The important part is what you say after pulling on that arm. If you hesitate or fumble your words, it won't work. Power of suggestion is what it is all about. And that has to happen immediately after startling the brain.
The arm pulls look a lot more forceful than they are. They are quick but have a very short range. I have seen people do them so that the head jerks forward--not good on the neck. Don't do it unless you've been trained!
