thanks for the info on Rambo. I just picked up the Rambo Trilogy on Blu ray and First Blood has both commentaries from the two DVD editions. I got the boxset for less than $20. Still need the 4th Rambo film on blu ray, plus its Extended Cut edition, since there's different features on both editions.
@ShinAkuma21 If you're talking about the anime Street Fighter II V, I used to have all 29 episodes on Laserdisc. :) Watched it several times over, loved it! I really need to get it again, I see there's a snazzy complete series DVD set that's been out a while...
hey shawn which survivor is your most favourite i kinda liked pearl islands , austrila and even all stars but man they keep on coming with survivor stuff
@ericman1234567890 Why did you ask me 4 times? I haven't seen much of Dragonball. It looks okay, I'll probably check it out on DVD at some point. I'd like to get the Dragon Box editions of DBZ, actually.
I've enjoyed your reviews and your videos all about your enormous DVD collection. Your reviews especially have well informed me on some of the particular releases of certain movies that have better swag and better documentaries than others. I appreciate this because I am an avid Documentary watcher, and I am sooo glad about Blu-rays and what they are able to pack onto them.
I am also a huge Lupin III fan, I trust you bought the Special Edition of Cagliostro?
@FilmmakerJ Alas no, I've only got the old 4x3 Letterboxed version. I really need to get the Special Edition version one of these days...and the rest of the movies...and the rest of the TV volumes...oh, and the live action movie...lol.. There's a LOT of Lupin out there! :)
Well I don't know what it's like up there in Canada. But the status report on the movies is, disscontinued. You probably knew that already. But I have bought all of the imported films, individually from Amazon, because the sets are up in the 100s of dollars. Fuma Conspiracy is still in print, and so is the live action movie. I just bought the live action film at a convention.
Also the series DVDs have been discontinued as well. They never dubbed all the available episodes anyway.
If you ever care to watch all of the films, you'll have to download torrents of the films with subtitles.
Besides the DVDs, there was one movie that I had to buy on VHS because it was only brought to America once, and it was only subtitled. "Legend of the Gold of Babylon," which is 3rd film they made. The 4th film if you count the Live Action movie.
I am extremely surprised at how well you can care about one film series as rare as Lupin, when you know, and buy so many others. =P
Love your collection of Anime! I recommend you also watch "Wicked City", "Venus Wars", "Fist of the Northstar", "Ninja Scroll", "Macross Plus" and "Fatal Fury"
@importcarfan I actually had Fist of the North Star on VHS back in the day, and had both Ninja Scroll and Macross Plus on Laserdisc. All great! Haven't seen the others you recommended, I'll have to check those out.
You really need to add Woody Allen's "What's Up Tiger Lilly" to your collection. So bad it's good. And you will never look at an egg salad recipe the same again...a must see and add to the collection.
Gah...I'm still missing Volume 7 (seen the episodes, AWESOME, just don't have the volume yet), and STILL haven't seen 2nd Gig or Solid State Society! I really need to get on that...
WHOA! DUDE 2ng GIG is AMAZING and Soild State Society is really really good. Make sure you get the steelbook version of it though. (Its the one with the most extras).
Most of the time, I watch the subbed version first time through, and only watch the dubbed if I'm putting it on in the background while I'm doing other things (or just feel lazy). The GitS dubs are some of the few I've actually liked, so I watch it dubbed fairly often. But stuff like Evangelion, the dub is god-awful so I watch it subbed. Depends what it is, and what mood I'm in I guess! But I lean toward subbed for sure.
BTW There is actually a complete season set of Jackass that includes all the sketches, both movies and and an extra disc, but it's only released in Region 2
You know great anime and I have not seen you get any anime on your dvd updates. But you're missing the best sci-fi (if not the best ever) anime of all-time Cowboy Bebop. I know you pretty much know what dvds you are going to buy in the months to come, it was just a friendly suggestion.
Yeah, I've fallen a bit behind in my anime due to focussing on other parts of the collection lately. Cowboy Bebop is one that's been on my list for a VERY long time. Still haven't seen it, but a LOT of people have recommended it to me. I see the Remix Edition is now available as part of the Anime Legends collection (ie: about 35 bucks for the complete series!), so I've got my eye on that one. :)
I highly recommend you checking out the stop motion short film called Peter and the wolf. It is a pbs movie that they put on dvd and it really good, a little pricey for being only a little over 30 minutes but all the features make up for it. It is not usually my type of movie but I think everyone needs to see this. You can find it on ebay and amazon but make sure it is the pbs version directed by Suzie Templeton.
HEY ZARANYZERAK, are you interested in getting the Disney editions of Miyazaki films such as My Neighbor Totoro or Spirited Away? There is a new 8-Disc DVD set of Die Hard (most special features) and the Blu-Ray Collection (quality of course) so you should get either one of those.
Anyway, I would like to know what kind of Anime TV Show/Movie to start a craze with because I don't know whether or not I'll be into Anime. I've already seen Akira but I can't remember if I liked it or not. So if you could, recommend an Anime title that anyone could like.
Wow, that's a tough one. The thing about Anime is, there are just as many sub-genres of anime as there are "normal" shows/movies. It's all a matter of what you're into - I tend to lean towards the sci-fi anime, so for me I really enjoy stuff like Robotech (and the original Japanese version, Macross), the old Gundam shows (Gundam 0079 andZeta Gundam, which were the first two series'). If you want something with a little more depth, I HIGHLY recommend Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.
You should get spirited away, howls moving castle(movies) and death note and Evangelion for your anime collection their really good.
