, she is great!- FC
Foi bacana .. mas da para sentir que o ritmo não está brasileiro, mas ficou bacana sim !... o ritmo que tinha que melhorar, ser mais solto e mais pulsante e vibrante como a bossa nova e o samba são ! .. mas parabens ficou bacana
Another lovely translation and charming performance. Have you ever considered doing a translation of "Manha da Carnaval"? I've never cared much for the English lyrics ("A Day in the Life of a Fool").
... lost my other comment :-( Repeat +/-: very good your translation, very difficult work ... I didn't read before about it ! Every language has his sounds, you know, it's not easy to find a song with the same text in other language version ... Congrats again :-) PS about the chords, if you want, can send to you Jobim version by email, but you will have to transport in F. Kiss
Thank you!!! So many of those original translations are soooooo bad! It's too bad they are copyrighted and it would be very hard to redo them, legally.
@Travagliod hum,, pode comentar? rs "no one can say" ... it can sound better in english, but I think the better translation here would be, i´m the only one who knows etc.. :) ah.. mas gostei do video. bj But I liked the video
@Ludmilauol Hey ludimila, eu acho que em inglês soa mais natural dizer no one can say ao invés de I am the only one who knows, o que também seria correto. Mas ambos as expressões significam a mesma coisa, não?
Analise: "Só eu quem sei", ou "ninguém sabe", exceto quem canta.
Mesmo sentido. acredito que uma tradução se torna ruim quando a mesma foge do sentido original ou é usada em uma linguagem e contexto não apropriados com o texto original. Pode comentar também. :) abraços.

Very good menina, so lovely ! Congrats, sincerely.
I'm not "very agree" with chords, but I think this is The beauty of Music,
above all with bossa nova, and surely, with jazz.
I'm using to play this masterpiece with original chords written by Tom Jobim,
just changing some position and bass on guitar, sorry, don't know how to explain :)

words are more "singable", more "music" in each one.
