  • dude...love ur music man

  • @jesusisking91748 anyone who plays like that can make most guitars sound better

  • i just ordered my GS mini and for strings everyone likes there choice and strings also have alot to do with what you play how you play and how you tune....in saying that elixer medium strings are great i will never change from elixer my self

  • Do the light strings also mean that they have less tension and are easier to fret? Thanks :)

  • @HiddenPiano Yes, they can be easier to fret. Most noticeably, they are easier to bend and create vibrato.

  • @guitar2adam are those your finger nails or something u put on your fingers?

  • @LKWDGuitar i'm all natural

  • Great style and thank you for the review...

  • First time I ever "liked" any review. Most excellent ... and pretty much sold me on the GS Mini. :)

  • Any reason for light guage strings? Compared to medium

  • awesome playing man. rare to hear a stylistically sophisticated player demo and talk about a guitar.

  • Love your style, very different (in a good way). Saying your using light strings and recording with it when you have a full size Taylor GS behind you speaks volumes for this guitar to me. I'm sold.

  • Great review. I'm trying so hard to get a job right now so I can get me one of these babies! I know I'll love it. :P

  • Loved the fingerpicking stuff in the beginning! Amazing! I've been trying to learn Andy McKee's songs and its been difficult!

  • Can you tell me what you dont like about the elixr medium gauges that come with the guitar? Which ones are easier to play, and by changing the strings do you sacrafice any tone? Ive got the guitar for christmas im just not allowed to play it yet!

  • @Bullockman99 it wasn't that I disliked it. I've been playing in tunings that I have to tune up strings 1-2 half steps on that guitar, and light strings break less easily. Tone is great either way in my opinion.

  • @guitar2adam ok thank for that and the quick reply! :)

  • im going to buy this guitar for christmas just so i can play that cool strumming thing towards the end that you di. its so cool!

  • @TheRemedy96 sounds good! it really is an amazing guitar.

  • great review, I love your playing style. I haven't seen any other videos on this guitar in this style, or with people who have explicitly said they are using light strings so this was very helpful - thank you for taking the time to post it!

  • @sarahannlindsay my pleasure :)

  • I want one now :D

  • need this guitar!! played with it at guitar center before seeing looking it up

  • I wish I could play like you do, maybe someday with enough practice I will!

  • Great demo. Loved the 'August Rush' effect at one point early on when you began playing (about 1.39+). I have a GS arriving tomorrow, so am really looking forwards to it. Very useful and interesting to hear several different styles of playing in one demo. Thanks.

  • I'm so glad you made this video, all those douche old fat guys doing this reviews i almost gave up on buying it! Thanks! great playing, looking forward to listen your work! All the best!

  • Do you own that guitar ?

I'm considering buying one. Cuz your demo is quite convincing. Not saying you play really good ..

  • I'm sure someone has asked his already but what tuning were you using? Beautiful playing btw.

  • @LeeOades thank you! tuning is DADEAE, capo 3

  • @guitar2adam Sweet. Right, where's my steel string!

  • Adam, thanks for a great review. I'm more and more impressed with the GS Mini after every good demo I see.

  • Awesome!!!!

  • thanks bro for doing this video.. taylor company should pay you i guess :)

  • The whole session is very amazing. What do you call the technique between 1:50 to 2:10 ?? thx : )

  • @bizcheng i'm playing harmonics with my right hand and hammer-ons/pull-offs with my left. i'm not sure there is an official name for playing harmonics that way, but I show how to do it in one of my videos. just search guitar2adam and harmonics

  • @guitar2adam guitar2adam and harmonics?

how long you learn that skill ? is that hard to do..

  • @ghaibboy it takes a bit of touch and finesse, but its not too hard. just takes practice :)

  • @guitar2adam They're called harp harmonics officially ;)

  • @bizcheng the technique is called harp harmonics in case you were still wondering you can see Tommy Emannuel use them all the time

  • @prepre73 thank you for the info provided : )

  • You are a sensational guitar player man, I'm sure you realize that lol but wow :) Beautiful sounds, I got my GS mini yesterday, I was surprised to find it had Medium gauge guitar strings on it, I was looking to change them for light ones, I asked Taylor if that was ok, they said it's cool to do so but I might need to adjust the truss rod which frankly scares the shit out of me, did you find you had to do that lol?

  • @xDet3rmin4tionx thanks! I didn't notice any huge intonation issues with light strings. however its still probably a good idea to get the truss rod adjusted even though I didn't. It's not something to be scared of. Just have it done at a guitar shop where they know what they're doing :)

  • @guitar2adam Ok, thanks for your reply really appreciate it.

  • @guitar2adam Just put light strings on, it has lost a bit of it's volume and tone but the playability is DRASTICALLY better, I am unsure why anyone would use Medium strings tbh lol, I'm gonna get my dad to see if he thinks the trus rod needs adjusting in a bit :). Once again, brilliant video, I'm not sure I've heard sounds come out of a guitar as nice as the ones in this video, certainly not my guitar anyway haha :).

  • @guitar2adam I put medium lights on in the end :) Best of both worlds :D

  • Please PLEASE do yourself a favour and buy this guitar lol it is truly sensational, it's as special as the big baby and its just a gem. My favorite guitar i've ever owned.

  • Good.

  • Thanks for the review! I appreciated the information, and loved listening to your playing!

  • Do not waste your money on the soundhole pickup, it's terrible, quiet, cheap sounding (not very acoustic sounding at all), and doesn't work well with a looper pedal, it's terrible for acoustic playing

  • good shit man...you've got a great style...

  • Two Questions:

    1. Could you put medium strings on it? In you review of your other Taylor you high recommended mediums over light. Is there a reason why you go with light for the mini?

    2. Could you get a cutaway with that? Does not having one make it harder to use the upper frets for harmonics and what not?

(Ok. I lied about the two questions thing...)

  • @Imagine1350 I think it actually came with medium strings. I generally like the sound of medium strings more on big guitars, and prefer the sound of light strings on small guitars. Plus I plan on using this guitar for tunings which might require tuning strings higher than standard....and light strings are best for that because they don't break as easily.

  • @Imagine1350 and I'm pretty sure there isn't a cutaway option for the mimi (I don't see how they could do that without adding bracing to the back of the guitar and by that point its pretty mucha a different guitar all together) but I could be wrong. Cutaway's do make reaching higher frets easier, but they can slightly reduce a guitars volume output...and I imagine this effect is even more drastic with small guitars

  • omygosh ! I'm sooo looking forward to hearing your future ! these previews sound totally awesome ! (..tabs..?) ;)

  • holy jesus you're amazing. i've always thought so but even your original compositions are great

  • Wow Adam that is great. A new GS mini!! When you get used to playing a small guitar it is hard to go back...

Looking forward to your new tunes. The tidbits sound great.

    Best wishes

    Staffan

  • @DarKStylee961 That's a hard question to answer. It really depends on what tone you like and the style you play. Acoustic has a brighter tone and classical has a more mellow tone. Classical is easier for fingerpicking, but if you can master fingerpicking on acoustic it sounds amazing!
