may be this video is for some shredding solos, technically, the sound is not as good as those in his albums. He's not making much tune coz this is all about shred. If any one wants some good tune, you can check out other solos like from his albums, for instance.
Those little bluesy nugget were kinda cool, but the Malmsteen-esq stuff I could without. It just seems like playing fast, just for the sake of playing fast. Just my opinion....

@TheMMGStudio As far as I understand your point, I have to say that both examples you noted are unequal. I mean, the goal of a fast runnin' guy is that: to run as fast as he can. Any musician's goal ain't to play as fast as he can but to make music. Chris playing is extreme, is amazing... but sounds like an exercise. That's why some people find shreddin' a little bit borin'.

Clue would be to watch his head and his hair move while he's going through his runs. Another clue is to watch the editing of each run after he strikes a chord and before he begins to shred. You'll see a quick blip on the screen before he starts to shred on the guitar.

Chris really is a phenomenal player. This video does him no justice whatsoever. Every single solo from impellitteri's best of album is amazing. Listen to rat race, warrior, freakshow, victim of the system. Excellent stuff.

you know when you don't enjoy what you are hearing, i really think chris is an amazing player, but he just plays too fast, not enjoyable, compare this to vinnie moore minds eye stuff, both awesome players, but vinnie just sounds so on, not trying to impress the heck out of anyone, chris should relax and do the same,
Impelliterri is THE man. Better than most shredders in my opinion. Listen closely, a lot of different passages in one solo; baroque, romantic, bluesy; he did not just memorize a few runs and then repeat them over and over. Give him a break --this is filmed on a cheap camcorder in a room with a mega amp, it's not going to recreate the perfect tone.
@jonahsdive There may be romantic and bluesy passages in there, but they don't sound romantic or bluesy at all. That said, I wish I could play as fast as him. He is amazingly quick, and whenever I'm in the mood to hear something superfast, I go to Impelliteri videos. Fast is all he is. There is nothing romantic or bluesy about this.
@jonahsdive you know....there are A LOT of speed shredders by now, and definitly that doesn't mean they are virtuous..........but Chris....he is the exception!!! he's the fastest virtuoso EVER!!!!! Malmsteen is near him, but Chris is so much faster....and M.A.B. is fast....but not as vituous as Impellitteri...maybe Rusty Cooley can be named in this field, but his style is different.....so, this son of God is THE MAN of fastness hehe

This sounds messy...even though I know its technically perfect...BUT...wheres the emotion?????? Alexander from the band 'EUTOPIA' also uses ENGL amps and shreds with the best of them BUT.....BUT....BUT....The man possesses musicianship of melody and composition. For me Alexander IS the modern Beethoven. Impellitteri's compositions are samey and sound more like a cheese grater in an olympic event!!! ROCK ON!
Wicked speed, but....sounds more like a sporting event than music. Vinne Moore is wicked fast but also extremely melodic and "musical". Impelliteri just does not say much with his playing. As technical as it is, it gets old really quick. Typewriters & Tommyguns is what it sounds like. lol
Totally agree with Tempesas! Listen the solo of "Paradise" on his Eye of the Hurricane album...this solo is amazing! Chris is not a common shredder, he's just a great musician!
Chris Impellitteri is just practising some licks, guys. that doesn't mean that he doen't play whith any feeling. just listen to one of Impellitteri's best solos "shed your blood". i always cry when i hear it, it's a fantastic song. the world wouldn't be the same without Chris. he is my god, and no one can change my religion. my dream is to play together with Chris, the perfect guitarrist.

He is fast but his sound is not very good. Its almost too fast the notes sound like he is in a hurry. I like Vinnie Moore and George Bellas because even tho their music is fast it makes sense. Same with Yngwie and Shawn Lane. This guy uses too much distortion pedal and echoes and moves his picking arm too much to get speed. Yngwie hand is more relaxed and plays cleaner. When you play like this guy it gets boring because no bends or space between notes.
he is, without any doubt, the best guitar player in the world. He has it all: he sweeps, shreds and makes fantastic riff. Yes he is the greatest of them all. Yngwie Malmsteen too. And don't forget MAB. But the most important human in music, is Chris Impellitteri. He is my god.

-that ENGL amp sounds great when EQ'd to the guitar correctly-listen to Vinnie Moore or Steve Morse etc
U don't get automatic great tone in a amp - you usually need to tweak the EQ
If you think your problem is the amp when your tone is bad - go look in the mirror - there you will discover the true source of bad tone ;-)
He needs to up the mids and down the treble either at the amp (or on the guitar -hint: Jeff Beck, EJ, ...they all use the tone knob)

the amp isn't the problem - its the way he has it EQ'ed - far too much treble - the way Paul Gilbert used to sound but now sounds 7x better ;-)

This sounds messy...even though I know its technically perfect...BUT...wheres the emotion?????? Alexander from the band 'EUTOPIA' also uses ENGL amps and shreds with the best of them BUT.....BUT....BUT....The man possesses musicianship of melody and composition. For me Alexander IS the modern Beethoven. Impellitteri's compositions are samey and sound more like a cheese grater in an olympic event!!! ROCK ON!

Wicked speed, but....sounds more like a sporting event than music. Vinne Moore is wicked fast but also extremely melodic and "musical". Impelliteri just does not say much with his playing. As technical as it is, it gets old really quick. Typewriters & Tommyguns is what it sounds like. lol

Totally agree with Tempesas! Listen the solo of "Paradise" on his Eye of the Hurricane album...this solo is amazing! Chris is not a common shredder, he's just a great musician!

Chris Impellitteri is just practising some licks, guys. that doesn't mean that he doen't play whith any feeling. just listen to one of Impellitteri's best solos "shed your blood". i always cry when i hear it, it's a fantastic song. the world wouldn't be the same without Chris. he is my god, and no one can change my religion. my dream is to play together with Chris, the perfect guitarrist.

He is fast but his sound is not very good. Its almost too fast the notes sound like he is in a hurry. I like Vinnie Moore and George Bellas because even tho their music is fast it makes sense. Same with Yngwie and Shawn Lane. This guy uses too much distortion pedal and echoes and moves his picking arm too much to get speed. Yngwie hand is more relaxed and plays cleaner. When you play like this guy it gets boring because no bends or space between notes.

he is, without any doubt, the best guitar player in the world. He has it all: he sweeps, shreds and makes fantastic riff. Yes he is the greatest of them all. Yngwie Malmsteen too. And don't forget MAB. But the most important human in music, is Chris Impellitteri. He is my god.
