One mistake I noticed beings that this film is about Elvis Presley, is that GrandMaster Larry Tatum whilst portraying SGM Ed Parker is wearing his LTKKA and Pasadena Tiger patch on his suit beings that the film is set in the 70's and is shot in Larry Tatums Kenpo Studio. Some damn good moves and I agree with others Larry Tatum should make some movies, he is shit hot
Master Tatum is awesome I hope he makes a movie about himself too. This movie was pretty good too but I couldn't wait for the part were Tatum showed off his moves playing the one and only Master Park. :) And Jeff speakman should do another Perfect weapon too. :) Come on just do it. :)
the true is: the kenpo comunity we need more movies about kenpo something like perfect weapon you know and the only masters who could do that is master tatum or problably master speakman who do a good job on front of camaras..I hope some day watch a movie about ED PARKER^S LIFE ..will be awesone!!
I heard that Master Tatum loved the ladies a little too much for Parker's taste, I DON'T KNOW THIS FOR A FACT THOUGH, if anyone here knows the real story I'd like to know, but this is the rumor.
One: I train at a Tatum school and never heard anything about them being on bad terms. Two: If Ed Jr. had a problem with it, I'm sure they would have accommodated him on it. He probably felt that Tatum was a good choice as well... and three: I can list a million biographical movies where the actor or actors did not look much like the people they're portraying.
From what I understand, it was a very diplomatic decision to cast Grandmaster Tatum as Senior Grandmaster Parker and I feel he did a phenomenal job. The comment that should be made is that the Kenpo community should be honored that 100% true Kenpo, including prominent Kenpoists, were featured in another major motion picture.
master tatum was one of parkers top students. LTKKA is probably the best known of all the kenpo branchs. master tatum made the most sence for the character
Yes it is called "Protecting the King" and was written by my friend David Stanley who was Elvis Presley's step brother and the youngest bodyguard in rock n roll history. It is about David's life as Elvis's brother and bodyguard.
i dont really understand the scene when he does thundering hammers on the guy and he charges him. i guess it jus portrays his cocky attitude that he has throughout the movie
Larry Tatum is a DOUCHEBAG!

Larry Tatum as Ed Parker. Why didn't they just use Chuck Norris for God's sake? Ed Parker, Jr. wasn't good enough? WTF.

Agreed, Tatum looks nothing like Parker and Parker Jr. looks just like him. Very disrespectful, especially since Tatum and Parker split on BAD terms.
