I don't think people understand that the motor was designed for daily driving. Every GM i4 vehicle I have been in has impressed me. These motors have a ton of toque down low and don't have to rev high to get moving.
i dont understand why people have nothing good to say.. but who cares. its just the same ol 2.4 with direct inection.. the next gen ecotecs should make you happy and some will get more diarrhea of the mouth
i like how really none of the stuff he showing is really new... or really all that helpful to that engine. 182 Hp? they need to do a better engine tune on it to get it to work better. make it breath.
2.4L @ 11.2:1 compression and variable cam profiles and it makes 182HP. The torque is what you would expect for the displacement. But the horsepower seems to indicate the motor just doesn't breathe as well as it could.
GM's 2.4l engine never did breathe right from the original 2.4l twin cam found in the cavaliers, sunfires ect. ive owned a cavy with a 2.4l for a while and i noticed how bad the intake is on the car. very bad design on the intake, throttle body, manifold. almost makes me wonder if they did it on purpose to keep the power down....

Alot more effecient than Honda motors. Honda's have to spin upto 9k RPM to make 190 and still have half the torque.

@rexoverbey
torque comes from 11.2:1 compresion. And Honda b18 engines are 600cc smaller.
