anybody know how the 450 feels compared to the 660? I just got a 660 and it feels weird compared to other quads. It's not very good for stunting cause it's balanced funny. I want to get something else and I'm thinking about a 450 or a 400. Just something that's good at wheelies, bicycles and stuff like that. I have a warrior 350 which is good for stunting but a little too slow. any suggestions? raptor 660 is for sale.....

i own a raptor 700 and a yfz 450, stock for stock they are about even, but the 450 is only good for quik races under a mile, you feel like you are really abusing the motor on long races, revving almost near the limiter at top speed where the raptor feels healthy wide open for a long races. anything short and technicle, 450. for long dirt roads and open areas, 700r all the way, raptor motors make them fast, gearing makes 450's fast
don´t hate the Raptor.... this Bike is great in his class and Raptors did win alot of Rallyes like the 2009-2010 Paris Dakar and Rally Argentina in the Quad class... there was 450s in the race but they all fail without the KTM´s
but for MX tracks still the lighter 450s but Raptors are still the shit but i hope that Yamaha will one day a new Raptor with maybe the Yamaha Phazer FX Snowsled engine... that would be the hell

@wabashofutah So what 200cc difference? The YFZ is DOHC vs 660's SOHC and is built from the factory, high compression, etc and also lighter. Different ways of making power. They are different machines for different applications, but if you want something powerful you can't go wrong with either.

660 isnt for racing.. single cam, (5 valve is a plus tho) all steel.. heavy internal rotating mass.. the yfz (or any 450 class) is pure race.. the low stance, the tuned suspension, dual cam, its all put together very well.. the 660 is not a bad quad by no means.. it just aint pure race bred ike the yfz..

ivve got a yfz700r with over 65hp to the wheels.but its set up for endurance races like the baja just shorter. but i do have a twin turbo gixxer 1000 powered banshee that runs on race gas if you wanna drag. its got close to 200 hp.

not even a quad can do that in less you get one of those farm quads that has four wheel drive. that weights a lot. That's the only quad that can go through that.

actually a cr500/kx500 in a 450 chassis with the same suspension will actually knock 5 or more seconds off your lap time. the older ones are way to heavy and not the greatest handeling, so i see where your coming from. im more lookin at the 500af's
a 500af would be better but the power of a 500 2stroke is still a lot harder to use then the power of a 450. 450 hook up real good and dont go squirrely on you as much as 500's. But hey its all about what you like and want to ride right.
i kind of agree but kind of dont, with the 500 you dont have to ring its neck like a 250 or 125, so on the track in my opinion its easier to ride than a 250 and lighter than a 450. but i do see where your coming from

this is a very accurate race the yfz will take a raptor from the line but speed the raptor has an advantage but for short drags it would take exhaust and an air kit and the raptor would own there both great bikes though own to raptors wanna add a yfz to the group don't see why people hate on the raptor so much since most of the peeps that do never rode one.
tom1234505, I had a similar problem a while back on my 04' 660 Rappy. It ended up being loose t-valves in the carb, it was letting to much air in when trying to start. Nothing major, like a $35 fix. If all else fails you should check that.
Yfz is only good if you ride like a nut on ashpalt or on a motocross track every weekend. I owned a raptor, bought a yfz 450 and then sold it before the valves and piston went and got another raptor. Yfz revs i think faster or equal with a 2 stroke but the motor wears out fast, so unless your made of money or sponsored Raptor is better
I want to sell my ds650 and get a yfz450 but I always see them for sale with rebuilt engines and stuff, I beat the living hell outta my ds650 and I like it, its fast but its HEAVY, I had it at a local track and kept up to most of the 450s but they killed me in the teqnical parts of the track. the problem is I hate raptors, dont like the dual carbs, and everyone I know who has one, has had problems with them... I'd say so. If you aren't very experienced, I don't recommend going off jumps, you could start pitching to the left or right and crash if you are off balanced. (it is not very hard to do)
yeah it depends how much experiance you have with a clutch and on a quad im 15 and weigh 180 pounds i got a raptor 660 it scared me when it first started but i got on it and got use to the power withen 30 mins it will pull up into a wheelie easy in first gear if you give it to much gas so if you get one take it slow and get use to it and bond with it
no......dirtbikes are much harder to ride when you first actually start...quads are easier becuse you cant really fall of of them lol...if you know what i mean becuz it has 4 wheels and supports the person in everyway...dirtbike has 2 you can fall much easier but once you start getting into it both are very easy to ride, my younger bro has blaster and i have honda dirtbike but im still learning to drive his blaster since im better at dirtbikes since im used to them, over all both are very fun :)

another name for the yfz 700r is the raptor 700r. If you look in the yamaha repair manuals usually itll say yfz 700r.
mine is the '06 version. its got barker duals a k and n airfilter and long travel suspension. plus some other secret goodies.

not even a quad can do that in less you get one of those farm quads that has four wheel drive. that weights a lot. That's the only quad that can go through that.

my 400ex i built from the ground up... it was a 426 when i was done... and tbh i pulled from almost everything... my bros yfz450.... stuck with me till about 4th and the i pulled... i geared mine for track racing... i was driving down the road doing 80 with my front wheels off the ground...lets just say id smoke ur suzuki

I ride a modded raptor, I've hit 95 on it a couple times, and on roads like that and some good trails I can stay in the 70's and 80's all day.

actually a cr500/kx500 in a 450 chassis with the same suspension will actually knock 5 or more seconds off your lap time. the older ones are way to heavy and not the greatest handeling, so i see where your coming from. im more lookin at the 500af's

a 500af would be better but the power of a 500 2stroke is still a lot harder to use then the power of a 450. 450 hook up real good and dont go squirrely on you as much as 500's. But hey its all about what you like and want to ride right.

i kind of agree but kind of dont, with the 500 you dont have to ring its neck like a 250 or 125, so on the track in my opinion its easier to ride than a 250 and lighter than a 450. but i do see where your coming from

a raptor will take a 450 like that man. i own on e and i beat them every time and alls i have is a pipe. i beat them on drags hill climb anything. my raptor farts 450's. the raptor rider on this vid sucked. raptors take 450s no problem. 450 might take the quarter mile. but a raptor will eat 450s.

this is a very accurate race the yfz will take a raptor from the line but speed the raptor has an advantage but for short drags it would take exhaust and an air kit and the raptor would own there both great bikes though own to raptors wanna add a yfz to the group don't see why people hate on the raptor so much since most of the peeps that do never rode one.

tom1234505, I had a similar problem a while back on my 04' 660 Rappy. It ended up being loose t-valves in the carb, it was letting to much air in when trying to start. Nothing major, like a $35 fix. If all else fails you should check that.

Yfz is only good if you ride like a nut on ashpalt or on a motocross track every weekend. I owned a raptor, bought a yfz 450 and then sold it before the valves and piston went and got another raptor. Yfz revs i think faster or equal with a 2 stroke but the motor wears out fast, so unless your made of money or sponsored Raptor is better

I want to sell my ds650 and get a yfz450 but I always see them for sale with rebuilt engines and stuff, I beat the living hell outta my ds650 and I like it, its fast but its HEAVY, I had it at a local track and kept up to most of the 450s but they killed me in the teqnical parts of the track. the problem is I hate raptors, dont like the dual carbs, and everyone I know who has one, has had problems with them... DAMN

I'd say so. If you aren't very experienced, I don't recommend going off jumps, you could start pitching to the left or right and crash if you are off balanced. (it is not very hard to do)

yeah it depends how much experiance you have with a clutch and on a quad im 15 and weigh 180 pounds i got a raptor 660 it scared me when it first started but i got on it and got use to the power withen 30 mins it will pull up into a wheelie easy in first gear if you give it to much gas so if you get one take it slow and get use to it and bond with it

no......dirtbikes are much harder to ride when you first actually start...quads are easier becuse you cant really fall of of them lol...if you know what i mean becuz it has 4 wheels and supports the person in everyway...dirtbike has 2 you can fall much easier but once you start getting into it both are very easy to ride, my younger bro has blaster and i have honda dirtbike but im still learning to drive his blaster since im better at dirtbikes since im used to them, over all both are very fun :)
