daniel day lewis is a great actor and i think he would actually make for a great joker ... but it would be different ...it would be lame and it wouldnt be heartfelt if he placed it trying to copycat heath ledgers performance because we know it is not heath but then if he does make it his own... it would be odd because the joker in part 3 isnt the joker were seeing from part 2 ...heath owned this role and it ends with him ...maybe lewis can play the joker in a reboot that way it wont suck.

The intensity of his performances is unrivalled, and he commits 150% to his character so you know he will do justice to it. He's won two Oscars and will probably set a new record winning his third in 2013.

Daniel is good...It CAN be done. However we just don't want it to be because Heath was fantastic. But pretend he is alive and just refused to do the part. They'd have trouble but would eventually replace him like normal. They would use a very good actor, though who acts different. But, I'm sure people would be comparing and choosing a favorite too. I think Joker died with Heath Ledger, noone can ever replace him just as noone can bring Heath back to life. Both characters are gone, they should make a movie about Heath Ledger making the Joker.

@fennifer2005 Only in a very very long time. Personally i wouldn't appreciate it if they made a new joker any soon. They need to wait at least some years to pass for a new story to take place, since joker didnt die in the movie he was only captured, they can make something new. But not soon. It would be disrespectful to Heath's brilliant performance to replace him so quick.

@djeskolive although the death of Heath Ledger as the death of anyone, was a tragedy, the caracter of the joker was written before he was even born, and the joker has been interpreted by an Oscar winning actor such as Jack Nicholson, so to say that no one could replace Ledger in the role of the joker is laughable, especially if Day Lewis is considered for the part, as he is one of the best actors that have ever lived, where as the late Heath Ledger was a decent performer, at best.

@Cagliostro85 Im not saying there are not better actors than Heath. Day Lewis is great but Heath managed to bring the joker to another level. So i think it's gonna be very difficult for someone to replace him. Everyone loved him. Call me stupid but i personally prefer Heath over Nicholson as joker anytime. I won't say Nicholson was better over respect, he was different. Heath gave him personality in a different way. Jim Carrey can be crazy serious too, like in "23". Think about it.

hes too old, but to be honest I think he would be better. Im gonna put it out there, i didnt care for heath ledger as the joker, his vocal intonations annoy me and come across unwatchably unrealistic, Aaron Eckhart I thought was the better actor in the supporting role slots plus he got to make out with Maggie Gyllenhaal and not her brother like Heath did. Daniel Day Lewis may be the best actor living at the moment, but he so rarely take roles that people forget about his awsomeness.

Also had you done real research instead of just going by magazines you would know, yes he was on meds but family and close friends said he would NEVER committed suicide, he loved his daughter too much to leave her.
