You're wrong on both counts, Harry is not in the Royal Marines and hasn't passed their entrance course. He served abroad for a couple of months and then was pulled out because the royals and Government thought he may get hurt, shame they don't feel the same way about our proper troops

@hali42 Ten years? I was commissioned 2nd LT after I got my degree. Officer training school is only a few months in USA IF an officer attends a Military academy. They are commissioned after they complete their college courses and obtained their degree. That is normally 4 years.

DIVeronica, its a year of BASIC training at Sandhurst, it carry on for longer than that. Just what areas of US forces officers have 4 years training?

The ROTC itself is 4 years combined with a "warrior forge" or something like that at the end, that I believe lasts about another month, and then you get trained in your MOS at whichever Fort you are selected to go to, or you choose to go to if your grades and leadership marks are high.

I agree that Prince William and Prince Harry being in the military is very impressive and noble. I don't think Bush's daughters or Chelsea Clinton should be expected to join our military though. Really, do you want any of those three in the armed forces? I don't. If one of our future presidents has a son then I think it would be nice to see him join the military.
