  • And what we are doing about the asteroids,

let them rain onto the moonbase would be, ermm - no good ?

  • The pizza delivery boy sent the pizza to the wrong place.

  • They'll be sending lots of information back to the earth, definition: A rock.

  • this video is our US tax dollars at work

  • NONONONO.... NOT GUNNA HAPPEN. DID YOU SEE APOLLO 18!?!?!?!

  • So when a little meter hits the glass it will smash and you will die ....

  • @jmtc3 the earth spins

  • The moon dust from the moon can be burned in high combustion and the product will be drinkable water, so the moon has an unlimited source of water just because of the moon dust. I got that from national geographic. And because of the unlimited source of water from the moon dust, you will get unlimited air.

  • what abt the gravity factor. what abt the pressure difference. what abt the cosmic rays.

  • @abhisekhrocksss Lol theres a fucking million things to take into consideration, I doubt anyone will be living on the moon within this century

  • now this is pretty sweet. =)

  • The Earth was made so perfect for life!

  • Why the fuck is it so dumbed down?

  • @zn3ss Its for kids to get interested in space questions. These problems are obvious to an adult, but if children start questioning them at a young age, who knows what they might come up with.

  • I can see things like this being played in lunar museums in the future.

  • So sad... the US was SO close. I think we should create some way of smelting the iron on the moon and converting it to steel and just start building. Worry about the interior later. Get the framing done.

Once that's done just start adding and growing plant life on the moon.

Once the plants are fully grown and are able to reproduce on their own, THEN add humans.

Too bad they scrapped the space shuttle. Would have been a great camp if they would have just parked it on the moon.

  • @tfransenDigitell

they scrapped the space shuttle because it was an old thing,

they now use the russian space shuttle with is more efficient.

and they are working on a new model right now.

  • I would not like to live on the moon. They don't even have broadband there, and no way I'm going back to dialup...

  • I would volunteer my life to live on the moon or on another planet if I could. Probably wont see anything personally in my lifetime. And im 20 years old.

  • What was the point of this... I was bored. And @SuzukiAkiraReita Indeed

  • It's amazing how many people just leave plain stupid and "know it all" comments.

  • we can do this allready? we can turn moon dust into water, water into air, , build a giant magnet to creat a magnetic field, build nuclear powerplants, build large domes to house crew and farm plants to eat

  • 1:45 the sun has a machine gun?

  • Our atmosphere doesn't protect us from the sun. Our magnetic field does. The moon's lack of a magnetic field would make life hazardous as we'd be exposed to cosmic rays. Moreover, we've already discovered a process where we can extract water from moon dust through a chemical process. This water can, in turn, be electrolyzed into breathable oxygen.

  • all i need is cable TV

  • uhh if anyone thinks this is impossible its oviously not... like think of the space station... it would be basicaly that but on land... and it may be possible to make the moon a planet like earth after maybe a few decades

  • Don't get me wrong I would love to live on other planets. I would love to see humanity conquer the stars and beyond. But there so much we still have to fix here. We still have people who live in poor countries. We still have people who are straving and have no homes. How can we advance the human race when we can't make it better for everyone to live.

  • How much taxpayer money did you blow on this shit??

  • alien attack what than?

  • WOW , I really wish i lived their . But here's a thing , only people who are REALLY REALLY RICH can live in the moon , people normal like us who r in the middle (like me , actually we have A LOT !)of the thing . SO yeah

  • They will make the moon a Prison planet to get rid of Prisoners they want you to forget about like Julian Assange(if Obama gets his way in extraditing him) .

  • Actually, it is possible to live on the moon:

    1. There's water on the North and South Poles, although in ice, it still provides basis for life. Also, with water, you can create oxygen for breathing.

    2. There is an almost unlimited amount of solar energy, due to the unfiltered atmosphere.

Of course, there's still problems, such as a large but limited water supply, and walking around in oxygen tanks, but i think these could be solved with future technology.

  • @Demonlock54 Kinda restating the video in a way, but my sound was off, so :P

  • @Demonlock54 YOUR BODY WILL BE ADJUSTED AND CHANGE THE HUMAN LOOK.. AFTER SEVERAL YEARS WIIL NOT ABLE TO LIVE IN EARTH AGAIN. JIJIJIJJI... THEN BECOME IN ALIEN JAJAJAJ JA,.

  • @Demonlock54 I'm not sure that the moon has Ice, but even if it does, it might also be solid CO2

  • @Demonlock54

Abundant solar energy also means abundant solar radiation, at much higher levels than on earth due to the closer proximity of the sun.

No air/water outside our little enclosures would mean more wear and tear, more friction and overheating on moving mechanical parts as there is no air or water to buffer, cool, or lubricate them...drilling would be a nightmare.

    plenty of other problems too.

  • @jmdin83 The moon is alternately closer and farther from the sun than the earth is due to it's orbit around the earth. There is more solar radiation simply because it is not attenuated by an atmosphere.

Ultrasonic drilling seems to be the way to go both on the lunar surface and below.

    Yup, plenty of problems.

  • @Demonlock54

    Well actually:

Moon dust is over 40% oxygen and, under the right circumstances, you could get water from pure moon dust.

    /watch?v=VRSNT_9ru2U

  • @Demonlock54 Yeah but that whole "less gravity" thing makes it hard on our muscles. And to have sex....

  • holy shit they're actually talking about living on the moon which i think is great and people are saying we fucked up earth enough y do the same somewhere else? but the thing is we wont make those mistakes again we will learn from our mistakes and start a new better world somewhere else even if its just on the moon

  • where are u going to put the corn after u shit it out. lol

  • Comment removed

  • "Earth has pretty much all we need" LOL Err... are we missing something?

NASA wins the EPIC FAIL award for the day.

  • very forward thinking- will there be animals and rain? vehicles using petrol? one must also consider who is going to be "of value" living on this colony. the rich and powerful need people to do work for them because they won't want to work, therefore making a two class system......oh man here we go again! very nice idea though, it would be easier to acknowledge alien contact and be their guests on their planet and prove that you are respectful of your new habitat. they will test your virtues.

  • P.S. - all people who keep saying stuff about not needing to or being capable of moving to another "planet": the moon is not a planet.

  • I don't take this video as a learning experience but it's not to teach 17-year-olds. It's to teach little kids (hence the -beginners- in engineering, science and technology - BEST) On that note, 1:46 - best part. laugh every time. Plus I think this was also aimed at the average American, as to attract people to NASA once again. I laughed, and I'm pretty sure that was the main intention. For people who know nothing about our space program or what it's doing, this gives them a clue.

  • Moon rock can be turned into water.

  • jugging by this video were to stupid to go to space as o hole we wont see space until we send the singularity version of asomo

  • I'm 14 and I can honestly say I learned NOTHING new from this video. I'm a huge nerd, mostly into sci-fi, so needless to say, this stuff interests me. A lot. The sheer fact that we could be living on the moon within a half a century or so, even at such a high cost to those going to live there, is astonishing. But I want to learn where we actually are on that. Not what we need and how to get it....

  • We are "so good at living on the earth"? I think NASA's Jim Hansen would ridicule this la-la land fantasy. We are "so good at living on the earth", that we're well on the way, to destroying millions of plant and animal species...not to mention the bi-product of our modern culture...carbon dioxide....and a little phenomenon called climate change. Perhaps the authors of this cartoon, should consult their own scientists, before the wasting taxpayers money on this eye-candy....to misinform kids.

  • eiffel tower is in the wrong place altogether

  • how about a NASAexplorer4children channel so that you don't waste our time and force us to unsubscribe?

  • I'm English. I believe if the Chinese get the moon, we're looking at a communism over population problem. If the Russians get the moon, fairly easy to guess - serious overpricing on Helium-3. If the Americans get the moon.. Well, let's just say it can possibly lead to world peace, or world war 3, depends on the President at the time. I guess. But why doesn't anyone think about the greater good? Honestly. Can learn a few valuable lessons from the Tau.

  • @kruglin according to space treaty's no one can own the moon or objects in space.

pretty much the UN gets the Moon

  • what about a magnetic field to keep our bodies from disintegrating?? or shielding us from cosmic radiation?

  • i think we should move to another planet after we start a few more wars and destroy the enviroment! good idea huh?

  • i'll skip the air,i can hold my breath

i'll skip water,i'll bring some cola instead and no food needed,i'd build my own mcdonalds

    we also need warmth,nasa

    WARMTH,EVER HEARD OF THAT!?

  • @CounterNerd over simplified? I think US gov was around about NASA giving away secrets and so told them to dumb it down. Job done!

  • @falkerhard

yeah i know i was just crapping about

because sun provides enough warmth through solar panels.

  • @CounterNerd You obviously did not listen when they said Luna does not have an atmosphere to shield us from the heat.

  • So we rape and pillage the planet and then go off to another one?

Doesn't anybody see how stupid this is ?

To transport enough equipment and people to make this even half plausible will finally finish off the earth and most of it's inhabitants, i.e. your children. Stop feeding technology and feed the world.

Quote "More than one-third of client households in the USA report having to choose between food and other basic necessities, such as rent, utilities and medical care."

    Get a grip people...

  • @viktorpetesrovsky And if Americans cut 10% of the defense and weapons budget they could provide those things easily.

But never should funds be cut from useful research, like that which NASA performs. The point of this technology is about human preservation, it's not just about this generation, or the next, but the next hundred or thousand generations.

  • @viktorpetesrovsky "Stop feeding technology and feed the world."

We feed technology *to* feed the world.

  • I wish we could all go to the moon, or other planets, but it is simply not happening anytime soon, seeing as we are so far from the state of "World Peace." As I see it, it's actually getting farther and farther from it. :( Therefore until we reach the point when all the crybabies we call major powers actually start helping one another (instead of stacking up as many Nukes as possible), we can not achieve world peace, and therefore, common space travel (whatever you may call it).

  • @Hahahailovedogs I'm sure this will get thumbs down, but I think before we as a human race will ever get anywhere else, we need to drop religion (which will never happen), stop arguing abot who is right, and work to getther as a planet.

  • @Nogert I totally agree with you.We humans need to stop fighting and start working together to achieve better things.

  • @Nogert Both those things will eventually happen, just consider social trend.

  • @Nogert Religion is faith; true faith is not something one simply 'drops'.

  • @Marth8880 I know, my point was that noone will ever lose their faith, so religion will always be, although it could die out over time.

  • Ohhh, okay then, I see what you mean. :)

I doubt it would ever die out, specifically Christianity, since it is the strongest and has the firmest standing in the world (which makes me happy). :D

  • whY m00n? theRe Are Lot pLanEt! to liVe! :P but oTher Planets are T00 FaR :P

  • (sarcasm)

We've lived on the earth for a long time and we've gotten pretty good at it, until the banks started buying votes with the taxpayers money to get what they want. lets help them get to the moon by unwillingly giving them our money!

    (/sarcasm)

If they put the 78.1% Nitrogen, 20.9% oxygen, and 1% Argon on the moon to start with, in that dome, but use plants to filter C02 to oxygen, we will eventually run out of nitrogen and argon? or is that not used by the human body?

  • prob not really we mainly need oxygen

  • @WatchedProductions Ok well I figure we do need the nitrogen. If it's only oxygen then we will over oxygenate our blood which would be lethal. So the 20% oxygen is at a stable ratio because the nitrogen makes up the rest 80% excluding argon. Our lungs don't aborb the nitrogen, it just helps set the balance the air out so we don't start dropping dead. The moon wont be good enough to live on until it has an atmosphere and a stable environment. (sounds a bit like the Spore game, but it's true).

  • prob the initial pump would be sufficient cos our bodies only uses the oxygen??? :D

  • Yah, thanks to obamas third world mentality I will probably never get to see humans living on the moon. I seen the first man on the moon in the 60s and thought the USA would be living on the moon by now. WTH? happened? I am outraged! America get ready to be a 3rd world country. Fools know not what they condemn themselves to.

  • LOL!!

  • What a creative way to ruin the rest of the galaxy :(

  • MOOON PIZA! :D

  • Finally a place where we can put Republicans...THE MOON or Mars. Then we can deny them reentry, do to the fact that they are no longer earth citizens, but MOON citizens. We can close our borders and try to shoot them if they try to cross the ionosphere. We can have ,mass protests against them and deny them earthen food stamps and housing. MUWAHAHAHAHA

  • sadly the purpose presented in this good video is pretty much now dead due to the cancellation of Project Constellation....

  • They say microwave frequency cuts right through the brain like butter; is that why so many people are having melt downs?

  • No water? Didn't NASA just discover masses amounts of water recently? I like the lil' dome animation they did! I wonder in what condition are the ones that are already there. Are they destroyed from millions of years of micro astriod collisions? Or are they still intact? It kinda gets the imagination going!!! COOL VIDEO!

  • didn't NASA find water or under ice oceans under one of Saturns moons?

  • Idk for sure about that, You must be reffering to Titan though...

Saturn is a very mysterious planet! It like a planet out of a science fiction novel. It has a moon that looks exactly like the death star from star wars and structures on the B sections of the rings. It's really a special place! Imagine all the torque that must be created but all that stuff spinning!

  • Another big track! Those on the dubstep should check my tracks when you get a chance! Respec'

  • haha..guys..that's so impossible..great imagination..but..Impossible

  • @AshleyWosh

You say? How many haven't said "that's impossible" in the past, and look at us now. Actually we got the technology to make it happen right now. What's impossible? Care to elaborate?

  • Besides why should we live on another planet when we can't even take care of the one we are living on right now! (Guys I'm not saying the moon is a planet I just mean on any planet not just the moon)

  • @GaarasTrueFriend, if we can get people to live on the moon and mars or whatever we can take more care of our planet because there would be less people, the more people the more crowded it gets, so thats why we should move people onto other plants or moon

  • @GaarasTrueFriend Who cares about taking care of planets. We can just move to new ones as technology progresses.

  • @BO3000B That would make us blood-sucking leeches and world-destroyers. (like the aliens we see in movies except it's us who come and kill)

I wouldn't want to be involved in that...

  • And who wants to stare at complete darkness and be bored da fuck, and if things break down then the eejits who have went will die then the smart people who didn't go will long lives!

  • @GaarasTrueFriend Why should you be on a computer when others are starving in the world?

Just because there are problems in the world doesn't mean you should be able to tell people what they shouldn't do.

People like you piss me off.

  • @AgrivatedKillah

    I agree.

    @tom1yum2goong

You cant say we can't advance the human race unless all of us can at the same rate, if that was the case we would all be dead a long time ago.

  • They say that plants can tranform CO2 into Oxygen but if there's no air on the moon there's no CO2...so that doesn't make sense.

  • @alcdre inside our habitats, the plants would help recycle the co2 inside our habitats

  • i see no flaw with mars or the moon if you do please relpy

  • Funny video, i wanna buy a big house in the moon

maybe, can it cost 50.000 $? lol

  • come on okay, we should already be there! this is really sad and pathetic......i have little hope for us now :( i should be living on mars right now but our governments are clearly corrupt.

  • @dillon822 this decade is the game changer dillon! its not the governmets but the private orgs and companies!

  • Looks like we're still a long way from Moonbase Alpha and to think that Gerry Anderson predicated this in 1999......:-((

  • they laugh at us with this video... there are a lot of secrets they hide to us, this video only show things that many people know.. life on the moon exist, also in mars. we will not be the first

  • @Neix It was only a matter of time before a pot head who knows nothing such as Neix posted something.

  • @LambdaQuarks hes a troll, thats what they do

  • Great video ! I hope that , the future generations will begin their lives on the moon , and also on Mars . But I think that , the moon has not the earth, water , air , heat as on our earth , then our lives will not be the same as people living on earth ; we will change our physical and mental developments . It was so dangerous for human beings indeed .

    nutier

  • oh wow, you showed them tough guy

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah we better go with mars.

The moon is too dangerous(asteroids at the speed of sound and burning radiation), just send some droids a put a new flag and will be happy. Now for Mars and beyond!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Espartan251 i want to live on the moon, but it will be in large underground structures

  • ......so, we we have huge technological problems of just getting everything to the moon, setting up "camp," and making it habitatable to live there, and you think that we will be able to live underground........

very inteligent, i dont see why they arn't doing it now hahahaha...........

you make it sound like we should be living on Titan right now. really, use your brain a little. think. do you honistly think there is any chance they will have underground cities in your life time, or at all?

  • What part of what i said that it would be right now or in my life time.

  • the only ever video'd and analized planatary colision was on jupiter in the 80's. everything else has been to small to be a problem. living on the moon would be no problem eather. besides, mars doesn't have an atmosphere eather, so asteroids and comets and radiation can all get to it.

  • i've got an idea. we send you to the moon without a space suit and see what happens

  • With people suffering from poverty and diseases in DESERT, it's been a long debate over the direction of our top scientists in our communities. Stupidity grows when ones regard opponent as a RIOT instead of valuable opinions. NASA has to rethink their future directions. With limited funding caused by the Great Recession, they have to put their focus back onto the Earth. Its a piece of good news for all of us (even space fevers) because our survivals must be their priority.

    Teru Wong

  • an lets see what happens

  • I wonder how much does that "coffin" worth? If the recycle process of food can be done on the moon, maybe we should try it somewhere on the Earth first. Why? Look at your satellite images of the Earth. What do you think? We need a perfect RECYCLE system of both food and drinking water (in cities) to stop desertification (a decaying / aging process) of our planet. REVOLUTION must start by a space agency in order to save "us". (Then) You're still the leading institution in our future.

    Teru Wong

  • cool video, the intro music scared the hell out of my cat (and made me jump a little)

  • in another vid of ScienCentral or someting it whas shown that water and oxigen can be produced from moondust! Because moondust contains much metaloxigens. That makes everything lots more easy.

  • Call me when Dominos is delivering to Mars. LOL

    This is an excellent series!

  • This video is good!

  • What about a shield for the cosmic rays/

  • Exactly. Am a big supporter of mining and human settlements on the moon and mars but the folks will have to live underground. There is no mag field on mars nor the moon and mag field is needed to protect from solar and cosmic radiation.

  • An asteroid defense system is also kind of necessary...

  • maybe for the satelites but i dnt think the moon gets hit that much maybe they should implent one but i dont think the moon gets hit on a day to day basis.

  • The moon has no atmosphere to burn incoming asteroids in (meaning they come in undecelerated and completely intact), and it's full of impact craters to show you it's not orbiting in some magic asteroid avoiding fashion.

A basketball-sized asteroid is pretty damn hard to detect, and if it's hurtling towards a colony airdome, it's going to be big trouble when it hits. Hence, you need a system to blow up incoming asteroids.

  • this is epic =D

  • More BEST please. :)

  • With no atmoshphere on the moon you won't be able to see the stars, like if you were on Mercury. Don't believe me? Look it up, you'll see.

  • Idiot it is NASA not the CDC the EPA or The world health organization they are trying to colonize space and make more room on earth and you know they dont deal with health or nature stuff, Idiot.

  • fuck NASA

why are you fucks still hiding shit from US? huh

i like how you squids said where so good at living on earth . . .

    where fuckn horrible

look at what our mother earth has turnd into

and with your ''intelligence' why couldnt you goofs make this world more healthy more alive instead of tryin to ditch it to go live on some hurting white rockk

FUCK NASA FUCK ALL YOU FREE MASONS AND FUCK ALL YOU BRAIN WASHED KIDS.

  • @innahcitay i think they want to live on the moon so they can use it as a docking station for future spaec exploration or so they can try and land on mars. they arent really looking at the moon to move human civilisation there - as JFK said - they dont do it because it is easy - they do it because it is hard. ツ

  • how about living under the surface of the moon.....just like the aliens are lol

  • how to live on the moon. take a fakking big lead shield with u because radiation would kill us!.

  • Funny animation and of course not meant to be accurate. But the relative star movement was really annoying: When you changed the view angle, all the stars changed position to each other as if they were just a few miles away. That coming from NASA...?!

  • Once again NASA delivers a cheesy and quite elementary video. I will say it again. How about some videos that aren't designed for children. Give us adults some useful and scientific information such as experiments that have been done in space. I saw a 45min video on fluid dynamics in space and I was completely astonished. Please NASA I've said this to you a few times now and many people agree. Deliver some better material for adults and people who understand more than the basics.

  • Please.

  • @buerm009 this is not the only NASA page - they have many - and each one covers different things. i have loads of them that talk about what you want. if you want me to send the page names in a message to you i will ツ

  • haha, I love the quirky style this vid has. Very cool!

  • lol weve gotten prety good at living on the earth? xD I guess you could say that, im sure the starving children that DONT live in america or the UK would argue. If by living you mean stepping on other people in order to build a skyscraper... sure we are great

  • well said.

  • I take it NASA Likes lots of Pizza :D

  • I think the moon would make a much better space station than another home. It has weaker gravity so it would help us launch rocket, and other things!

  • I love these!

  • @Segepop Me too, so informative!

  • Is it true NASA has already "selected" these people who they need to go to the Moon and Mars? They're already in training? I remember it was a video from a nasa account with a group of young adults doing some sort of training..

  • Comment removed

  • food, water, air, CABLE TV! :)

  • Id rather humans leave counterproductive crap like the primitive need to receive if you give (money) and the childish need to make everything fun (entertainment) at home on earth if we wer to go beyond.....If there are aliens they more than likely know that mankind is a joke.

  • @ 1:46 nice shooting

  • You are kidding me, living in the moon. Hahaha.. That would be awesome. But I can't leave fine, if I don't have internet, tv, video games something like that for entertainment.

Also, I like to eat pizza, that is a good idea. hehe.

  • it reminds me of that animaniacs show "its time for another got idea, bad idea"

  • perfect editing for the youtube audience with short attention spans.

  • this is why i like NASA theyre so american

  • clever :P

  • cool vid

  • pizza XD

  • do you think we will see astronauts try and build on the moon during our life time - or well after that? ツ

  • we're going to live on the moon this decade

    get with the program

  • @YoshiSeven really? they will be living on the moon within 10yrs!? woah i totally missed this! can you show me where nasa says this please

  • Not just nasa but other countries have confirmed this.

  • yeah - im not saying they didnt - i just want you to show me where they say this - NASA or otherwise. just send me one page that says this for me to see. i really want to see. show me where they say this! ツ

  • FUCK Google it yourself.

  • @YoshiSeven i have been - over and over. i searched it on yahoo too and there are no videos on youtube either that say we will live on the moon by 2020 - which has really dissapointed me as now i think you just made up. where did you hear this then if not online? ツ

  • Use the solar panel to block sun, win/win both ways.
