@EarendurTelemnar That's a matter of personal interest, considering how they are in many ways, much different. And don't think that alle the Warcraft lore is what you get from WoW, it is as I have claimed before - a lot of history and lore involved to read about. Personally I think both LotR and WC have an excellent storyline that I love.
hey dont blame it all the f2p players, if u didnt notice there are as many jackass subscribers as there are f2p, + it means that even if a person cant afford the subscribtin for some reason they dont get screwed over
@EarendurTelemnar Lotro community has been dieing lately. Some people have not noticed as it is taking a while but it is. Recently I found this level 65 warden who could have helped me as I was getting badly beaten and he was not using his aoe skills just so he could watch me die. Then when I saw him again he spam slapped me. I slapped him back and he said he reported me.
@pok282 not everyone is like that, infact in my experience, most people are willing to help others out, but there are always gone be jerks who get off on screwing people
@EarendurTelemnar ah how i wish i could go back to 2007....where we grinded traits and not radiance gear....we needed a fellowship for most of book 1...but so much has changed now..especially the community.Ever since F2P i've heared the word NOOB a lot and seen !@#$!@#$ much more on ooc and glff. /sigh
I found a lot of tea party racists on Landroval. In fact the vast majority of Landroval's playerbase were tea party white supremacists until all the F2P players came in and civilised the servers some what.
Jesus H. Christ.....look at all those bullshit mods on the screen. How does any of it add to the fantasy element of Lord of the Rings? Sigh.......I'm off to go read the books again.
@EarendurTelemnar Yeah, but i got to critisize the f2p. Ye ye it's free to donwload and play as it is, but the level of restriction you have is something horrible. Here's some examples; only 2 characters per server, max amount of money is 2 gold, no auctioning ability, can't send mail, very few virtue spots, destiny points are useless, some classes are locked, some areas are locked etc. etc.
But still it's a game worth playing and perhaps investing in.
I've been playing Lotro for quite some time now and I've realized that if you truly want to have any hope of getting to higher levels and making money, you HAVE to buy the premium or vip account which are quite expensive. You can't really do anything with the real f2p account. But still the kinship system is worth mentioning, it beats WoW's guilds hands down.
Bear in mind that WoW has almost 12 million players, much more than Lotro has. So it's understandable that there are a lot of kids playing it, but you're correct anyway.
Also, I can't stress enough that the upcoming Cataclysm expansion for WoW is going to be a serious overhaul that will rival Lotro atleast story wise.
I'm not trying to undermine Lotro by any means, it's a brilliant game and it's free, so go ahead and try it!
LOTRO and WoW have their cons and pros. LOTRO's Community is more mature and probobly older in age (not that it matters, im 13 and I play this game) but WoW's Community I found to be full of assholes but thats just my opinion. Lotros graphics are stunning while WoW;s Graphics are somewhat bad and dont really amuse me. Combat wise. WoW might have an edge. Idk thats my opinion. Lotro however is very user friendly and is extremely fun. But has a pretty short range of players. Btw its going f2p
@GmodAttic Hm, there are assholes on both sides, but of course there's more in WoW since there are more players as well... Graphic wise I agree with you, wow is pretty cartoony but at the same time less cluttered and clumsy. The UI in lotro is horrible, just horrible, but it has much better feel to it what comes to lore and general atmosphere.
Even though lotro is now f2p, I'd say WoW cataclysm still has the upperhand (judging from it's beta play)
@Boltazer Yeah, that was on my old PC with a 256MB graphics card and single core processor. It is stunning on my current quad-core PC with 2 1GB graphics cards in SLI... LOTRO is rendered beautifully.
may i ask something, is LOTRO very similar to wow in gameplay? i havent played it, but i play wow, and i think they look very alike...and i agree with DJPsYkik, that in wow u r DEPENDING on large amounts of cash and a good guild to achieve things at high level
Similar being that a lot of the standard MMORPG mechanics are the same (they didn't screw with mechanics that already worked), but there are some innovative things in LoTRO that differ from WoW. Both WoW and LoTRO have their better points, I wouldn't say one is "better" than the other.
I wouldnt really compare the two games because they're are so many differences but there are some things alike. The Legendary Item System is much different. PvP is different...its a whole different game.
Elves had in the past single handedly killed a balrog, and I believe a man did aswell. Also there are different strengths of balrogs, just like there are different strength in Elves. This is a lesser Balrog, more of an infantry member in a Balrog army back in Morgoths day. The Balrgo that Gandalf fought was a great Balrog, far more powerful.
It's a bit unrealistic for lotro to fight a barlog as a man, elf, dwarf etc. He was really too power for all of them only greatest wizards like sauroman and gandalf could handle them tbh.
Durin's Bane was the Balrog from the books/film which Gandalf defeated finally above Zirakzigil. In the game this is not the same balrog, but rather another one and although still powerful, this one was not of the Maiar like Durin's Bane. Also, in this battle there is an Elf NPC which assists the group, if she goes down everyone does. This can be somewhat compared to if Gandalf was to assist.
WoW raids usually have more than 12 people as well. What is good about LoTRO is that the game is not heavily dependent on raiding/PvP to achieve things, whereas in WoW all the good stuff has to be achieved that way or by paying ridiculous sums of cash for them.
No, that video was me playing on my old box which I built in 2003 and was slightly out of date regarding specs. Any future videos shouldn't look as crappy.
Well. your reaction time is about equal to zero. you're a clicker so theres a gap of about 3 seconds betwen each ability. I would love to see you tank something that actually move. :)

Lol kilithaza your a noob, he's doing everything right, if he holds the agro and focuses on tanking. he's playing his tank properly. if he doesnt do that other people in the group get the agro and they all wipe.
just by tanking him faceing the group is the first mistake and he is right about clicking, it takes longer then if you combine, but as we se its also possible to do it like this.
in realitty, balrog would crush any class with his foot

So the Balrog isn't tanked by a lore master that spams "You shall not pass!" ? How boring. ^^
