  • love this song , it was inxs first single

    awesome band

and a very sexually experimental leading man

what else does a band need ????

    shame he has left us

i wanted to show michael a trick i do

    damn

  • second single

  • true except he wouldv'e already experienced ur trick...not much original these daze

  • I stole this song off the radio. 2JJ and it went onto tape. I miss that tape. It had soooo many cool songs of the 80's on it.

  • Another Band Conspicuously absent from the

Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.

And as I've always said a that is Badge of Honor.

  • I used to wonder why so many people opposed that Rock 'n' Roll Hall Of Fame. That was until I got the joke.

  • INXS is the greatest. I miss Michael. He was so talented.

  • This song is so GOOD. Better than all of the remix of this. Its Amazing 5 stars.

  • has any1 seen the remix of this i think its aussie??

  • spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaakkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkka!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you mommaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Australians rule

  • wow... this sounds like a talking heads song. Guess they were inspired by the talking heads during this time period.

  • They took and borrowed from everybody, including local bands.

Name: INXS = answer to XTC, the name of UK act.

Sound: A cross between The Sports and Mi-Sex (two Australasian bands)

Songs: A mixture of modern day New Wave bands like Devo, XTC, Talking Heads...

Live: high energy and slight aggression in order to survive in the Australian pub rock environment.

They were just a young band taking everything that was important in 1980 and applying it into their act.

  • Does anyone know where the shot at 2:41 is? City? Suburb?

  • its a parking lot from australia

  • A parking lot in Australia.

    Australia doesn't export parking lots...

  • what the hell, well, if you know tell me then!!!

    where is that place

    cya peace

  • Looks like the old Paddy's Market in Haymarket, Sydney

  • Thanks

  • Thank you, I love this song :)

  • INXS is more new wavy clashy sounding back in da dayz.

  • and more Bay City Rollers back in '77.

  • I love this song, MH i love you!

  • Dog's In Space.

  • Would this be termed "prog rock"?

  • @Dyzm: This is new wave. It has an basic electronic punkish sound. INXS were originally a new wave band.

Prog rock is more of a big epic sound with classical and jazz influences, more complicated music and often with unusual instruments thrown in.

  • Big Talkin' Heads influence here. I love this fuckin' song and band.

  • I think there's more XTC influence than TH, mainly the "Drums and Wires" album and songs like Chain of command, Millions, real to reel.

I admit I didn't know well nor like Inxs, but this

    is really a great song.

  • Not familiar w/ xtc, have heard the name, but INXS were so fuckin' innovative and still timeless.

  • You're right but I suggest you to listen to XTC,

    you could like them.

Making plans for Nigel is a good way to start.

  • I've heard that's a great record ("Nigel.....")

  • I have both this and Making Plans For Nigel in my Favorites. :-)

  • Agree with you! love XTC and the ablum Drums and Wires! There is a little influence but I think Inxs has there own unique sound here though! Great bands though, wish there were more like them today!

  • I love MIchael's moves!!

  • Hutch's daughter Tiger looks just like him in this video!

  • They don't make cool frontmen like the Hutch anymore. He is missed!

  • according to kirk the video cost 1200 bucks

  • Umm, they're Aussies.

  • nothing fake about it- Michael had a British background

  • Can U believe how poor these guys were then. This vid was made in a Coles backshed

  • Smiles sadly. We LOVED michael hutchence....

  • Comment removed

  • love this song..

    addictive.

  • classic !!

  • great aussie legends! and i wasnt even born when this was out!!

  • This song is so cool. "Shove it brother! Just keep walking!" Awesome indeed!

  • Fantastic song, his dancing somewhat reminds me of Peter Garrett from Midnight Oil.

  • lol yer but michael lifts his feet off the ground HAHAHAHA

    i love midnight oil tho

  • What do you mean by that?

  • I was 8 when I saw this video in 88' I remember because I was completely in love with Michael Hutchens...I would stare at the t.v. and dance his moves.LOL

  • HAHAAH you sound like my aunty!!!

  • Wow, I have not seen this video in years!!! I was 15 in 1980. How young they are in this video.

Thanks You Tube for having it. Miss you Michael!!

    DMBBG in Florida May 2009

  • Hutchence was 20

  • I was 12 throughout most of '80, and I never heard of INXS when MTV came out in August, '81...... diggin' the vid!

  • MTV only started playing INXS videos around the later months of 1982 when 'The One Thing' came out.

  • I saw INXS at Festival Hall at the beginning of '81. They were one of the support act to Cold Chisel!

  • I was 18 when this song came out!

  • IM 13 And i still reckon INXS.... BEST BAND EVER!!!!!

  • so cool was 13 when this came out still love it

  • fast car driving, sleek and modern, public transit, photos waiting, blood and glass, three points of rain, carpet lining, seats reclining

  • omg he was 19 in this clip

  • INXS played at my high school in 1981

    . Awesome.

  • You are dating yourself!

  • Please explain?

  • I don't get what JoshLucas is saying either.

  • You said INXS played at your high school in 1981 and I said you were dating yourself.

  • Clever words on smooth tongue talking, shove it brother JUST KEEP WALKING! Love it, RIP Michael!

  • i likes so much his haircut ^^ so fresh , rip hutch

  • this songs pretty cool lol, he looks well young there haha, rip mike

  • A Deluxe records budget. I think they were more keen to invest their money into the Dugites during INXS's early-uncertain period.

  • how did they go from this to KICK? LOL INXS rules.

  • i never new this song was inxs.should have stayed on this path, good grub!

  • You're right there. It kind of got boring after The Swing...

  • I want that floor.

  • You could make one after a trip to bunnings!

  • hahahahahahhaha

I think INXS actually made the floor! They spoke about this video in an interview and Michael said he wanted to make the band appear to be playing in a box.

  • That's true! The floor is literally black bin liners with white gaffer tape / duck tape.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG! It's soo catchy.

  • I never heard this song

Dam it's pretty dam good but what INXS song isn't a masterpiece

  • inxs rocks rip micheal

  • hi everyone what are the songs where they're in japan for the video, and when there on the back of a truck?

  • Original Sin (shot in Japan)

    Don't Change (back of truck)

  • ahh, first INXS song I heard...

  • INXS ROCK AND ALWAYS WILL!!!!

  • There's a couple of INXS songs I'd count higher in my faves than this one (Stay Young, Dont Change, To Look at You and Johnson's Airplane) but still one of their better pieces of work.

    RIP Michael.

  • soulwax do a pretty cool remix of this - hang all djs vol 3

  • I honestly think that this song is awesome !

  • lol Jabberwocky7 :) I like your style mate :)

  • the greatest rock and funk singer australia has produced,a legend

  • j'adore ce groupe, au départ ils étaient plus "rock" comme cette musique avec les guitares et le reste

  • I'm deducting myself 1000 points. That was the first time I've ever this song and I've called myself an INXS fan since 83.

Wow. I just think of all the times I missed out on enjoying this song over the years. Got some catching up to do.

    Miss Ya Mike.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.... sorry for laughing but this is considered one of INXS's best songs and was their first hit in Australia. Even the new up-and-coming 15 year old INXS fans know this number.

Once again, sorry for laughing. Now check out 'Simple Simon', 'Stay Young', 'The Loved One' and Michael Hutchence & Don Walker's 'Speed Kills' (both found on my nzoz1981 account)...

  • SOK. I probably laughed harder.

    What can I say?

It's like discovering another room in the house you lived in for 30 years. You don;t know how you've over looked it but your excited to explore it.

  • lol, nicely put.

  • man, it seems like a lot of songs released in 1980 were ahead of their time

  • You forgot about all the Australian talent of the early 1990's that the world forgot about also blindsided by Nirvana!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • first inxs video... :o 1980 :O!! awesome!!

i got it on VHS!! XD

  • Great song... pure oz magic...Thanks for posting

  • great song!!!

  • Awesome!

  • i was never into inxs untill i saw this clip by pure chance in a shopping centre. as shallow as it may sound, perhaps Hutchence did it for me.god god he looks incredibly good

  • i love the sets u could get away with in video clips back in the day, its great :P

  • best inxs song ever

  • i like to watch and listen to this

  • My favourite INXS song after "Dancing on the Jetty"

  • wow its so amazing how different they look. i miss the old days :(

  • Awesome song! They sound a bit like Public Image Limited here (another great band) ☺

  • this bass player is totally RAD. this song starts off sounding very MenAtWork/DuranDuran/SplitEnz...so great.

  • Include Mi-Sex and The Sports - who were primary influences on INXS.

  • i didnt know that there were making music in the early 80s i only know their stuff released in the late 80s and early 90s

  • Oh Yes...been around since and before the dawn of MTV!!>... early 80's INXS is by far the best and my favorite...very New Romantic, New wave, progressive..... This song is really amazing, gets better everytime i listen; one of the greatest songs i have heard in a long time! love the first "Clouds are hazy..." so cool.

  • WOW!!! first time hearing this song.. BRILLIANT! What a killer song...i think it's my favorite now.

  • I think this is my favourite INXS song. It's very impressive for a second single by a band that were signed to the new Deluxe label in Sydney.

  • It's also my favourite INXS song as well. I never really liked their later stuff unfortunately :(

  • FAST CAR DRIVING, SLEEK AND MODERN! Love it, Rest In Peace Michael.

  • this track is about 28 yrs old but its GOOD!

  • I really miss Micheal, i never got to appreciate him while he was alive because i was only 7 when he died and I'll never get to see him live.

He looks really good in this, really hot!!!

  • I've only seen INXS with Michael three times in my life. They never played this song when I got to see them; but he was still good to see live. I was also at the funeral.

  • Wow you were at the funeral? Did you know Michael Hutchence, or were the public allowed to attend?

  • The public were allowed to attend. It was an interesting day... I got interviewed on MTV.

  • The early New Wave side of INXS was the best era to me.

  • Same here... they came out of a time when things were happening very quickly in Australia. It was a musical and creative peak - as evident on my nzoz account.

Shame it went downhill by 1990.

  • I'll have to say that a lot of music went downhill by 1990, especially here in America.

  • Actually, I might take back a bit of my comment. The Australian mainstream music scene was quite dire during the 90's; but the indi-scene in Oz at the time did bring up a few diamonds at the time....

as seen on my nzoz1990s account.

  • man, it AWESOME!!!! the first inxs' album is brilliant!! i wish Michael still was in the band!

  • i like the re make of this by part t one i think there called

  • one of my favs

  • Michael looks hot. This is one of my fav's of Inxs.

  • Brilliant, one of my favorite INXS songs.

  • Que evolución que tuvo michael durante la carrera de la banda, siempre fue bueno, pero luego su voz fue evolucionando muchísimo.

  • Money can buy almost anything but anythings nothing when your dead.

    RIP M.H

  • Hmmmm.... after reading comments others have made on your profile, I don't think you're worthy of responding to. It seems others have enough to say about you.

  • nzoz1980,

    Well said.

    Miss you Michael!!!

  • fuck you you dirty piece of lame god damned filth!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Read the comments in her profile. She's out to piss people off.. an unfunny person looking for attention.

To actively visit videos and make fun of the dead indicates the lack of a life one has.

  • Love...Michael R.I.P

  • I love INXS. This is the best Band from the World.

  • Way to go mike...love ya!

  • Michael, may God grant you peace. You are missed.

  • mmm top song loved the 80's music

    RIP Michael xxx

  • oh gosh.i have been listening to inxs for the longest time.this is the first song i ever heard from them.

    onee of my favorites.

its sad that michael is gone.

    r.i.p

  • Yeah I remember seeing the Countdown version, and Michael's feral fringe flopping about everywhere. Looking back on those years, and you kind of watched them grow from a Sydney pub band to a world stadium rock band.

  • Michael is the best!!! and I wish he was alive!! love his songs since I was three years old and I will be six soon. and it is great to hear "just keep walking"....

  • seeeeeeeeeeeeee yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss inxs sos lo mejor de toda la historia del rock....michael the besttttttt

  • ok but listen to the version inxs VS par-t-one just great

  • Love you forever Michael xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxooxoxoxoxoxooxoxoxoxoxoxox

  • Cool beat to this song, very catchy.Michael did look a bit strange when he was young & his dancing LOL!!.....he still is the best though....rip mike!!

  • Nice work NZOZ. Enjoying this stuff a lot!

  • F#*& me NZOZ, you ARE youtube, and im stuck in the 80's

  • ha ha

  • LOL, me too!!

  • Wow - I really don't like INXS much, but this is such a good song. It's got some great nasty guitar riffs, and the melody is cool.

  • such a loss, for though when ever his music is listened 2, his soul carries on..

  • I remember when this was on Sounds or something one morning when I was dithering in front of the tv and my Mum said "You're not watching that rubbish," and turned it off. Well NOW I CAN WATCH IT WHENEVER I WANT. So ner. ;p

  • LMFAO! Good for you :)

  • Still 1 of my faves - remember when they use to open with this

  • It's too bad he had to be taken from the earth so early.

  • They were so young here! Michael looks like a little boy...still sexy as hell though!
