  • Damn you got 73,000 miles? Thats a lot of riding

  • Hey thanks bro. I just bought the same bike 3 days ago and I had no idea what the a b c mode meant. You explained everything in a nut shell. Thanks again.

  • This guy is wrong, and I have to point it out, the mode settings are as follows:

A: Full power, standard, how the bike left the factory.

B: Full power until 50% throttle, then it reduces the power to allow for wet riding.

C: Reduced power all across the rev range for increased fuel efficiency/riding in adverse conditions.

Not having any mode set = you are in 'A' mode.

A Mode does NOT reduce your fuel consumption compared to no mode setting at all. Who buys a supersports to worry about fuel?

  • Shifting the mode on the fly WILL FUCK UP YOU COMPUTER in your bike seriously go ask your dealer about it I just got a k8 six hundred and that's the first thing he warned me about.... I'm not a mechanic or anything like that just going off what a professional told me so check it out for your self, I'd hate to see you ruin a beautiful bike like yours..

  • I work at a motorcycle dealership im a mech their..... n i have a powercommander n other stuff on mine so my bike is not really stock but thanxz tho not bein n azz

  • lol watch (Suzuki GSX-R1000 Drive Mode Selector with John Reynolds) in this vid they show that you can shift on the fly

  • @icharm425 I am sorry to tell you that your dealer is not telling you the truth. More than likely cause he doesn't actually know. He is there to sell the bike. According to the factory you can change maps on the fly at any speed or engine speed.

  • A -setting is just the Normal setting, not some crazy racing setting.

  • With a power commander and the kind of exhaust that i have it makes it a pretty race ready setting. I cant just ride around town in that setting

  • Yeah you can, it's just the normal setting. Every other 600cc you see is driving around in "A mode" and A-mode only because the others don't even have the 3 mode option. Is yours a 600? What's the C mode like on it?

  • No not every other bike is riding around in a-mode their bike are just set two one power band at the factory but the gxsr's happen to have a switch to change... Yea its a 600 C-mode on mine is stock setting no change from having it on or off powerband is short and kicks in around 6grand

  • lol....dude....

  • @Supratt88 the stock setting from the factory is A mode. If you are riding in any other mode and turn the bike off once you turn it back on it will return to the factory setting which is A.

  • half tank of gas gone in 10 miles? haha dude ur bike is f''d up... mode A i get 43MPG screwing around, and 60HWY (Power commander) 38/54 stock

  • would a1997 gsx r600 be a good beginer?

  • Yea it would be a great bike i have one as a stunt bike.... Good power not 2 hard 2 handle

  • what about a cbr f4?

  • its a good bike 2 juss dependin on wat yr their kinda a big bike but so ir the older GSXR's

  • cbr 1999 f4 is bigger than a GSX r 1997??

  • Im not really sure on that i juss knw them r the yrs that the 600's were pretty big bike that 2days 600's

  • so what do these modes do? is it only on the 2008 models?

    would a

  • Its on the all the newer models no it started on the 08 4 the 600's but its on the 1000's too... It changes the timing on the bike so in turn it changes the power band of the bike

  • if i got a 600 could i like restrict it to a 250, or like 400-500 just to learn ??

  • No u get wat u paided 4 u get a 600 dats what it will b u can only make them faster.... U could always go out n get a ninja 250 or somethin but n like a couple of months u'll want a 600 so its a waste of money

  • see the thing is a ninja 250 is liek 5 grand in windsor ontario....and a peice of shit one is liek 3500 beat up.....i cant afford anything over 2500....and all i can afford is 600..

    ah so tuff lol

  • @hallal55 no that is not how it works. First of All theres always a power band on everything. There is no such thing as something doesn't have a power band. There is the highest point in the power band which is where the bike has the most torque and a certain RPM. This is a great bike but for a first bike I would stay away from super sports because they suck for the street. Trust me I know I have one and a sports touring and my sports touring owns my SS for the street.

  • 10 miles and you ran out of gas? i got the same bike, same year but in yellow and black.. full tank will last you a long time

  • Ya runnin a power commander on A and the moder on A with the HR1 exhaust the gas milage goes to sht. I have a flame out my exhaust in every gear when its wide open

  • what is the power like without any of the modes on? aNd also in C mode couldnt that also be kinda like for beginner?

  • Well without them on yes its kinda like having it on C but then again its different. Without C mode on its more of a smooth rise in the rpms but with it on its smooth until bout 6,000rpm's then it just kinda throws you back on the bike then it slowly lets off the power band after 10,000rpm's

  • sick bike.

    i want a 07 though.

  • ive been riding dirtbikes a long time and i really wanna start riding streetbikes, i was thinking either this bike , cbr600f4i, or a supermoto. what do you think?

  • Naw dude get a 600

you shouldn't be disapointed about the power, and it should be easy to learn.

i'm getting this bike when i turn 18.
