This guy doesn't know a thing about earbuds, let alone sound in general. Don't listen to this crap. If you want to spend 100 bucks on earbuds go with REAL in-ear buds made for stage performance like the shure se215 single driver buds. They are closer to true isolation than any of these over-marketed and over-priced buds and have a better frequency response.
@yamahasca - Funny! I'm pretty certain I have the requisite qualifications to evaluate these headphones...I own them both! But on a serious note, the se215s are nice but lack the in-line mic. At the time I made this video, the Apple store was selling these side-by-side and I think a lot of folks were trying to determine where their $100 was better spent. I, like others, was looking for a quality in-ear headphone where I could also answer a phone call.
Sometimes Costco might have these for alot cheaper cause I got my old vibes there but you'll have to wait a long time cause they might not have them yet but vmodas are worth buying no matter what. Before mine got stolen it was rammed into my pocket hundreds of times and the only thing I saw was the rubber starting to tear but now with the new Kevlar reinforced cables it should not have any issues like that
@Nexumbiker110 - Costco had a V-moda earbud that ran $29 but I don't think it had the in-line mic. I'm guessing the sound quality was similar to the Duo 2.
the vmoda vibe duo (they are different than the vmoda vibe 2 in this vid) is the best.
it combines the best of both worlds. It is a little bit heavier than the apple ones but a lot lighter than the vibe 2. The sound on it is also just as good as the vibe 2. And they won't pop out of the ears while jogging or jumping.
no offense, but i am still laughing at the part when he said "woven technology". xD The "woven technology" vmoda uses for cabling is actually kevlar reinforced fabric.
@jeffreysyang = Agreed! I went with the Duo 2 at the time because the materials seemed higher quality. But the weight is really a problem. They look very cool in the package but I'd go with the 2s if I had to do it all over again.
That's totally true. Sometimes I think the best headphones for running or other similar exercise are the cheap over-the-head earphones we used 20 years ago!
Holy crap .. you will not believe it.. Just 2 weeks into my v-moda duo, the damn thing breaks.... The right earbud stopped responding.I looked it up, and this just happens to be a renown problem for the duo-brand. They all break withing 3-4 months.
I would believe it! I'm having a more and more difficult time recommending the V-Moda as I have heard from people problems with the earbuds failing. It's strange because I don't take particularly good care of mine and they have been working great for almost a year. In fact, they've gone through the washing machine and dryer twice and still work great. Contact V-moda - they are supposed to have good customer service.
I appreciate the feedback. And judging by how these folks so readily agreed on issuing a replacement I'd concur they saw this coming. But the question is How do i prevent this from happening again?? I'm Quite astute when it comes to taking care of my belongings.. It seems I may have to tape the area where the cable meets the plastic plug...
The reason I purchased and reviewed the Duo 2s and the Apple noise isolation was because of the in-line controls for the iPhone. As far as the general sound goes, I'm sure there are some quality noise isolation buds at a good price. I just checked Amazon and the Jbuds J2 are $29.95 (discounted from $79.95). The NI feature really does the bulk of the work. If you get them, let me know what you think!
Standard V-Moda bass earbuds. They go for about $14 a pop on ebay, with assorted color choices and a fantastic bass frequency.. Assuming you're a bass-freak like me.
On that note, i just grabbed some $50 V-Moda Vibe duo for my IPhone, and it's out of this world.
I don't think that information is correct. The box says a bunch of stuff regarding registered trademarks of V-Moda and then says in a new sentence "iPhone and iPod are registered trademarks of Apple Computer, Inc." which they are required to do as they use Apple images and names on their box. V-moda is based out of Southern California, not NoCal Cupertino.
LOL - I recorded this right after my son was born. I was trying not to disturb him or the three parrots that live with us! I probably need to get a better mic for later reviews. Thanks for the info.
i use 2 pads instead of one on my panasonic in ear headphones , ,it isolates alot more noise, ther awesome 6 - 23000khz, , but i want apple ones, there more like monitoring headphones with dual drivers, , awesome,
No, the Bose do not isolate. In fact, I was suprised at how well the V-moda and Apple noise isolation reduces outside interference. I am flying for the first time with the Apples and will try to let you know how they perform on flight. Finally, test at the store but think about purchasing both at Apple store as they accept returns up to 2 weeks - no questions asked! And you get a better sense of what they can do in real world conditions. Good luck!
If price isn't a concern, I would say get both! I am flying tomorrow and will test the Apple and V-moda on the plane. I can tell you that the Bose are fantastic on flights. I used to get pains in my ears and lower jaw but since using the Bose (I had success even with cheap Panasonic noise cancelling) I don't have that problem. But the Bose are not practicle for running or anything athletic.

I got the apple ones for only 10 and they are not fake. The sound quality is super clear. Not too much bass but very clear mids and highs.

@gumdrops27 - At $10, it's a no-brainer!

one problem with noise isollation earphones, is when you're running you can hear the rustle of your top which dims the volume a good bit

mbrenne72 2 years ago
you can get neck support ones from nike, which i recomend as they are a nice fit and dont cost alot of money
smellyboyband 2 years ago
so is it really hard to hear or is it only when the volume is down low?

Would you recommend the apple in-ear headphones now that you have them for 7+ months ?
redz220 2 years ago
I have the V moda vibe ii's and i noticed that if you clip them to your shirt, higher up; it takes off the weight and they stay in much much better.

Very good review. Neutral and thorough.
However, I had to turn MY volume up all the way to hear you. Maybe I should go ahead and spring for the V Moda's and come back. LoL
